Artefact is a band from the Netherlands formed by producer & composer Maxim Schram. The line-up includes vocalist and songwriter Shamangi, double-bass player Thijs Willemsen and drummer Paul van Gerven. On stage and in the studio Artefact works with various guest musicians including trumpet player Ryan Carniaux, rapper Nemesiz and scratcher Broky B (WaxWankerz & Ish). Artefact brings you a fresh blend of electronica, funk, jazz and pop. Vocalist Shamangi adds an enchanting vibe, with a voice which can be sweet, vulnerable and powerful. In 2002 Artefact won Holland’s greatest pop prize in Paradiso (Amsterdam) called De Grote Prijs van Nederland (“The Grand Prize of the Netherlands”). Because all the great response Artefact gained after winning this prize they decided to release a mini-album. The EP One of a Kind was born, containing 6 sparkling popsongs with a triphop vibe. In 2003 the band toured a lot and closed the year supporting the British band Lamb for their shows in the Netherlands. On October 18th 2004 Artefact's official debut album Addicted To Your Goodies was released. A fresh blend of Electronica, Funk, Jazz and Pop. The album was received very well by the Dutch press.
