Mirah (pronounced mear-rah) Yom Tov Zeitlyn has been at the heart of the vibrant Northwest independent music scene ever since her debut album 'You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This'. A collection of her own 4-track recordings alongside collaborations with Phil Elverum of The Microphones/Mt. Eerie, the album became an instant classic. A follow-up to her first release, the stunning 'Advisory Committee' (2001) cemented Mirah's place in the alternative music canon. These albums were an exploration of the territories beyond lo-fi, aiming to transcend mere technical limitations and to push the boundaries of 'indie-rock' towards a more meaningful communicative goal. Phil Elverum's sound experiments collided with Mirah's striking lyrical poise and unabashed emotional honesty and the resulting mix proved quite evocative. 2003 saw the release of 'Songs from the Black Mountain Music Project,' the result of a self-imposed artists-in-seclusion collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist and musician Ginger Brooks Takahashi. Mirah began working with Lori Goldston and Kyle Hanson of Seattle's Black Cat Orchestra in 2003 and the release of a collection of cover songs followed. The album 'To All We Stretch the Open Arm' was conceived as an anti-war statement and included renditions of Leonard Cohen's 'Story of Isaac' and Kurt Weill's 'What Keeps Mankind Alive.' Mirah's third solo album 'C'mon Miracle' (2004) combined the ever-present youthful splendor of her earlier works with a more mature stylistic component which led many critics to hail it as her best work to date. A sonic expedition, Joyride: Remixes was released in 2006 and features dance remixes of tracks from Mirah's three solo efforts by the likes of The Blow, Guy Sigsworth, Mt. Eerie and Anna Oxygen. Next, in 2007, came another turn with Lori Goldston and Kyle Hanson who had since re-created themselves as Spectratone International. Share This Place: Stories and Observations was the culmination of this second collaboration. The insect-inspired extravaganza became a multi-media performance featuring stop motion animation by Britta Johnson and 12 songs based in part on the writings of the influential French scientist/poet Jean Henri Fabre. A dip into the past brought forth 2008's release of The Old Days Feeling, a collection of singles and previously unreleased rarities. In March of 2009 Mirah will unveil her new full length solo album, (a)spera.

You think it's like this but really it's like this

Million miles

I'm far away and I'm feeling alone
I've got one week behind me, just six more to go
If i could see you I'd take off your clothes
And we'd lie in the garden and watch the weeds grow

The grass is so high
I can't see over
And the moon is so full
It's setting the stars all on fire
If they build the dam
Any higher
Their gonna back up the crick and
Set this whole place under water
The city is a million miles away
The city is a million miles away

I lie wake and think of you
The floods and fires might be coming through
But you would know just what to do
Yeah, you would know just what to do

I lie wake and think of you
The floods and fires might be coming through
But you would know just what to do
Yeah, you would know just what to do

Sweepstakes prize

You remind me of a firework, boy
You touch the ceiling, you touch the floor
You sparkle and burn but you take your time
And i bet i could carry you across state lines

I'd tell you why, but i don't know
It's simple and so complicated
I could walk all day on the railroad track
But there's much more to it than that

You know all of my secret ideas
The ones i'm giving up on and the ones i'll keep
And everybody sees a funny look in our eyes
'Cause we know that we already won the sweepstakes prize

I'd tell you why, but i don't know
It's simple and so complicated
I could walk all day on the railroad track
But there's much more to it than that

I ask you if you ever think that maybe
It's what's inside of us that drives us crazy
Fingers feeling underneath your skin
There's blood and bones and some rivers to fall in

I'd tell you why, but i don't know
It's simple and so complicated
I could walk all day on the railroad track
But there's much more to it than that

I'm so lucky because i asked you once
"What are you doing? Do you wanna come up
For a cup of tea? Come visit with me
We'll play guitars and i'll give you my number"

I'd tell you why, but i don't know
It's simple and so complicated
I could walk all day on the railroad track
But there's much more to it than that

I'd tell you why, but i don't know
It's simple and so complicated
I could walk all day on the railroad track
But there's much more to it than that

Of pressure

The earthquake
Is making
The house shake
The house shake

The earthquake
Is making
The house shake
The house shake

I don't know
What to do
In times of
Disaster

Solid things
Go liquid
And the breath
Gets faster

I ask you
What you think
Of my forward question
Is this a
Release, or
A build up
Of pressure?

(repeat)

Of pressure (x12)

This dance

The sidewalks are dirty
The gutters are dry
The summer is over
My bones are inside

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

Asleep in my bedroom
My eyes open wide
I hope i get out soon
Get lost in the tide

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

And when i get thirsty
From drinking the ocean
And my blood is burning
From all the commotion

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

Love is an arrow
Shot through the sky
The streets are all narrow
The rivers are wide

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

This dance is difficult
This dance is hard
This makes me wanna spin
'Round in the yard

La familia

Hey friends don't you think you better cool it down
You're always gettin' curious and leavin' town
You know i like it being in your family
I wonder what would happen if nobody left
We'd all stick around if we'd all stick around

And here's a question that's been tested:
Tell me, if we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend forever?

If we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend?

Hey friend listen up their playing our song
On the radio, do you have to go?
I really like it, this rock and roll
Makes me want a little sugar in my bowl
It's like the glory days, it's like a fortune sold

And here's a question that's been tested:
Tell me, if we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend forever?

If we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend?

Let's none of us forget about who we are
So choose a path and follow it
Take a pill and swallow it
None of us forget about who we are
It's not forever we can fool around in the dark

If we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend forever?

If we sleep together
Would it make it any better?
If we sleep together
Would you be my friend forever?
Forever (x8)

Gone sugaring

I'll come back
With the sugar shack
Smell in my hair
Train take me there
I'll have eyes
That have seen the wilds
Of Pennsylvania
In the winter-time

Do you believe me when i
Say i'll miss you when I'm gone?
It's true
There's no use in denying i'll be
Tapped for you
Four more
Suck on my sweet tooth 'til I'm sore
Won't you take me to the twenty-fourth floor
Where the air is clear and I can see
The sun is rising in the east
I swing my feet recklessly
Over the railing on the balcony
As you kiss me goodbye
As you kiss me goodbye

Person person

Oh, person, person
We're really missin' you
It breaks all of our hearts to know
That you just want to come on home
So come on home

The telephone
Just doesn't seem to do
To let you know
How much it's true
That we love you
Yeah, we love you

Oh, person, person, person
Oh, person, person, person

How's that wide river?
Are the mountains doing fine?
Can you smell the cottonwoods?
Is it huckleberry time?
Is it huckleberry time?

You tell fast eddy i say "how d'you do?"
Take a nap on a sandbar
And we're dreaming of you too
Yeah, we're dreaming of you too

Oh, person, person, person
Oh, person, person, person

You give those glacier boats
Some muscle driven hell
And make sure the captain stands up straight
When the river starts to swell
When the river starts to swell

Oh, person, person
We're really missin' you
It breaks all of our hearts
To know
That you just want
To come on home
So come on home

Person person person
Oh, person, person, person (x8)

Engine heart

Be still my heart
Engine turning over won't you start?
This one's come to tear me all apart
Be still my heart

Just read those eyes
Trembling lips and carburetor sighs
Even though i know they're telling lies
Be still my heart

Oh, were it to stop
My tick tock, tick tock clock
Oh, were it to stop
Beat beat beat
Beat beat beat
Sleep sleep sleep
Sleep

Oh how i've grown soft
Running through so soft
I'll just dry right off
Cut me, smash me
Strain me, eat me
Apple, apple sauce

Oh what does it mean
Up on the marquee
Bright lights telling me
Don't forget
Don't forget
Don't forget
Don't forget:

Be still my heart
Engine turning over won't you start
This one's come to tear me all apart
Be still my heart

Just read those eyes
Trembling lips and carburetor thighs
Even though i know they're telling lies
Be still my heart
Be still my heart
Be still my heart

Arichipelago

I'm in the Arichipelago and I'm waiting to arrive.
I'm in the Arichipelago and I know I'm still alive.
You finally told me where you had been thinking for so long.
And it breaks my heart wide open but I know that I'll be stronger next time.

So goodbye my love,
I'll miss it when it's gone.
Goodbye my love,
the ship is shipping on.
Goodbye my love,
I'll give it up into the fog.
Goodbye my love,
I think I knew it all along.

I knew it all along.
I knew it all along.

100 knives

You were trying to kill me
With a hundred knives
You were trying to kill me
In my heart one hundred times

Tell me you were angry
That's why you said that
That's why you said that

I know you're there
I wish you'd talk
Should i stay on,
Or should i get off?

Roll over to me
Roll over
Roll over to me
Roll over

But there is nothing i'd rather do
Than spend all day in the sack with you
I want to mess up my sheets with you
There is nothing i'd rather do

You were trying to kill me
With a hundred knives
That was not the question
I thought you had inside

I know you're there
I wish you'd talk
Should i stay on,
Or should i get off?

Roll over to me
Roll over
Roll over to me
Roll over

But there is nothing i'd rather do
Than spend all day in the sack with you
I want to mess up my sheets with you
There is nothing i'd rather do

Murphy bed

How's the road?
Are you getting lots of action out there?
I hope so

I'm at home
Distracting myself with the guitar
And microphones

And when you get home you can
Tie me to the murphy bed
Let's do all the things you said
Tie me to the murphy bed
Let's just fall asleep instead

This one's for you and that one's for the other
We all have to learn to share with one another
Do you really want to know
Or should i shut my face about it when you get home?

And when you get home you can
Tie me to the murphy bed
Let's do all the things you said
Tie me to the murphy bed
Or let's just fall asleep instead

Pollen

You've got pollen on your nose
Where've you been? Where've you been?
Pretty pretty bunch, i'll take a dozen of those
You've got pollen on your nose

I want love in the afternoon (x4)

You've got pollen on your nose
Where've you been? Where've you been?
We make the dirt go flying with the shovels and hoes
You've got pollen on your nose

I wait and see if you'll give it to me (x4)

You've got pollen on your nose
I've been leaking like a garden hose

Small town

It's a small town
I'll see you around
I wish you'd move
Fall in a hole
I wish you'd go
It's a small town
It's a small town

Water and sleep

Water come up from the ocean
Water come right up the street
Water come up to the edge of my bed
Water come up while i sleep

I'll wait for sleep
Leave salt on my sheets
Salt on my sheets

By stars navigate
Dreams anticipate
By night it's too late
To try and not think about it

I'm visible
I'm invisible
The moon it is full
It pulls back and forth

I'll wait for sleep
To take me again
Take me again

The ocean side
Roller coaster rides
Please tell me why
They're all closed for the season

The rivers rise
The wells run dry
Water it tries
To swell and make it's mark

I'll wait for sleep
Leave salt on my sheets
Salt on my sheets

Ready for water
Ready for the sea
Dried out from water
Tired out from sleep

Get inside of water
Get inside of sleep
Get inside the things you do
Get inside of me
(repeat)

Telephone wires

Lean in close and speak to me low
Tell me things you want me to know
'Cause i want to be the one
You need to
Lean to
Speak to me low

Regretful it's the time of year for letting go
Wasting all my time 'cause you just tease me
Please leave me alone

Scared of the feeling of you coming home
I'm leaning out the open windows
Looking into the alley below
Rooftops black and the moon's hanging low

And the telephone wires
That carry the sound
Stretch across the sky
And under the ground

And i will be here
When you come back
And speak to me low
Speak to me low

I'll pretend that
It's okay
We'll just be friends
So the wires say

But i will be here
When you come back
And speak to me low
Speak to me low

Words cannot describe

Words cannot describe
The twinkle in your eyes
The fireworks that happen
Inside my heart they're snappin'
I'm wishin' on a star to be with you

This lazy afternoon
Will find me in my room
Plucking petals one by one
Oh my heart will come undone
Wondering if my wishes will come true

I'm waiting for the day you'll let me love you
I'm like a flower swooning for the sun
Shine on me so tenderly, my love
And say that you will be my only one

I look up at the moon
And hope that maybe soon
We'll be together i can tell
Our romance will be like a spell
Cast upon the town when we're around

I see you walking by
'N there's no use to disguise
The fella in me quivers
And now i've got the shivers
Tingling up my spine, oh you're divine

Oh tell me won't you say to me my darling
That your love for me will never die
I look up at you and sweetly sigh
Forever i could stare into your eyes

Words cannot describe
The twinkle in your eyes
The fireworks that happen
Inside my heart theyre snappin'
I'm wishin on a star (x3)
To be with you

Advisory committee

Cold, cold water

I saddled up my pony right
And rode into the ghostly night
It was wide, wide open, wide, wide open

I left the only home I knew
I stayed alive and I found you
Now I take you where the water's deep
And make the air you breathe so sweet

But is it not enough to be complete? Please?
Let me give you everything you need, please?

We found a way, we found a street
Directions sweat under the sheets
And I let you have it, let you have it

But it can be a lonely place
Desire comes, desire fades
There's a bright one caught your fancy eye
It's okay so long as you stay mine

And I'm so number one that it's a shame, a shame
That you let other numbers in the game

Now I suffer for your hungry eye
Oh why must it see more than mine?
It's a light you're after, 'cause light moves faster

But when I ride again into the night
My torch will shoot flames strong and bright
And my absence will remind you of
How tough it is to be in love

And it's not what I think it's what you say, hey
And it works great for you to have your way, hey

But if the west can be a desperate place
You search all day for just a taste
Of the cold, cold water, cold, cold water

And if you think i've gone too long
Listen the sky will sing this song
As it burns up all the memories
That flow like water out of me

After you left

The stars so far
Stay up all night
They've got some kind of way
To shine their light
I'd like to have one
Hold it tight
Start a fire
Burn all night

You have to go
I wanted you to stay
But just like you said
After you left i was okay

The sheets all broke and
The coals are dead
Migration high up
Above my head
You know the way
You've got some kind of way
It comes so natural
But seasons change

Now it's hot like summer
Winter's days are numbered
You have such cold hands
But that weather lifted after you left

Make it hot

The door is jammed
The door slammed shut
And i wait for the sound
Wait for the sound

There is one addiction
Ii like to keep the power and the heat

Make it hot
Take me over and over and over
Make it hot
Take me over and over and over

The snow falls
The snow's all ugly
When it hits the street
When it hits the street

It gets colder
Arms and shoulders

Who would've guessed it?
C'mon and feel me flex it
Who would've guessed it?
C'mon and feel me flex it

Make it hot
Make it hot
Make it hot
Take me over and over and over

Mt. St. Helens

From the morning when I rise from my bed
'Til the evening when I lay my head in slumber
Oh, the loss of you does wreck my days
Leaves me with a violent hunger
I will never be free from you
'Til I escape the lion's jaw
There's no welcome in the end
There's no reason to return again

The mountain stood so large
We were humbled
We walked a high and lonely path
The sun beat down on the ground
We looked around us
There were no trees there
We found a creek there
We dipped our feet there
We were alone there
There was still hope there
There had been a great disaster
The hot winds came just after
A tremendous shock was felt
Survivors often tell
The trees all hit the ground
Death was all around
And not a single lonesome sigh

The example lay before you
You knew what you had to do
You have a pressure in you
To destroy the one who loved you
The death was all around

You were hotter to me than the sun
That burned me up the day we went
To mount saint helens
And if the special death you gave to me
Is the prize i get to take home solemnly
And suffer with the fact that
I could never be your friend
I could never come back home again

Recommendation

Before you left to go away
I wrote down what i couldn't say
I bet you read it on the road
With foggy lights and fingers cold

Now you drove so far but now you know
How rough it is to let me go
And let me recommend that you think twice
And i always give the best advice

Now come on back to where you know i'll be
Lets' go sit under the apple tree
You can floor that thing, let the engine roar
The wheels they'll spin, the rain it pours

There's regret that you feel
About the choice you've made
You'll just have to deal
Before it goes away
You ask me how i feel
And here's what i'll say
I'm doing fine, just fine
I'm doing fine

Body below

There's a story i could tell
When the cold wind starts to blow
Like a whisper in the night
From a friend that you know

It says "keep holding on
To my body below
Forsake me not,
Don't ever leave me alone"

There was a time when the sun
Gave it's life to the trees
And the air it smelled sweeter
For the honey and the bees

The ocean rolled salty
And wild and free
The fruit swelled and ripened
And burst with their seeds

But what starts with desire
Can turn into need
The chest gets all tight
Like it's got some disease

What burns in the fire
Just ends up as coals
What floats on the water
Can sink like a stone

Now i want to believe
Every word that you say
I want you to need me
To not go away

Have trust in the nighttime
And faith in the day
To walk on the water
Be never afraid

Can you bear it upon you?
My love has gone under
Above all the stars
Have forgotten to glow

But if you keep holding on to
My body below you
I'll warm you and keep you
From feeling alone

Warm you and keep you from feeling alone (x5)

The sun

You need a big wide space
You need light, you need grace
Disappointment in your skin
I'll always let you in

Pull a feather from the nest
Fasten it to your chest
Shoot yourself up to me
Cut through the gravity

You don't have to be scared
You hold yourself down there
You would like it here i know
You were meant to let it go

'Cause i am the sun
I'm the only one
I'll pull you to me
The moon and the sea

When the oxygen comes
And blows it all clean
Remember to breathe
Remember to breathe

And we are the ones
With the parts and the motion
We fill up the sky
And we burn with devotion

When our bodies are done
And hard times are over
Remember to breathe
Remember to breathe

Advisory committee

Heard a shot rang through the woods
Couldn't tell from what direction
Spun around and tried to see
If there were two if there were three

The mist came down the ground was wet
I talked with you inside my head
The way i have forgotten back
Quickly prepare it's an attack

Listen for the sound
Feel a shaking underground
To have the weapons and the time
The will to push off from the side

I use my eyes, and use my head
I use all of the things you said
A person needs to know before
A hunting, hunting we will go

Oh, my beloved alleyway
To go it takes a lot of patience
Figure out the constellations
Work on the coordination

Listen for the sound
Feel a shaking underground
To have the weapons and the time
The will to push off from the side

Listen for the sound
Listen for the sound

Special death

A terrible mistake was made
The weight would break the backs
Of ten strong horses tried to save
The castle in the fray
If you knew that i could take the pain
Inflicted at the battle
With faithful arrows you
Might get back in the saddle
But it's a special death you saved
For me, the brown-eyed daughter
Once you made it hotter
The thankless, holy praise
Is left alone. Why bother
To cast a stone in water?

The garden

Oh oh i really wanted that thing
I just want to sing
I love you baby
Won't you bring
All the flowers you
Find out in the garden
Don't tell me the truth
That your heart has hardened

But you don't want me anymore
How can it be
Look what you've done to me

Oh oh
Oh oh the bee does quickly sting
I was wondering
If you could maybe darling
Think? I'd give everything
If you'd grant my love a pardon
And all the fruits
Again would fill the garden

But you don't want me anymore
How can it be?
Look what you've done to me

Oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh oh oh (and so on)

Light the match

I want to start a fire in your heart tonight
Oh tell me why do i so yearn to cause trouble?
I need you to be mine in the summertime
When the days are long and the nights are slow and sweet

But why do you turn and shield your eyes?
Do i burn too brightly?
Oh, don't take my love lightly, for i mean every word

You flicker, you amaze me
Your lips illuminate me
I want your eyes to tell me i'm the only flame
My glow it will attract you, my smoke will push you back
Until you call again please arsonist attack

But why do you turn and shield your eyes?
Do i burn too brightly?
Oh, don't take my love lightly, for i mean every word

I'll just light the match
And the flames will catch

But why do you turn and shield your eyes?
Do i burn too brightly?
Oh, don't take my love lightly, for i mean every word

Apples in the trees

There should be no hesitation when the coast is clear
You got a right to slide right into place when the end is almost here
So you think you got some rotten deal
What a way to compromise
It's a long long way before you get to claim that final prize
Looking at that sorry face i can recognize the fear
But if you keep on looking up at night the stars will all appear
See there's food for me, there's food for you
There's gold that's in the air
There's oceans deep and wide and there is love beyond compare
There's apple in the trees
Let's take all that we need
We know what we believe
There's hope for you and me
My eyes can almost see
If you fight 'til you're free
You don't have to wait until you die

Monument

Aren't you going to come along?
Aren't you going to fight?
Aren't you going to hold your hands up to the light?
If you feel an emptiness, if you want to hide
Think about the blood that's pumping keeping you alive
We've got it all worked out, the plans all made
If we believe in the fight then we're all saved
It's gonna hurt for a while but it would anyway
Let us stand resolute with our voices raised
We have a right to insist to be free and brave
If that should cease to exist i'd throw my heart away
It's a long long way to the promised land
So try where you are, do what you can
You belong to what you understand
So teach yourself how to demand the monument that you deserve
For rising up in a beaten down world
Aren't you going to come along?
Aren't you going to fight?
Aren't you going to hold your hands up to the light?
If you feel an emptiness, if you want to hide
Think about the blood that's pumping keeping you alive

Songs from the Black Mountain Music Project

The knife thrower

When you find the one you want
You summon them in, you blush, you flaunt
Such consummate lips betray your thoughts
To so gaily inspire a lark

You say this is a game so take your place
Then you set the mask upon your face
My silhouette in the air you trace
And the dagger performs with a start

This is the way we represent
Desire displays impermanence
Discover you now the inference
Of the lesson i wish to impart

And when the nimbus groans with thunder
Think of the clothes all cast assunder
Fragrant, the rose is filled with wonder
All that is left of my heart

This is the way we represent
Desire displays impermanence
Discover you now the inference
Of the lesson i wish to impart

And when the nimbus groans with thunder
Think of the clothes all cast assunder
Fragrant, the rose is filled with wonder
All that is left of my heart

Life you love

Speak my children you will rise
You'll find the light before you die
You will take the crystal stair
Ascend the holy atmosphere

You will speak the truth and you will survive
You will shout out my name, wipe the tears from your eyes
You will drink from the cup whether it's water or wine
You will sew what you sew with a thread gold and fine

Speak my children find the time
Don't sacrifice your love divine
You'll never know the sky's so fair
If you're afraid to climb up there

If the days make you weary the nights make you run
From the secrecy, fear and anticipation
Find the strength of your spirit in the life you love
To your mother you'll always be the righteous one

You will speak the truth and you will survive
You will shout out my name, wipe the tears from your eyes
You will drink from the cup whether it's water or wine
You will sow what you sow with a thread gold and fine

Pure

Hypnotize, hypnotize, hypnotize
Laugh till we cry
Hypnotize, hypnotize, hypnotize
Laugh till we cry

Safely dodging lover's lasso
Give in, give in, give in
Matter how they try and pass you
Give in, give in, give in
Matter how you try and figure
Give in, give in, give in
Everyday it just gets bigger
Give in, give in, give in

Give in, give in, give in, give in
Give in, give in, give in, give in
Give in, give in, give in, give in
Give in, give in, give in

Invisible stars sing me to sleep
Telling secrets, sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
Invisible star sing me to sleep
Telling secrets, sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep

And I've stopped drinking
And smoking
And eating
And breathing
So I should be pure by now
I should be pure
Pure
Pure
Pure

While we have the sun

Let's take the time to walk together while we have the sun
You never know when temperamental weather's gonna come
And if you want to face the death you're never that far from
Just take a breath and sing to it when all the day is done

So sorry about all the sorrow in your life you'll know
It's true that all the ones you love will someday have to go
And everytime you say goodbye you'll hear the trumpets blow
A serenade to the soul, all surrounded by the glow

If you feel all broken 'cause i left you there too soon
Just know that it's not up to you to make the flowers wilt or bloom
And if you think you're lonely then just listen for the tune
Of all the stars i left for you in the chest of the moon

If you want to shake whatever separates you from
The holiness you want to make your life on earth become
Live your life with a compassion you can be proud of
Then let your last breath fade away with dignity and love

Let's take the time to walk together while we have the sun
You never know when temperamental weather's gonna come
And if you want to face the death you're never that far from
Just take a breath and sing to it when all the day is done

Rock of ages

Rock of ages
Are you comin' soon to carry me away?
Love and rage is what's been making me stay
All around us
Evil forces hound us
It takes love and trust
To keep it all at bay

Oooh...

Rock of ages
Does redemption taste as sweet as they say?
For the wages of justice seem so far away
Our work down here
Ever coming more clear
Pushing through fear
And out the other side

Oh! September

Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop

Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop
Doo-wop, doo-wop

I said wouldn't it be nice
Give me a mountain paradise
We'll leave the sheets out in the rain
And listen to that lonesome train
summer slowly turns to fall
Tomatoes ripe we eat them all
Tangly vines around our shoes
We conquer everything we do

One seatbelt around us two
Windows rolled down
70's sounds and doo-wop tunes
Shown the secrets of metal
By your accordion friend
Now you might just learn how to shred
The pictures made us change our view
We sleep on blankets in the living room
It's our work, we're so involved
Sorry we turned the phone off if you called

Meet me at the back-shack, baby
You'll bring your little ukelele
Oh take up reel! make it all right
Let's make a song on the 8-track tonight

Pack up the patch cords
Look back on the last one
In the beginning we made up rules
We thought we'd jam first thing every morning
But we let some goals slip to the side
Sleeping late, letting our bodies decide
Now we'll head back home
oh! september where did you go

Meet me at the back-shack, baby
You'll bring your little ukelele
Oh take up reel! make it all right
Let's make a song on the 8-track tonight

Meet me at the back-shack, baby x11

Dear landlord

( Janis Joplin )

Dear landlord
Please don't put a price on my soul
My burden is heavy
And my dreams are beyond control

When that steam-boat whistle blows
I'm gonna give you all i've got to give
And i do hope you receive it, well
Depending on the way you feel that you live

Dear landlord
Please heed these words that i speak
I know you've suffered much
But in this you are not so unique

All of us at times, we might work too hard
Too heavy, too fast and too much
And anyone can fill their life up with things
They can see but just cannot touch

Dear landlord
Please don't dismiss my case
I'm not about to argue
I'm not about to move to no other place

Now each of us has our own special gift
And you know this was meant to be true
And if you don't underestimate me
I won't underestimate you

Story of Isaac

( Leonard Cohen )

The door it opened slowly,
My father he came in,
I was nine years old.
And he stood so tall above me,
His blue eyes they were shining
And his voice was very cold.
He said, "i've had a vision
And you know I'm strong and holy,
I must do what i've been told."
So he started up the mountain,
I was running, he was walking,
And his axe was made of gold.
Well, the trees they got much smaller,
The lake a lady's mirror,
We stopped to drink some wine.
Then he threw the bottle over.
Broke a minute later
And he put his hand on mine.
Thought I saw an eagle
But it might have been a vulture,
I never could decide.
Then my father built an altar,
He looked once behind his shoulder,
He knew I would not hide.

You who build these altars now
To sacrifice these children,
You must not do it anymore.
A scheme is not a vision
And you never have been tempted
By a demon or a god.
You who stand above them now,
Your hatchets blunt and bloody,
You were not there before,
When I lay upon a mountain
And my father's hand was trembling
With the beauty of the word.

And if you call me brother now,
Forgive me if I inquire,
"Just according to whose plan?"
When it all comes down to dust
I will kill you if I must,
I will help you if I can.
When it all comes down to dust
I will help you if I must,
I will kill you if I can.
And mercy on our uniform,
Man of peace or man of war,
The peacock spreads his fan.

The Light

What's the use of holding out
A work sore hand to catch some rain
It turns up empty, all is dry
And all you ever wanted was some rain
Was some rain

If heaven is the future
Why is it that that you refuse to go
There now with all you have
You really should do more than just complain
Just complain

Such a rotten taste
Is left when you don't think to say that
It's just such a sorry waste
To take the easy way out of the pain
Of the pain

When the end shines from the deep
And all the hate and all the hell that history has released
Would tremble before your valor if you'd
Just get down on your knees
And promise to all your children true
That you will live in peace

Where's the light to shine on me
Oh, send me something, send me please
Cleanse my body, close my eyes
I'm naked and prepared to die
In the starry atmosphere
When all the questions disappear
And pressure with a salty taste
Exalts the tears that soak your face

What keeps mankind alive ?

( Kurt Weil )

You gentlemen who think you have a mission
To purge us of the seven deadly sins
Should first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that's where it begins

You lot, who preach restraint and watch your waist as well
Should learn for all time how the world is run
However much you twist, whatever lies you tell
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

So first make sure that those, who now are starving
Get proper helpings, when we all start carving

What keeps mankind alive, the fact that millions
Are daily tortured, stifled, punished, silenced, oppressed
Mankind can keep alive, thanks to its brilliance
At keeping its humanity repressed
For once, you must not try to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.

You say the girls may strip with your permission (whoa!)
You draw the line dividing art from sin
So first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching, that's where it begins

You lot, who bank on your desires and our disgust
Should learn for all time how the world is run
Whatever lies you tell, however much you twist
Food is the first thing, morals follow on

So first make sure that those, who now are starving
Get proper helpings, when we all start carving

What keeps mankind alive, the fact that millions
Are daily tortured, stifled, punished, silenced, oppressed
Mankind can keep alive, thanks to its brilliance
At keeping its humanity repressed
For once, you must not try to shirk the facts
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts

Mankind can keep alive, thanks to its brilliance
At keeping its humanity repressed
For once, you must not try to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts

How sweetly friendship binds

( Kurt weil )

How sweetly friendship binds
Our hearts in brother love
With kindness of forgiving minds
Life's sweetest pleasures prove

For fled our hate and harm
No fall seeks us to kill
To all we stretch the open arm
Of welcome and good will

Si se calla el cantor

( Horacio Guarany )

. . Calla la vida.

Hard times

( Stephen Foster )

Let us pause in life's pleasures and count its many tears
While we all sup sorrow with the poor
There's a song that will linger forever in our ears
Oh, hard times, come again no more

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered all around my door
Oh, hard times, come again no more

While we seek mirth and beauty and music to light the way
There are frail forms fainting at the door
Though their voices are silent, their pleading looks will say
Oh, hard times, come again no more

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered all around my door
Oh, hard times, come again no more

There's a pale drooping maiden who toils her life away
With a worn out heart, whose better days are o'er
Though her voice it would be merry, 'tis sighing all the day
Oh, hard times, come again no more

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered all around my door
Oh, hard times, come again no more

Tis a sigh that is wafted across the troubled wave,
Tis a wail that is heard upon our shore
Tis a dirge that is murmured around those lonely graves
Oh hard times come again no more.

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary
Hard times, hard times, come again no more
Many days you have lingered all around my door
Oh, hard times, come again no more

Bella ciao

 ( Arja Saijonmaa )

From to all we stretch the open arm

Questa mattina, mi son svegliata.
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
Questa mattina, mi son svegliata
E ho trovato l'invasor.
Oh partigiano, portami via.
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
Oh partigiano, portami via,
Che mi sento di morir.
E se muoio da partigiano
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
E se muoio da partigiano
Tu mi devi seppellir.
E seppellire lassù in montagna
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
Seppellire lassù in montagna
Sotto l'ombra di un bel fior.
E le genti che passeranno
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
E le genti che passeranno
E diranno che bel fior.
E' questo il fiore del partigiano
Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao.
E' questo il fiore del partigiano
Morto per la libertà.

C'mon Miracle

Nobody Has to Stay

Rest up in the gentle sway
Sister make a flower place
The mother, father, brother grace
Of river stones to keep her safe

Come away with me today
Everything should be okay
Fill your pockets while you pray
With some to eat and some to save
Nobody has to stay
But we wish they would anyways

It is the evening of the days
Where we have chosen to remain
And while you hurt with all that pain
The stars will kiss your pretty face

Come away with me today
Everything should be okay
Fill you pockets while you pray
With some to eat and some to save
Nobody has to stay
But we wish they would anyways

Jerusalem

We celebrate the wars we've won
The blood of history's ancient sons
We followed judah maccabee
We fought against iniquity
We saved ourselves with help from one
Who loves "his" children, everyone
Everyone, everyone
Everyone, everyone

So now jerusalem, you know that it's not right
After all you've been through you should know better than
To become the wicked ones almighty g-d once saved you from

The lessons we should learn from all
The fighting in the days of old
When providence bestowed divine
The sanctuary purified
Let light encircle all you hold
And don't uproot the olive grove

So now jerusalem, you know that it's not right
After all you've been through, you should know better than
To become the wicked ones almighty g-d once saved you from

So now jerusalem, you know that it's not right
After all you've been through, you should know better than
To become the wicked ones almighty g-d once saved you from

Don't die in me

The mighty continents divided
For a second time in all history
They found themselves just floating free
From all responsibility
Without the weight of being whole
Some fruits evolved all on their own

And if you want something back
All the things that got cracked
When i felt like you lied to me
And all the million mistakes
And the kicks in the face
But i don't want you to die in me
So when you say what you want
That you need what you got
Don't forget to be kind to me

Now here's an apple with a tougher skin
While you've got your pretty scales and fins

You say "see all the things that i can do
So perfectly my body grew" but in
All the time you felt so free
Did you forget how much you once loved me

And if you want something back
All the things that got cracked
When i felt like you lied to me
And all the million mistakes
And the kicks in the face
But i don't want you to die in me
So when you say what you want

Look up!

If I think all the magic is gone
And I can't fix it when it's wrong
And the lights that were golden got dim
Caught up in a terrible wind

You say, look up! look up! find what you need
It pours out of you, what's so buried in me
And I think, hey what's up with all this stuff that I should keep
Gets me so sleepless, makes me all weak
But then you wake up, walk up, and the body you see
Comforts you how it's so soft and so sweet

Now you can make it like i can't believe
Oh Herculues, sir, don't stop please
My bended knees caught in between
Hot love and how the world's so mean, like when I think

Let's all say look up! look up! find what we need
I'll give some to you if you'll give some to me
And i'll think, hey what luck
Such magnificancies take me in divinity
And we'll all live on live on the beautiful beast
Wrestling the tension I don't want to need

We're Both So Sorry

I know you didn't mean it and you're sorry that i left
I'll go right on pretending i've got nothing to regret
Except all of the time we wasted giving only second best
You always seemed to lose the spark when i was only half undressed
I drove across a sea of flags to find my own command
The distance paid a lonesome price to see it's motherland
Now if you would unbuckle, sir, receive your reprimand
And hey i'm sorry about so much baby, but i know you'll understand
I'm sorry about so much baby, but i know you'll understand

How can i ever apologize, I meant you no such harm
I never knew i could possess that fatal kind of charm
I just wanted to be good to you but i found i was disarmed
By a lifetime of disillusionment and the distraction of the stars
I abdicated, now i'm just a prince without a land
My subjects all adored me but for this i had them banned
Now could i trade my guilt for a good flogging by your hand?
And hey i'm sorry about so much baby, but i know you'll understand
I'm sorry about so much baby but i know you'll understand

I can understand why you'd refuse my one request
Just to press against my weaponry and then lay bare your chest
Challenges like these can be won or lost or laid to rest
Now we both agree to separate from the lonely castle steps
The kingdom is destabilized, the watchtower unmanned
The bedroom lies abandoned and the future is unplanned
But we've got the past to remind us of love; chivalrous and grand
And hey i'm sorry about so much baby but i know you'll understand
I'm sorry about so much baby but i know you'll understand

The Dogs of B.A.

I hung myself out on the line
Beneath an argentina sky
And i expected there to dry
Beneath the argentina sky
Upon the rooftop here so high
Beneath the argentina sky
The storm did call me to its side
Beneath the argentina sky

And the dogs of buenos aires they will take you from your sleep
Between the firecrackers cackling and the taxis in the street
And if you wake up lonely better throw some shoes upon those feet
To keep the heartbreak from taking your life

Once i had planned to be your bride
Before this argentina sky
Now i just tend my wounded pride
Under this argentina sky
Now i want the rain to fall into my eyes
From this argentina sky
The thunder to match my anguished cries
Beneath this argentina sky

I looked into the darkening and while the air did chill
I knew that though i'm here in exile that you should love me still
And when the rain began to pound i lifted up my face until
I was soaked with the ache of the sky

So many tears could make me blind
Beneath this argentina sky
But still my love for you i can't deny
Even under argentina's skies
I'll seek until a path to you i find
Under these argentina skies
When will you take me back inside
From under argentina's skies

I looked into the darkening and while the air did chill
I knew that though i'm here in exile that you should love me still
And when the rain began to pound i lifted up my face until
I was soaked with the ache of the sky
When will you take me back inside
From under these argentine skies?

The struggle

And i hope you find
The magic on the floor
That i left behind
And i forgot to close the door
The careless gestures
That made it all so rough
What could i expect from
The great mystery above
It's uncontrolled
All the hate and all the love
The blame that i place
I'm never proud of
I'm never proud of

And every time i pass a place of trouble
I recollect the violence of the struggle
The struggle
The struggle
The struggle

An angel i was
Beloved by everyone
The devil you were
Just what i made you become
And i don't regret
This way it's gonna be
I just hope she gets
Treated better than you did me
You should give what you find
And not tread so fearfully
If you felt good inside
You wouldn't be so scared of me
You wouldn't be so scared of me

And when the light comes down you know it's gonna be a strong one
If we're still both around we look into the face of the sun
Of the sun
Of the sun
Of the sun

We could try to bury the hatchett in the cold, cold ground
But it's sure to heat up when the spring comes around

You've gone away enough

If the light takes you in will you know where you've been all this time
At the edge of a cliff you could almost just slip down the side
When there's so much to do don't you wish you could make up your mind?
But it know it's elusive, it grows and it burns you inside

With my eyes mostly closed like a person who knows how to drown
I'll squint at the sun and my shoulders will pray for the ground
Let's throw something over, imagine it's us falling down
And thinking of death we will watch without making a sound

But it's just the way you are you don't have to be afraid
The way you look at the stars and how you think that they were made
The motion will never stop turning the night into the day
You've gone away enough when will you decide to stay

My trouble with everything always is nothing's just right
Just to figure out nothing could keep you awake half the night
Not to know what you want is a terrible thing you should fight
You just sift for the face of the dark while you wait for the light

Promise to me

There was a child who was born to be the one who comforts me
Who was born strong and brave and holy, loves me rough and tenderly
Can it be understood the reasons why you belong to me?

I need the steady of you and i'd give you anything
That i could cut with sweet precision from beneath my tender skin
There is a way, there is a way that you could save me from this

Would you promise to be kind?
Promise to be kind

The wind is ever faithful and it carves a solemn sword
Right through the hearts of the ungrateful who are always wanting more
There is a way, there is a way that you can help me

With the ramparts built so high
All the soldiers stuck inside
But this will fall away in time
If you promise to be kind
Promise to be kind
Promise to be kind

Exactly where we're from

And in the evening when i come
You'll hear the silence of my strum
The ringing of the thundery drums
When love forgives from up above
The thirsty person who knows not
The shimmer of a brow that's fraught
We have been blessed with certain thoughts
And speak with very little talk
And in the darkness we will walk
Until the day does make us stop
We'll check the belly of the sun
To know exactly where we're from

And in the evening when i come
You'll hear the silence of my strum
The ringing of the thundery drums
When love forgives from up above
The thirsty person who knows not
The shimmer of a brow that's fraught
We have been blessed with certain thoughts
And speak with very little talk
And in the darkness we will walk
Until the day does make us stop
We'll check the belly of the sun
To know exactly where we're from
To know exactly where we're from
To know exactly where we're from

Community

You have but two, we have six
We can use them to such great accomplishment
The sum of all, all of us all
Outweighs humanities obstinence

You argue much, don't get along
You seem to try to do everything alone
But who needs to speak in our society
We take advantage of our pheromones

We communicate with chemicals
but this is not, as you might think, just mechanical
It's an expressive art, instinctually smart
Secretion's quiet and dependable

Altruism is our way
Each alone, we do not have so much to say
We're individuals in a community
One hundred forty million years we've been this way

With wisdom and ingenuity
We outwit so much larger adversaries
We symbolize this treasured prize
Buried deep within the human psyche

Between order and instability
We thrive on this beautiful complexity
We regulate our density
Emerge in the social biology

We get things done

Gestation Of The Sacred Beetle

My mother made for me this pear
A perfect womb a modelled lair
Where I will grow and eat my share
Of pastry rich beyond compare

With pressure kneeds and shapes she well
The fruits of fields she has compelled
In shapely sustenance I dwell
This nascent nest my carousel

She leaves me thus and by the sun
I incubate, quicken, become
A hatched babe, a newly grub
Who praises maven mother's love

Upon my birth see what I've found
A stercoraceous feast abounds
These alimentary gifts endow
What ruminant excess allows

And I begin to wax replete
Unfettered life is but to eat
Into the fruit but not the rind
Consume and fatten up sublime

(?) urges I possess
Become a loose and amber flesh
Oh sober beauty make me smooth
While I await the turning moon

Emergent will thou concentrate
While August rains facilitate
The softening by which I elate
Burst forth a gleam to meet my fate
The joys of light, a drink so sweet
Before it's time again to eat
But soon the victuals I greet
Begin, the scarab life complete

Following The Sun

Oh, these ragged wings
Oh, these papery things
Ah but strong am I
I can fly and fly
I'm the king, am I
Earthly winds I ride for miles and miles

I've been biding time
At the over-wintering site
Where the firs are fine
And the mountains high
The winter months we like
This habitat for us is perfectly designed

Lepidopterists are pleased
Know it took them years to find me
In nineteen seventy-five
Discovery arrived
In Mexico the prize
This is where we hide
But still you wonder why
We are so dramatically inclined
To live this migratory life

(spanish?)

Lives like ours rely
On seasonal plants which die
And soil gets too dry
And sunlight does grow nigh
We travel 'til we find
A host by which our darling hatchlings will survive

A green tender shoot
Asclepiads bloom
Fragrant firework
Cardenolides usurp
Aposematics work
Assiduously we searched
And though it won't be me
My progeny will surely see
Their return to the prairies

My Prize

Manna from the sky above
Spherical I shape my love
Such an appetite does enthral
The frenzy with which I form this ball

Up the hill I push my prize
Lights affront and face behind
Never choose the easy path
For meals that come too easily run the risk of being dung

When you see me passing by
You can't help but wonder why
I have chosen this strange feast to carry home to eat

You know, I don't really mind
The taste is truly quite divine
And besides but I and my brethren
Would save this world from suffocating under all this waste

Truth and light shine off my back
All the universe intact
I've the tools to shape and mould
Both consciousness and soul

As I roll this world around
An image of us all is found
Slowly turning within my grasp
I personify the sun, the place where we all came from

Supper

Let me introduce myself
My villainy is rare
A puree in a scented bath
Perhaps even debonair

Costumed in brown and pink a lantern at my tail
Just like any other got about
Till should I chance to them a countersue snare

Ah, but I am a cherish one with this chloroform
Before our banquet, this deed, I must, I must preform

I vanquish you with kissed, a dubious caress
But in truth, it is a poison which into your mantle I press

And so a profound inabilities ceases you
And just one procedure before I'll be hating you
Liquefaction is a skill which I posses
Oh how I love a good soup
Straight from the chef is best

Song Of Psyche

Shall I tell a tale of love and of jealousy
And of how a mortal found her own destiny
Born a maiden of luminous beauty
And revealed she was a flower so heavenly

But by this admiration I'm doomed you see
The smite of a goddess upon me
Now I'm sent to wed one of dragon-breed
Oh dear Venus I meant no impiety

And so the girl was left alone on a mountaintop
Until with gentle breath Zephyr she to a palace brought
For the fates have dained not Venus's wishes wrought
But instead that those famed arrows would share her heart

We had happiness there but in secrecy
In darkness we loved without need to see
But convinced to unveil his identity
Great winds, betrayed, flew fast away from me

And so she wondered on the land searching far and wide
While he lay sequestered by his indignant mother's side
She prepared to face the implications of her desire
Approached the gates where Habit seized her and made her cry

Oh trouble and sorrow please leave me be
Has your mistress no heart to bid me clemency
I love her most sweetly and fervently
'Tis only of this I am guilty

Then the goddess drug her to a disordered heap of seeds
Commanding before night the sorting task must be complete
The mess of lentils, corn and barley and poppy seeds
Did loom impossible to weary and worn Psyche

I stand overwhelmed with humility
But hark underfoot, earthborn you pity me
Oh nimble nurselings rush to my need
Dear brothers and sisters of humanity
Took each grain by grain
Made piles of the same
The light of nature came to me

Oh Myrmidons oh gentle beasts
I asked you not, still you saved me
Such diligence grant me this lesson teach
Now consciousness have I to keep

But not enough this single victory
Bid she was impossibilities
To collect the golden fleece
The waters from the cruellest peak
And the beauty of Persephone

These three more tasks completed she
Afraid she was but never weak
Then when cast in Stygian sleep
Love flew and roused her from the deep

Oh counsel above, oh Jupiter
You welcome me into your theatre
With this golden goblet of ambrosia
I'll cherish the lessons I've learned from the
Tower and greenery
And the royal bird's great beak
The ants who rescued me
Yes it takes strength to receive

Luminescence

Luminescence is ours, don't need a reason
Heralding pairing time, shine like a beacon
I've got the brilliance to let him know
I am so ready to glow

Light up the hottest time, summer the season
Nuptial scarves are mine, resplendently tease him
This light is soft in the night like a sigh
A glimmering kiss sent down from the stars in the sky

I'll never get to fly high
I'll never sprout the wings with which to roam the skies
But brilliantly I oxidize

I have the urge to climb high
I position myself well and the begin to writhe
Abdomen flexing from side to side
Optical attraction with this exercise
Such light and action should catch your eyes

When illumination grows nigh
My swain has been attracted and it feels so right
Romantic lighting is this bride's delight
Now I've a belly full of bright lights
These little ones results of that seductive night
Observe how my lantern did kindle the prize
Pyrotechnics emanating from inside
Provocatively photosensitize
By brightness this life is conceptualized

Emergence Of The Primary Larva

See me born of this narrow shelter
Watch my smooth shell split
And then I tumble held by a remnant
My trusted friend
My black eyes behold
Life's dangers unfurl
Will the frost come before I can be buried

I won't become the one I intend
Until I can brave the dust below
In the heat of the blessed sun
I suspend

And there I wait
I hesitate
Harden my skin to a shell of safety

My lord who hums

Listen to the stories of
The people who once gave me their love
If I am killed and not understood
You will never learn what you could

Make me of bronze and gold, ivory
And then place me upon the chests of the brave
This amulet prays
Each soldier to say

I am the lord of the flies
Do you remember my name
I am the god of the city of
Akron, the land of Canaan
I will conduct and sway your souls
With divinity that's been granted me

Why have you altered your view of my offer
Hum, I hum...
I hear you

Listen to the stories of
The people who once gave me their love

Big fly does council from this perch
No more the answers you need search for
The future
I whisper

I have been swallowed and rebirthed
I am your kin we will convert
The circle turns and the circle fades
And then shines again revivicates
Death is not the end of you
And you cannot run from this it's true

Your fear won't help you
Watch me pray and honor all
Live brave must share this place

Ecdysis

Yellow black and nice and fat
My body did form a J
Upside down split from the ground
Insides out and gyrate

Harden into chrysalis I begin to pupate
Hormones will cause all my tissues to rearrange

Now green and gold is getting old
It's been nine to fifteen days
Prepare to know my imago
I'm getting out of this case

I will fill my wings with all the fluid I have saved
Becoming structured as this liquid pumps into the veins
I'm getting out
I'm getting out

Love Song Of The Fly

I take offer of your open window, oh
And permit myself the nearness of you
Even just the scent of what you've left behind
Drives me in circles of lust
Oh your crumbs and your dust

I enter each room and perform for you
Might you love me alone for my skill and grace
How we tease and chase

This song for you
I hum in your favorite key
Please render me adoringly
But sweet ribbons you vex me
When your treachery holds me fast
My adoration only led me straight into your trap
I beheld them a gift for me
Never dreamed they'd extinguish me
Though perfumed, my wings are torn
A fallen warrior

Oh why do you despise
Only criticize me
Your wrath collides
With the love that resides
In kaleidoscope eyes
You care not for my speed and bravery
You only think me base and dirty
But I love you still darling
You multiply in my eyes

I wished only to care for you
Make beautiful your castaways
You see all life is bound with this grace
I regenerate hope with every morsel on which I feed
And in return all I ask is compassion and tenderness
That's all any lover really needs

And now you know
I cherished you so
I'll perish though, become your dust

Credo Cigalia

I sing clattering all the summer long
You've no choice but to listen to my song
I express so stridently
The joy of life persistent in mighty, mighty me

One of millions
Imperturbably I'll sing my credo with not a moment's falter

Shine oh sun, with warmth upon my back
Sideways steps when the heat begins to lack
Dedicatedly I eat by plunging my proboscis deep into this tree
I drink my fill
Side by side both sexes find the nectar that flows within the floor

Picture me, a vaulted canopy
They can't say for an organ two or three
Resonant cavity fakes a pull on the vox cigala you know the organ stop
Oscillations
Cymbals snap and mirrors flex and the chapels do form a tiny church

Find you brash my vociferous avows
My ardor offends the silence you espouse
Hail harvest time you reap your wheat
And by the time you eat it I'll be obsolete
Such a short life
Seventeen or three or more I've waited so long to greet the sun
So let me have my fun

Old Days Feeling

Location Temporary

Dive into the sleep that's waiting
Back at home the stars are fading
And you're nowhere
You're nowhere

Waking up in winter snow
The car is shaking. I don't know
How we got so far away
I guess we drove for twenty days

But the dunes move in so slowly
They swallowed a cemetery
Beside the estuary
Location's temporary

Slighted

If you were a mountain top
I would keep ascending and never stop
If you were some kind of store
I would buy you out and wait for more
If you were my native land
I would hold you close
I'd take your hand
And be your man
And dream of summertime
I wish you would be mine

But every good thing dies
Every good thing dies

If you were a mountain top
I would climb right up and jump right off
If you were some kind of store
I would rob you blind and lock the door
If you were my native land
I would take control
I would demand
That you take my hand
You were the dream of summertime
I wished you would be mine

Then every good thing dies

Don't go

Don't take yourself away from me tonight
'Cause we know the only time we both feel alright
Is when you're lying next to me holding me tight

You say you'll think about me for two hours in the car
In some ways it is and also isn't very far
I'll sit at home listening to Friday night pass by
And while you're at that party I'll think about you and sigh

Don't go
Don't take yourself away from me tonight
'Cause we know the only time we both feel alright
Is when you're lying next to me holding me tight

There's all these things about you shine a love light on my heart
It's nice to think about 'em on these nights when we're apart
I like the way your hair is getting' shaggy and kinda long
It goes really good with that new tough jacket you've got on

Don't go
Don't take yourself away from me tonight
Just stay here on the sofa with me or i might
Just pick you up and pin you down, alright

I can't wait till our next date
We'll walk around and stay up late
We'll go to the mini-mart
We'll kick stones 'cross the empty lot

Dreamboat

What would you do if you knew
How much I wanted you
You'd say hey, me too so let's get busy
Let's raise some hell in this little city

The dreamboat's waiting on the docks at night
She's a little bit horny and she feels just right
Hey, how about some of that lubrication
'Cause this motor's getting ready for some fornication

Hey, whatever happened to the sweet young chick
Who fell for the babe with a strap on prick
You see 'em riding around town together
In a orange pick-up truck and wearing lots of leather

Lone star

Texas is a place where cowboys
Wear big hats and make lots of noise
Get along doggy, yippy-tie-tie-oh
Curious country, when can we go

Lassoing my cowgirl dreams
And chasing down a tumbleweed
Bucking bronco cause a scene
Is Texas really as it seems

Lone star
I'm so far
You're so far
So good
So tell me all about your celebrated past
So tell me all about how long your battle lasts
Cause you're as big as Texas, Texas, Texas

I've been riding hard all day
I'm saddle sore but I'm okay
I'll find a place to lay my head
The stars will be my feather bed

Texas is a shiny penny
On the street I'll wink at any
Cowboy hearted fool
Who drops his pants
And then drops out of school

Lone star
I'm so far
You're so far
So good
So tell me all about your celebrated past
So tell me all about how long your battle lasts
Cause you're as big as Texas, Texas, Texas, Texas
Texas

Take Me Out Riding

Take me out riding
Take me out riding
Over the long road
Cuts through the barley
Glint of the barrel
The spin has it handle

You gonna show me
You gonna brag
You gonna shoot out the stars from a flag
You gonna wrestle
You gonna try
Shaking your tassels
Whooping some hide

And hey man I'm face down flat
And you got a way with that
And hey man I'm face down flat
Cause you got a way like that

Take me out riding
Take me out riding

Heat Gets Hotter

I don't want to take you home
All the time
All the time
Baby baby can't you see
You'll get more sleep
Without me
But if you lay me
Bend me
Shake me
I'm easy so take me
Sister
Take me

Though we want to be alone
But i tease you
And you tease me
Fellow insecurity
But you've gone
But you've gone
Mother, father
Want to know your intentions
Heat gets hotter
Love's inventions
Heat gets hotter (x6)

Birthday present

You make my everything okay
You make me feel this certain way
It's like an ocean, like a wave
It's like when morning lights the day

It only grows and grows and grows
You come to me when I'm asleep
You hold me close and it's so sweet
Somewhere between my head and feet
You make my alphabet complete

It only grows and grows and grows
If i were a planet in space
You'd be the astronaut who braves
My deserts and my lonely face
My axis holding you in place

It only grows and grows and grows
There is just one more thing to say
Happy birthday

The Place

Go to the place you think you'll be happy
And when you get there I wanna hear the tale you thought it would be
You can't leave your suitcases stacked up over here
As far as you go they'll never disappear
Doesn't take an X-ray to find out what's in there
Doesn't take an X-ray to find out what's in there

What is the sour thing inside your mouth
Sure I understand you got to get it the hell out
But do you have to make such a mess when you do that
Cause even if you wish you were you're never gonna be alone
Cause even if you wish you were you're never gonna be alone
Cause even if you wish you were you're never gonna be alone
Cause even if you wish you were you're never gonna be alone

Get It?

Oh baby, please take a look at me
Our cattle's on the clothesline spree
And i've got nowhere else to be
So let's get under the apple tree

The stars are ours
If you care to wish upon them
It's not so hard
When honeysuckles are in blossom
All the flowers come up singing
Check it out her ears are ringing
La laaa la
La laaa la

Sticky, sweaty, smelly, pretty
Get it all up in yer kitty
(repeat x5)
Sticky, sweaty, smelly, pretty

Land Ho!

I wish i was a sailor, sailor
Kiss my salty lips, remember
All the times you shouted "land ho!"
See the shore line approaching, ho
I see all the ships in the sea
All the ships in the sea
All the ships in the sea

What is it that sailors drink
So the ocean doesn't scare them
I'll pound with you and wait for you
In my big tall ship

I wish i was a sailor, sailor
Kiss my salty lips, remember
All the times you said hello
All the times you said let's go
I see all the fish in the sea
All the fish in the sea
All the fish in the sea

What is it that sailors drink
So the ocean doesn't scare them
I'll pound with you and wait for you
In my big tall ship

What is it that sailors drink
So the ocean doesn't scare them
I'll pound with you and wait for you
In my big tall ship

The Sun

You need a big wide space
You need light, you need grace
Disappointment in your skin
I'll always let you in

Pull a feather from the nest
Fasten it to your chest
Shoot yourself up to me
Cut through the gravity

You don't have to be scared
You hold yourself down there
You would like it here i know
You were meant to let it go

'Cause i am the sun
I'm the only one
I'll pull you to me
The moon and the sea

When the oxygen comes
And blows it all clean
Remember to breathe
Remember to breathe

And we are the ones
With the parts and the motion
We fill up the sky
And we burn with devotion

When our bodies are done
And hard times are over
Remember to breathe
Remember to breathe

Don't

There's no sense in breaking up with you
But is it what I gotta do
Because you hurt me bad
You're running around
You made me so sad
And everybody in town knows she's not worth you losing me

You know that i love to be your own sweet baby
To ruin you up with every song i'll play
That you're never gonna leave won't you please, please say
I want you by my side until the rivers and the seas run dry

I need you bad (so bad)
Without you (oh no)
I don't know what i'll do
Don't make me do it (la la)
Come back (la la)
Don't make me say what i don't wanna say

There's no sense in breaking up with you
But is it what I gotta do
Because you hurt me bad
You're running around
You made me so sad
And everybody in town knows she's not worth you losing me

I need you bad (so bad)
Without you (oh no)
I don't know what i'll do
Don't make me do it (la la)
Come back (la la)
Don't make me say what i don't wanna say to you

No no
You're gonna break my heart in two
Don't make me do it
(repeat x6 and fade)

Lonesome Sundown

Black river flows so slowly there's no knowing its direction
Just as aimlessly I followed you acourting your affection
As surely as it's flowin down
I'll hear that high lonesome sound
Another solitary sun west bound
Towards lonesome sundown

Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown
Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown

Lonesome toil Lonesome task
Bring us comfort from the past
Stroll bold down the path quietly
So great what we don't have
Sun shining reminding us
Of comfort from weather beaten hands
Sunset homesick silhouette
Against the rope burned west

Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown
Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown

Feel no need to reason why the sun will rise and set
Just as I, burden are seen with no regret
Heading west out across the tracks
Then deep currents draw me back
Still waters can often hide the fact
Two hearts are crossed so deep

Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown
Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown
Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown
Lonesome sundown, lonesome sundown

*** Thanx a lot to Jeremy for these lyrics ***

Generosity

Remember we held you
Our bodies pressed against you
We required nothing more
Than what you provided for

The rings they tell me
How sickness befell thee
And all the wrongs we dealt thee
In spite of your generosity

It was all of my energy
More than I wanted to give
I am empty
I won't give more

Am I still invited to stay
I've worn my welcome
There was more before I came

We've eaten unrestrained
But now these green fruits will remain sour
These clouds we've made can not make rain

I gave you all of my energy
And you took it without thanks
You once showed such promise
But now I won't give more

I won't give more
(We just want more)
I won't give more
(We just want more)
I won't give more
(We just want more)
I won't give more...

The world is falling

We have spent rudderless nights waking up on a sail of regret
She'd sit up, upon the bed, and angled to the west
Dipped our fingers in, oh, the water, it was wet
Dampness and shame, salty curls around the napes of our necks

Punctured by the compass needles, riled with certainty
The rescue boats are useless when none of us can agree
Hear the briny call, the ocean's gusty gnashing of her teeth
Breaking up the pretty cups and taking what she needs

There's a knocking on the hull, you hear it
There's bones a-rattling under us
We set out without the smarts to fear it
With ignorance and gutless trust

Tell me once again if everything is as it seems
If things are getting better, what's that crashing down the stream
The wind, you say, the storm that came, remember our retreat
And darker days might come and stay, and signal our defeat

If drug up from the muck, I reel in what I hope will be
A trove of golden apples from the golden apple tree
Flush with fertile seeds, I give them all away for free
For this our people should be known throughout all history

But from here we crouch and watch the plunder
Of the world we built with sweat and love
Why were you not built for wonder
Why will you never get enough

You say when you landed you could tell
That your conquest would go well
Thought you wet yourself with fear
You were sure your god was near

The wind, you say, the storm that came
And darker days might come and stay

Education

And I received an education all the while
I've come to an understanding
When you say you love me sometimes
That's all you can give

Love might just be an economy
But I don't believe in property
We don't own nothing

And you wondered why I was so terrified
The night of our proclamation
Now do you understand
The risk we'd undertaken
Was a deer running free
'Til its last breath found your window
We killed and drove on indecently
Oh how you screamed

But I'll never change
You'll never change
I'll never change

Shells

You learned how to be a diver
Put on a mask and believe
Gather a dinner of shells for me
Take the tank down so you can breathe below
Movement's slow

You are an island
All the secrets until then
Pried open I held them

Until they were still
Until they were still
Until they were still

Country of the Future

And is it the carnival
I can't hear, it's too far away
But love, with me you'll always stay
No matter which street you walk upon

It's the same sun on us shining
But see how mine is cold and pining
For the heat that you bring
When you take me in your arms

Oh love, come dance a simple step with me
Oh love, let's move in time, feel the one-two-three
Oh love, can you hear the ocean's heart as mine
How it swells in size

And is it the carnival
Can you hear all the songs they play
Turning the night into the day
You're lost in the atmosphere

And if you need some part of me
When you're alone there by the sea
I'll sing you this message through the shell
That you press to your cheek

Oh love, when you look at the stars at night
Remember, oh love, it's my longing, makes them shine so bright
Because love has both captured and set us free
To each our own country

Oh love, when you look at the stars at night
Remember, oh love, it's my longing, makes them shine so bright
Because love has both captured and set us free
To each our own country

The Forest

When we went off away from the forest
We did travel far to get a taste of so much more
We dug up the roots of all the stories
Put them in a pot and brought them to a fiery roar
We fed on these things without a worry
Never gave a thought to the coming of the winter storm

Gone away, gone away, what was yesterday
Make a meal, make a bed, tuck your feet in
And resting elbows twice on a table can be nice
But the comforts, they can be deceiving

Now the seasons are not what they once seemed
The berries all are green though the sun is at a fine high crest
We lifted our shirts up in a hurry
Reaching for the belly hollow from the long cold rest
We slept off all the fat, but they'll be no more of that
'Cause there must be some disease 'neath the canopy

Swinging tails from trees, we can gather we need
Give away what we had a fair share of
And now the forks and knives with the sacrifice
With a pair only some can believe in

When we return, we'd find all the leaves have died
Have we all gone away for such a long time
We have a life so sweet and a nut to eat
Now it's all just bones and a long way away from home

Gone Are The Days

And we were just a child with a mist that children make
And we were running wild, no thoughts for what we'd break
But gone are all the days, gone are all the days
And once we learn to hide, our size did keep us safe
The sidewalk cracks were wide, but to jump them made us brave
But then the darkness came-a creeping over every place
Over time we took to sleeping, and let the weeds take over this place
Well, how about the backyard, sons and daughters
C'mon, we've got to get some work done
The bones, I'm told, they hold the place up, so why crack them away
The rocks we shake, and everything we take and still think will be ok
But gone are all the days, gone are all the days

Well, the limbs outside this house are dignified by the forces uncontained
And how we survive when the whales run dry, now their muscle does remain
For when we rode the thunder steely faced
And we kicked our heels into the belly of the chase
So becomes a garden soft and embracing to a hungry, hollow taste
If we keep building fires and fanning up the flames
Even the waters from our eyes will end up down at that place
But gone are all the days, gone are all the days
Still every morning's light and all the day it stays
Until it turns to night and then the future's on its way
And the future's never gonna lay down, it won't lay down its face
Hold that shoulder strong and carry it along, and steady it with grace

The River

Skies went dark, got hard to see my body all stretched out
Territory to touch and make a path to lead you down
If I could hold the wildest winds from blasting through my house
Then I could shine a beacon whether floats, fine, yes, or drowns (???)

But there was no heat, it all had been extinguished, snuffed right out
That was not the way I meant to disappoint the crowd
If you want my center, please don't slice so much around
And if you won't be having me, watch the sorrow shake my mouth

And you don't want to hurt me
But you don't want to need me
So how can you receive me?

Take a seat, don't grieving be, let's settle this all out
Then one by one, I'll take these from the caverns of my mouth
The teeth who mash and teeth who make my tender muscles shout
A last goodbye to lose what once I'd never known with out

And in my mind, the river runs, a straight line through the town
Never bending only sending stuff from north to south
Under bridges fishes wear the currents like a gown
And I will swallow crookedness, not let it drag me down

Afraid that if I cut you loose
You'd never again want me to
Embrace you in your solitude

Now in our eyes, we both still find the perfect place to rest
We'll unfold wings and fly a while, before the next caress
The atmosphere will hold us dear, and teach us how it's best
To both feel free and satisfied, our two souls will be blessed

Before my eyes, the fireflies they make the night sky low
Captured by the sounds of all the horns that the frogs blow
Through tears so thick, like glue they drip and build a castle slow
I can see you saved for me the sweetness that still glows

And though you're still my Hercules
Neptune's the one who's taken me
Come on, lay that strength upon my sea

Steady the string and snap it down the dust gets in my face
A borderline to not cross, mind our manners, keep in place
Still, I recall you once extended me with handsome haste
A rope to climb, to call all mine, to ascend you with grace

Now we will burn the fog away, our hearts are like the sun
We moved it now, that's a way down, and though the change was rough
We'll find our lives are kinder without complications of
The fear in me that had taken seed and crowded out the love

I want you and I let you go
Though we can still walk on the same road
If we don't try it, we'll never know

Bones & Skin

If you live inside the old graveyard
Your skin and bones get kind of hard
You blame it on all of the ones who left you

If you're in the closet with a broom
Why don't you sweep around the room
Make little piles of all the things you don't understand

But it's in the mouth, it's in the blood
It's sweet, the taste, the spit of love
Poor skin, too thick to understand
The gravity and graceful plans

In the place that's made of old relations
Where some got loved, some got hated
How absently you move around, how listless

How in the night the battle raged
Under the blankets, were we brave
At least enough to recognize the storm is just a storm

Shine the lights across the bridge
The surface you can't follow it
The glossy night, the wind in fits
Get girders buckling at their bits

Will I be this way when I'm dead
Will I go home and go to bed
Will I wake up and wonder
Did something happen here

The weatherman, well he should know
The doctor, too, from down below
They call to one another 'cross the riding in the night

Don't forget, you've got love
You've got bravery, you've got trust
You've got bodies, responsibilities
There's still mountains, they're pushing up from underneath
You've got pain, caused plenty of
It's not so strange but now you've had enough
Don't forget your bones and skin
Or where you go, or where you've been

While We Have the Sun

Let's take the time to walk together while we have the sun
You never know when temperamental weather's gonna come
And if you want to face the death you're never that far from
Just take a breath and sing to it when all the day is done

So sorry about all the sorrow in your life you'll know
It's true that all the ones you love will someday have to go
And every time you say goodbye you'll hear the trumpets blow

Thao & Mirah

Eleven

When love is love don't let it go away
My love is love it won't go away
Don't ever let anybody go
Why's it so hard to hold
How come I never know

I'm a traveling gentleman
I knew I would come back again
I swear our days are not lost on me
Please

So sorry that I couldn't cut the past away
I was hopin' hopin' I could hold you all the same
But I was broken I was like a paper weight
Holding nothing down from getting blown away

When we go we're not gonna take it all away
We'll just have to learn to give it in a different kind of way

I know about the human heart
I have been watching yours
Forgive me for the mess I left
It rained and then it poured
Too sweet for my mouth
Too soft for my hands

So sorry that I couldn't cut the past away
I was broken open but I held you all the same
Caught up in the corner hear me calling out your name
Oh won't you help me keep it open help me want to stay

Folks

Hold me I am weak
Dropped from the sky onto my knees
Raised by wolves of necessity
Come closer to me

Shout like I am near death
Reason like I have no sense
They fed me food and that is all
They fed me food and that is all

I use my body like a handshake
Count and see
All the friends I make

Please don't be
Upset with me
You know how you know
But you cannot believe

Little Cup

And you said you knew
How you were gonna take it
That you'd take it all
That you knew my heart was not that small

And how could we ever manage
Carts and horses could never carry all
I want to give, not give enough
I want to give, not give you love

I chose the strangest little cup
To drink you from and stir you up
And you were beautiful it's true
And all I ever wanted was to be
Good to you

And when you see me cry
You ask me but I think that
You already know why
I'm staring up at the sky

And you said you understood
But promises are not that good
In this improper marriage
Love and justice found miscarriage
At the only embassy
With an office for the damage

And when you see me cry
You ask me but I think that
You already know why
I'm staring up at the sky

Rubies and Rocks

I had it all, yes I believed
Everything I was holding effortlessly

Was made out of rubies and rocks, rocks, rocks
Out of diamonds and stones, stones, stones
With pearls I painted
Myself a home, home, home

Remember when I said
Oh baby please take me, on down the road of love
And never you mind, where the chains come from

Never wanted to stop, stop, stop
Just wanted to roll, roll, roll
You kept it hot, hot, hot
You knew how to hold me, but that would not hold

Now, was it that you set me free, when you did what you did to me
You said you were my family, but what does that really mean

When you let me drop, drop, drop
You just went cold, cold, cold
All the rubies and rocks, rocks, rocks
I bought got sold, sold, sold

Now everybody on the left side, and everybody on the right
Clap your hands and sing it to me, we've got all night

When you find it you've got to hold
Gotta keep that love in your life
All the hearts are gold, gold, gold
When they're shined up just right

Teeth

You have teeth I can't bear
I am out of here
I have teeth I must bare
I am out of here

What do you intend to do
To mark the end of this
When you hold
You are half letting go of it

This is the last time
I drag myself from your bed

I can't go
Please be kind
Let me loose, let me loose I said

Next time I swear
More hope less fail

Oh, how I have tried

But I have teeth I must bare

Spaced Out Orbit

Well I saw something that resembled that place
On the other side, where we were together
On the moon we walked and kicked up lots of dust
We made a space cloud of us
And of that stuff we were afraid of
We had a home there and in the glow we'd stare at each othe
At nothing other than each other
And I thought, nothing could ever touch us
Except the space dust all around us

But now there's something digging down, into the crust
Trying to find an ocean there, under the home we shared
They set their weight down
And like an earthquake we cracked
Was it the government who sent them?
Was it their scientific vision?
To destroy past recognition
They did approach without concern
And when they warned us of their plan we didn't listen
They would take our gentle light
Our moon and our whole life
Replace what we had grown with their ambition
And we would be sure to fail
If we began to form an opposition
Nobody's right they say
Nobody's wrong they say
We are generous and good
And we will have it our way, yes we will have it our way
They say now take all of your dust, your love and all your trust
We're sending you upon your final mission
And then I found myself in orbit
And the last thing I observed
The last words that I heard
Were 'don't forget to send in your transmissions,
We expect you to report on your condition'

Then I saw something that resembled that place
On the other side, where we were together

They will take our gentle light
Our moon and our whole life

How Dare You

Oh oh how dare you
This is how I dare to
I'm coming over to remind you of me
No you can't lay there, that's where we used to sleep
I swear it happens better when it happens again
I told you from the start, I could only see the end

Sugar if you're sure you're going
We'll move a little slower then
If you want I could be decent
But you gotta let me know when

You can have this much. It is left from before
I am sick with my effort, I am sick without yours

To be fair, to be fair, I never said I'd try
But I'll be fair, I'll be fair in how I spend your time
I can't help it, I should spare you
But I can't help it, I wouldn't dare to

Sugar and Plastic

Hello, today, are you still here in my home
My dear, we wake every day
But how can anybody stay when those lonesome tears
Don't even wash away in the morning
They don't even wash away in the morning

You see in the past there was a hopeful one
Who thought that love could last
But she got eaten by surprise in the pale moonrise
And all the nights gave up their night vision
That was the night she lost her night vision

And after you I ran so fast
And after you, I panted
But then I stumbled and I cracked it, sugar and plastic
There was just a shadow in the looking glass
Wanted to see more than a shadow in the looking glass

Likeable Man

Put your hands down your pants
Before your daddies do
What was love
In times like those
That made me old
And kept me loose

Oh dears my dears we are reduced
The waist above
The waist below
Oh dears, my dears what have we to lose
Tell your mothers they betrayed you so
Oh dears, my dears what else to lose
Tell your mothers they betrayed you so

Hallelujah

If you start to think that it's all over now
That the work you have done has been lost somehow
You wake up hungry in this world you've made
So much so how could you be turned away

Under thunder we drove through a black sky,
Paved with the threat we might die, oh we were so afraid
You can throw your body up against the glass but you can't stop the rain
From pouring in once the cracks have been made

But there's still time to sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

Who could stay sleepin' when that garbage man came?
He stormed up the street 'cause we called out his name
With the sounds of us choking on the mess that's been made
Dig us out from this slumber

We've given salt, we've sweated off, done all this and more
So heed when you hear us knockin' on your door
We don't want to be the currency gets spent on war
And then come home wondering what was it all for

That's no way to sing
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

We been hard hard working
We've got a plan
Send home dollar bills

And fistfuls of honey
We've been working working for that money

Squareneck

I can give you what you want
And none of all you don't
I can put the rest away
Just tell me where it goes

Don't you be afraid of me
I will not love you endlessly
Only until it buries me

Yes we can be careful
But first can we lay down
You can hold me still
You can move me round

Changing Light

Goat Shepherd

Said the goat to the shepherd
I will cut your throat
I will eat you whole
I will let you know
Who's in control of the mountain

I will go to the desert
I will dig down under the sand
I will never understand why you buried it there

And I will take all the treasures I have stolen
And I will go to the waters and I will set sail
And you will never, never, never find me there
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
Said the shepherd to the goat
What is this feeling in my throat
What is this feeling
What is this feeling
Of who's in control now of the mountain

We say, we give, we take
I love, you love, we try
But never know
The day I live to save
But find a hole
Is all you left behind

So this is anger
I've never known her
She took you over

Will I go to the waters
Will I watch you
And will I never, never, never find you

Oxen Hope

You sent me off without a warning
It wasn't just a threat and man that was no joke
Did you know you'd struck the final blow
To my faithful oxen hope

We thought we knew we wanted what we had
But you busted your side of the yoke
So I left with almost nothing but a gaping hole
Yes, I did really went for broke

No matter how much I weigh or like a boxer I've trained
Seems like the future's always gonna have its way
Of knocking me down, should I fold or spread
My fortune hand on this hard rock bed

And I don't question, no, I don't doubt
Now that I've tried living with and without
That love's a hard, hard muscle to grow
And harder still to let it go
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
We'd both commandeered a ship or two
We'd had our fun, yeah, we'd had a few
But when the wheel spun round and the water flowed
We were in hip deep before we felt the cold

And the rides we rode had danger in 'em
We thought we could last we were real strong swimmers
But we got flooded, yes, we got rolled
And we both went down soon as you cut the rope

I've been wondering lately if ever I'll find
Someone to hold me like you once held mine
Should I give up or should I keep on trying
Should I move on or should I keep on lying to myself

By saying it's all better this way
But all the life is gone, I had wanted to stay
Now I've grown up, yes I'm ages older
And I can feel that bearing down upon my shoulders

Turned the Heat Off

The fire lit, we held our hands
Close to it, yes we tried
To hold onto each others' lives
And breathe together all that time
But without oxygen we let it die

You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

What did you not want
What did you not want
When you turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

Because you know you know
That when it goes it goes
And when the coals get cold
Take 'em out, take 'em out

Tried to wrap up in what was left
But this season's loneliness
Was calling for an end
Oh the temperature, felt the drop
It started going down and could not stop
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

What did you not want
What did you not want
When you turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

What did you not want
What did you not want
When you turned the heat off
You turned the heat off

Gold Rush

Oh love when I get lonesome
I'm gonna call you up into my world
When waters rise up I do my best
To keep my home floating upon your chest

Oh love when I get lonesome
I'm gonna grow you up like you deserve
You'll be a big tree, branching around me
I'll be your baby, cradle me safely

Come on and hold me like I'm your girl
And I'll hold you like I'm your girl
In this the ending of the world

After the gold rush shook off the gold dust
After we'd taken more than God had meant for us
We dammed up plenty but still felt empty
The land was rich but we left it poor

And I've spent a fine sum, but I will share
I know you're thirsty and unprepared
When I wet my lips with love you'll feel me there
But then I'll run from you 'cause I'm scared

And I've trained myself to run this way
I've trained myself to fly
And I've dragged you all this way
Without an understanding why
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
And I'm holding on to nothing
Oh, I know that hurt your pride
I just thought I could keep you from the loss
Of having to say goodbye

Oh, but there's nothing ever saving us
From that we're gonna die
No, there's nothing ever saving us
From that we're gonna die

Come see my wide eyes, behold my wild mind
I love you, leave you here by my blindside
But when fourteen feet came on a flood tide
I still tried to keep us up, to hold us high

And I never meant to put you down
But this disaster that came through town
Rose up the sea and tunnels drowned
My boats broke free and battered you 'round

But if you hold me like I'm your girl
I'll still hold you like I'm your girl
In this the ending of the world
In this the ending of the world

Fleetfoot Ghost

You are the season I will not find again
Your weather is the reason I am wandering
And I'm just a feeling in the air you onced loved
Daughter of a mother nature's sun

And you won't find me in the rains that come
That soak the roots of where I set off
From thinking back the blossoms on my fine plum tree
Always seemed to flower too early

It wasn't just the words but the ways our bodies spoke
In the way you held my hands, the way you tied me up in ropes
And you said you'd never leave that you needed me the most
And then it all disappeared, was such a fleetfoot ghost
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
And we ate until we were empty
Not fattened by our century
And when we noticed we were still hungry
We were consumed by our tragedy

Now I feel the wind's blowing colder
But I am ready to get older
And I don't expect to see you anytime soon
But if you hear this know that I've been thinking of you
And if you find yourself again in a true love's nest
And you feel that same sweet holiness
Care for her and care for yourself
Learn to grow it in the light and in the darkness

I am the Garden

I did it wrong, though my boots were on
I planted all, I wanted roots and love songs
But the dirt was dry, and the seeds weren't strong
Now they've gone wild where they don't belong

I am the garden
I have all the fruits you wanted
I am the garden
Just stand open hands

And what do all the friends and neighbors have to say
When every leaf uncurls in the likeness of my face
And I am haunted by my leaving of that place
And now the scarecrow of my ghost keeps me away
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
And now I hold nothing much
And I have grown my babies up
How I moved, I was a great machine
And it was true, I gave life to everything

I am the garden
I have all the fruits you wanted
I am the garden
Just stand open hands

When I wasn't welcome anymore in the same way
You shut me up on the wrong side of the garden gate
And I wondered how to scale the fence I'd made
But I gave up that hope and surrendered to the change

I did it wrong, though my boots were on
I planted all, I wanted roots and love songs
But the dirt was dry, and the seeds weren't strong
Now they've gone wild where they don't belong

I am
I have all
I am
Just stand open hands
Just stand open hands
Just stand open hands
Just stand open hands

No Direction Home

I was just on my way down
My way down, my way down
Now I will empty them out
All the rooms in your house
Flew all those words from my mouth
Just like birds taking south

No direction home
Just give it all up slow
There was no saving all we'd grown
Welcome my love to go

I used to walk through your room
'Cause you liked it in the light
My skin always felt just right
So you told me I was the only
You used to hold me like that
Hold me up, hold me down
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
No direction home
Love it as it goes
This is a sorrow everyone knows
Just move, move with it slow

Kept round my neck how we'd soldiered
But I gave it up, pray for us
You wish you had hurt me less
But I know its better like this
With our separateness
Now I might open if I saw you
But I don't know you
I don't know you

No direction home
Just give it all up slow
This is a sorrow everyone knows
Welcome my love to go

24th St.

Honey I don't want to treat you bad
But I'm gonna leave you
Don't you think it's best that you know now
Instead of waiting to see if I come around
So you won't be wasting it

But if you want to spend time with me now
I can love you deeply
Afternoons we'll spend 'em rolling 'round
So nice and easy
Make for me my dinner make me proud
You know how to feed me
And you know I won't be wasting it

You showed me how the water works
It pushes its way through the dirt
It finds the rocks and grinds 'em soft
It makes 'em move
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
But forces old have made me built
To withstand what you do
See this rolling stone without a home
Slipping out from under you

Who's the best at breaking up, honey
It's a skill I oughta be working on changing
But I'm not about to, no, no not with you

'Cause you know there's nothing wrong with me
There's nothing wrong with you
It's not about what you don't have
Or what I've been through

Nobody's gonna teach me how
To settle down its true
Why don't you just take what I've got for now
And then see how we do

It's not about what it's not
It's all about what we've got
It's not about what it's not
It's all about what we've got

Honey I don't want to treat you bad
But I'm gonna leave you
Just want you to love me not be mad
I know we've spent some time together now
But can you let me be the way I am
Come on, let's not be wasting it

LC

We married him on fire
Like the nuns who marry God
Then we jumped out of the airplane
And trusted we would fall

Then we traveled through the mountains
With our bodies weighted down
By the perfect love we visioned
In the absence of all sound

Though he was a faithful tailor
Our deeds we must confess
We loved so many others
Despite our wedding dress

So when the lace snagged on the fender
Of the car he left to drive
When we took it on a bender
When we took it for a ride
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
We wound up thirsty in this jail cell
But we've heard he's headed here
To excavate this holy well
And pour it crystal clear

And we filled our cup with silence
And the words who keep in time
With the song that he will sing us
As forgiveness for our crime

Oh love it's true you're golden throated
And your history is long
And you've had so many lovely
Creatures occupy your songs

So may we take you to the altar
We'll feed you bread and wine
And be swimming in the fountain
With you til the end of time

Radiomind

All days and all nights I spend dreaming
I'm fine with it 'cause I find it pleasing
To get slow when I get below the time
When I'm listening to the radio of my mind

Old tapes and old mistakes are teachers
I can turn up or disconnect the speakers
I've played 'em all a hundred times
On the radio of my mind

I rode the streets of love receiving
I've moved around I've done some leaving
I've laid it on the table and I've been taken down
But I always had the radio of my mind
Copy paste is a sin, always on the run is better
Playing some rock and roll
Take me back east coast
Hold me don't let me go
It was raining so you drove me home

Cut open something new
What did I find
We're making apple trees
With what's inside

And now you'll grow with me every night
We'll be strong and sweet
By keeping up the light
So sings the radio

Now all the days and nights that I'm dreaming
I get to breathe the breath you're breathing
It's been a long way back to believing
Someone can love me and the radio of my mind

You can love me and the radio
You can love me and the radio
I can love you with the radio
I can love you with the radio
I can love you with the radio, the radio of my mind

Counting

Round and round goes the whole game
Power takes and power aims
Round and round goes the whole game
I take power with this way

We love to death our money
We love to death our gods
We're blowing up for money
We're blowing up for gods

No rules left
No room left

We love to death our money
We love to death our gods
We're blowing up for money
We're blowing up for gods

Information

Hold you back from a long way down
You can tell me you're feeling ‘round
‘fore the things you lost ‘fore the things you found
When you were younger than you're feeling now
When you were younger than you're feeling now

We can all get lost in time
We can read the papers fine
But you'll lose your heart and you'll waste your mind
If the information doesn't make you kind
We want the information to make us kind

But if you put up a wall to protect your side
And you stuff your faces with mean ‘ol lies
This is how you will kill and die
America

Give us all an open road
Give us all a hand to hold
It's time to understand how to make things whole
In America

What holds you back from a long way down
What gets you grown up from the ground
Doing something more than just sitting round
You won't get younger than you're feeling now/can we be free?
You won't get younger than you're feeling now/can we be free?

So don't get lost too lost in time
When you read the papers, find
How not to lose your heart or to waste your mind
'Cause we want the information to make us kind
We want the information to make us kind

But if you put up a wall to protect your side
And you stuff your faces with mean ‘ol lies
This is how you will kill and die
In America

Won't you give us a hand a hand to hold
So you can understand how this world rolls
Give us all an open road
America

Lake/Ocean

The lake was as big as an ocean
An ocean of my fears
The mountains rise clouds in my eyes
I brought myself out here

Hear the hum of hummingbird wings
The call of everything
My heart's elephant-sized with love of life
But in the dark its too loud loud loud loud

In the day I am fine to be floating the line
Above and below the water
A shallow dive is no less a try
To see underneath you don't have to go deep

When the water's this clear
If you look down once you could fall through
But that's not what I want to do
That's not what I want to do

Every day becomes night sure as rain is right
That's when I want you here
When the sky eats up all of the light
I want that to feel blanket-like

But my bare-eyed view only lets through
A few thousand pinpricks whispering blue
While the rest of the black takes me all the way back
With a space echo hum of the universe drums

In a vacuum void of any dreams I've dreamed
I can't lay myself down under this feeling
I stare and stare and wait for things
With the goldenrod and the pines and rocks

Lighthouse

And your baby's hanging on, looking at pictures on the phone
You're back at home while I've gone away
We thought it wouldn't feel long, ‘cause aren't we so independent
But the wind out here is strong it blew right through those confidences

And the sky's been coming down as if the green could get more green
As if the poppies had just thirst and thought the sun was just a dream
The water on the road looks like a river lost control
Spilling out the seams and soaking through my jeans

And I run up to the hill, run right through the battery
The military men have gone and left this all to me
Listen the wind is making songs in the trees all the day long
They're singing more than me, they're making their own reveille

I want the lighthouse to be on
When the evening's coming on
‘Cause when the lighthouse isn't on
The night can feel so long
Turn on the lighthouse, turn it on
So the nights don't feel so long

I'm just out here watching clouds, I could be famous for doing this
Just thinking thoughts there's nothing to it
And in the days I make it right, I've got my work to do
I can clean up the windows and serenade the view

But when the sky gets darkened down, I just want to be known by you
In our lighthouse, I can feel you feel it too

I want the lighthouse to be on
When the evenings coming on
‘Cause when the lighthouse isn't on
The night can feel so long
Turn on the lighthouse, turn it on
Put the million candles on

I want the lighthouse to be on
When the evenings coming on
‘Cause when the lighthouse isn't on
The night can feel so long
Turn on the lighthouse, turn it on
Put the million candles on

Blinded By The Pretty Light

You head out on a restless wing
And set yourself to wandering
Wake up in the morning sun
Though blinded by the pretty light
Think you can find your way without your sight

Pass the hours to darkness falling
How the twilight does become you
And the stars do twirl around
The deep night above
The deep night above

You have a dream you help someone
You dreamt that you were needed
But in all the days that passed
No open arms were seeking

By your body to be held
In your heart to feel the beating
To hear you say
"Use my breath for your own breathing
Because in you I am believing"

You want to forget
How it feels to be lonesome
To have all your friends around you
But you go off and live without them

You want to remember
How it feels to love someone
How to see your body right
I will be your body right
I will see your body right

Ordinary Day

It's called an ordinary day, but that doesn't describe it
What's called an ordinary day has so much inside
I gaze up to the sky with dreams dancing from my eyes
On every ordinary day with you

I get such a thrill, I do
'Cause I've got magic streaming off my shoulders from you
And we get such a thrill, we do
'Cause we spend all our nights holding on like we like to

And it's called an ordinary day but that doesn't describe it
What's called an ordinary day has so much inside
I wake up with your eyes, and trace fingers all around
Our sleepy sighs, on every ordinary day

With you is a chance
At making more music and fine romance
And if our balance gets funny we fall
But we brush ourselves off, we don't mind at all

We wake up to the blue
And we can still see the moon
In a winter stance lookin' like she's got a lot to do
Oh to roll in the heavens and represent so much
Why do we pin our dreams on the mysteries above
But we can't help ourselves from falling in love
Even when this round world has gotten so fucked up

We won't stop falling in love
No, we won't stop falling in love
Don't stop falling in love
No, don't stop falling in love

We won't stop falling in love
No, we won't stop falling in love
Don't stop falling in love
No, don't stop falling in love

Hot Hot

If anything tries to hold you back we won't let it
We'll make it stop stop
We'll make it stop stop

Try to keep your tires on the road even when the wind picks up
You can keep it calm calm
Even if you roll off

You got a good thing baby don't waste it
Don't waste it, no
Keep keepin' it hot hot
Keep keeping it hot hot

If we were clouds we'd be making prisms of light
Holding up the rain all cool and bright
Wouldn't that feel good, wouldn't that feel so right
Keep moving along along, keep keeping up what you want

So when I heard that I heard that I could stay
And hold me and hold me so I'm safe
I like when, I know me, I'm ok
I'll get back to myself one of these days

You've got the whole team on your side
We've got this one we do
We've got the life life
We keep the power on for you

If the clouds stay low
Oh, sometimes they do
You just might get a little wet
Before they burn through

You know beauty comes with age
You can't help but keep on
Getting more hot hot
With every brave thought
Hot hot
With every brave thought

So when I heard that I heard that I could stay
And hold me and hold me so I'm safe
I like when, I know me, I'm ok
I'll get back to myself one of these days
One of these days
One of these days
One of these days

Don't listen don't listen when they say the bad
Get up, get on the porch, take it on back girl take it on back
Keep your heart together
Get your mind relaxed
Step in time together
Let's feel the power coming back

Hot hot
Hot hot
Hot hot

Love Jetty

We sit on rocks by the ocean
On the jetty in the sun so fine
The wind is strong and it blows in
I'm holding on to you so tight

My heart is filled with emotion
I'm gonna be gone for a while
We know we're bound to feel lonesome
Even though we like to be alone sometimes

I've got my bags packed
But I'm already counting the days
Until I get back home
When you drive me to the plane
I don't want to get on,
I just want to stay
On the jetty with you

The sign says keep off, but we don't care
That sign couldn't keep us, from climbing out there
We're just making some heat, on a chilly day
Nobody follows the rules around here anyway

I've got my bags packed
But I'm already counting the days
Until I get back home
When you drive me to the plane
I don't want to get on,
I just want to stay
On the jetty with you

We sit on rocks by the ocean
Wasn't too far to get out here
My heart is filled with emotion,
I'll sing it to you

Coast to coast I miss you
And I want you to know
I've got to trick myself into leaving
Every time I go
But I'm gonna I'll call you every day
Just to hear you say my name
I'll call you every day
Just to hear you say my name

The jetty is rocks rocks
But we're making it soft soft
The jetty is rocks rocks
But we're making it soft soft

Sundial

We look to the strongest light in the sky
We've been living here since the dawn of time
We don't count the days we've got the sun inside
And we've been watching you this whole while

Some of us have roots and some have wings that fly
But we are like you we all get born and die
We can teach you how to know what's wrong and right
By showing you how much we love about this life

We don't take too much
We have the light it's just enough
When we go we don't mind
We give life we give life

Look at all the beauty that the light has raised
A garden like a heaven on the earth we make
Why would you go off looking for another whole world
When you could just love this one that welcomes you

Energy

We only know, that it's not that easy
When time together is gone
It's not for us, to say how long
To say how good, to say how strong

We are turning in the night to our lovers love light
For some holding on, for some good songs
And to reconcile, all we will lose
'Cause we can't choose, no we can't choose

How the day falls, how the stars lift
We can just, we can just give tenderness
Let's try to get old together but even if we check the weather
We might never be prepared for what comes

But I'll take care, of what I can
I'll give thanks to my parents
For giving me this body for my soul to breathe
It's in here that I keep making memories

And I will hold on, I will hold onto these
For when time together is done
And I feel so much love for the people who've come with me
Even when I've been kicking and crying

When I'm mad and I'm burdened, and I'm feeling uncertain
And I just want to lay down my mind
I'll wake up again, and a new day begin
With more energy

And I will hold on, I will hold onto these

And I feel so much love for the people who've come with me
Even when I've been kicking and crying
When I'm mad and I'm burdened, and I'm feeling uncertain
And I just want to lay down my mind
I'll wake up again, and a new day begin
With more energy

1982 (atari)

( Storageland EP )

1982, i'm playing atari
In my living room
I am learning how to play breakout

Use my paddle, use my joystick
I am winning against the odds of hand eye coordination
I am winning against my brother

Frogger! Remember that game?
I'm a frog crossing the street
And many cars are trying to run me over

Frogger! I'm a frog
Breakout! You're a dog
You're a dog for trying to run me over

Frogger! I'm a frog
Breakout! You're a dog
You're a dog for trying to run me over

Dancing in the dark

( Bruce Springsteen cover )

I get up in the evening
And I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning
I go to bed feelin' the same way

I ain't nothing but tired
Man I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby
I could use just a little help

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

Message just keep getting clearer
Radio's on and I'm moving 'round my place
I check my look in the mirror
I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face

Man, I ain't getting nowhere
I'm just living in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
Baby I, I just know that there is

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

You sit around getting older
There's a joke here somewhere and it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
Come on baby this laugh's on me

Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carving you up alright
They say you gotta stay hungry
Hey baby, I'm just about starving tonight

I'm dying for some action
I'm sick of sitting 'round here tryin' to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now baby just give me one more look

You can't start a fire
Sitting 'round cryin' over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

You can't start a fire
Worryin' about your little world fallin' apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Even if we're just dancing in the dark

Girland

( Parts of Human Desire EP )

Looking looking looking looking
And i'll take it
Welcome to my life sometimes i love it i hate it
I'll be the sucker baker candlestick maker
Get kicked out by the landlord emancipator
From girl land girl land
Girl land girl land
Girl land girl land
Girl land girl land

I watch a train
Cut through a town
Ringaling
Jingaling
Cut through a town
My heart wants to cut through the streets with my renegade steam
Run up to the front porch and scream
Girl land girl land (x8)

I know a place
Where i use to live
I use to live in
A place that i knew
The cats and the christians
Would meet in the streets
I wish they'd run each other over and
Leave me be in my
Girl land girl land (x8)

Green Up Time

( Mirah ft. Tara Jane O'Neil & Jef Brown VA – Play, 2007 )

Yesterday morning I did see
Blossoms on the apple tree
I took a breath and far it could be
It's green up time

Then I began to look around
And in every field I found
Greens were pushing up through the ground
For green up time

And sure enough the bluebells tinkle
April in the glen
And sure enough I fell in love
With love again

Then I started feeling awful bright
Had a thought that hit me right
I'll have my handy dance me tonight
And have a time, to welcome in the
Green up time

There's news, the greatest news you've ever heard
There's news, a wonderful event has occurred
Can't you see it everywhere?
Can't you smell it in the air?

Yesterday morning I did see
Blossoms on the apple tree
I took a breath and far it could be
It's green up time

Then I began to look around
And in every field I found
Greens were pushing up through the ground
For green up time

And sure enough the bluebells tinkle
April in the glen
And sure enough I fell in love
With love again

Then I started feeling awful bright
Had a thought that hit me right
I'll have my handy dance me tonight
And have a time, to welcome in the green up time
To welcome in the green up time
Green up time

Gonna touch one
Breaking into everything
Pull a fast one

I'm alive

In A Sailboat

( Storageland EP )

We are in a sailboat and
The wind is picking us up
And putting us down
In another town

We are in a sailboat and
This other town is still
The storm has blown over
It's over

We are in a sailboat and
There's nothing left to do
But wait and wait
And wait

Floating here (floating here)
Floating there (floating there)
(Repeat x3)

We are in a sailboat and
The water is so still
We can see the animals down there

We are in a sailboat and
The animals look up to say
It's time to go home
They're sending us home

We are in a sailboat and
The moon comes up to shine
Like a big opal in the sky

Going home (going home)
Paddle boat (paddle boat)
I'm rowing home (I'm rowing home)
Paddle boat (paddle boat)
(Repeat x2 and fade)

Love Minus Zero

( A Tribute to Bob Dylan's 'Bringing It All Back Home' LP )

My love she speaks like silence
Without ideals or violence
She doesn't have to say she's faithful
Yet she's true, like ice, like fire

People carry roses
Make promises by the hours
My love she laughs like the flowers
Valentines can't buy her

In the dime stores and bus stations
People talk of situations
Read books, repeat quotations
Draw conclusions on the wall

Some speak of the future
My love she speaks softly
My love she's like some raven
At my window with a broken wing

Precious Little Rocket

( Projector Compilation )

My heart is ice housed inside my chest
Attic full of dreams
Every time i see you i'm such a mess
Oh you know what that means
You know what that means

You see everybody knows you
And everybody else knows me
You don't even know the goods you're missing
Every time look over me
I'm special you see

Screw this solitaire, to really play the game
You just enter to win
I can tell you that my prize
Is something sweet to have
Something sweet to have

I'll be like a chain in your pocket
A lit up lightbulb socket
Your precious little rocket
Your precious little rocket

In my little house with the lights on
Very Late at night
You could throw some bottlecaps at my
Window then i'd know
I'd know it was you

You could give a little knock here
Just stop by to see
I'd so like to get to know you
And my house is empty
I'm here all alone

Hey help me open the curtains
And let's break the lock on the door
We could smash all the windows
And bulldoze the floor
We'd bulldoze the floor

I'll be like a chain in your pocket
A lit up lightbulb socket
Your precious little rocket
Your precious little rocket

I'll be like a chain in your pocket
A lined up and true lively sprocket
Your precious little rocket
Your precious little rocket

Pretty Eyes

( Storageland EP )

Wake up in the morning and i can see
There's something about you that's following me

The sun's in my heart, the stars in the sky
I just wanna tell you, you have such pretty eyes

I'll go out in the world
I might get tired and
When i finally feel like
Coming home again

But what will i find here
After walking on the whole wide world
Maybe i'll find your pretty eyes
Maybe i'll find your pretty eyes

The tracks they lead right to your ocean side
I'm scratching my head can't you see that i'm trying
Life is a road and love is a car
I'm old enough now so teach me all about driving

But what will i find here
After walking on the whole wide world
Maybe i'll find your pretty eyes
Maybe i'll find your pretty eyes

Storm

( Storageland EP )

If i'd read the newspaper
If i'd seen the tv
If i'd listened to the radio
I'd know

Maybe i know better
If it's cold put on another sweater
I wish i knew about the weather

Sometimes i think my whole face is gonna blow
I listen to my blood, it makes me cry
It scares me just to know that i'm alive
It scares me just to know that i'm alive

The storm blew in all over me
Maybe it's just minor injury
But my fingers and my head are rather tired

The travel, the trav...(going under)
The speed, oh, the spee...(it's supernatural)
The loss of, the loss...(of gravity's pull)

I'm going around on the top like a little bug
The trees are lucky their legs did reach so far
Better than me with a crazy heart and a dumb guitar
Better than me with a crazy heart and a dumb guitar
Better than me with a crazy heart and a dumb guitar

Telescope

( Storageland EP )

I'm looking up through the telescope lens
I'm wondering where does the universe end
I'll take my clothes off for meteor showers
I'll take my clothes off and climb into bed

But all the stars that shoot in the sky
They're falling in love with the sun
They're falling in love with the sun

You're terribly happy that I came home early
I've fallen asleep in the afternoon
Get under the covers i'll give you some kisses
And we'll lie on the roof and stare up at the moon

But all the dumb cats in my neighborhood
I know they'll get me soon
They'll find a way into my room

Oh tell me a secret and tell me a story
Lets make up plans that will never come true
This is delicious, hey thanks for the dinner
I hear footsteps approaching, I'm hoping it's you

But all the blankets on the bed
They're tangled in heaps around you
I can't get my arms around you
They're tangled in heaps around you
I can't get my arms around you

Tumwater Falls

( Yoyo A Go Go Compilation )

Take me to the waterfall
Let me walk along the wall
Nice day for a picnic basket
Hope my shoes have got good traction

Water makes a scary sound
It wants to pull me, push me down
I better get used to it though
The tide is high the tides is low

I look through my fingers
And it's easy to believe
That the water that is falling
Really wants to swallow me

It's a nice day at tumwater falls
If it's not the water then it's nothing at all

It's a nice day at tumwater falls
If it's not the water then it's nothing at all

(Repeat)

Wedding Song

Your love fell quickly down from the stars that night
And I fell through into your arms
I'm guessing that we'll never have to part
It's been like this from the start
You're my dream come true
The very thought of you meakes me weak
I can hardly keep on my feet
I'm guessing that we'll never have to part
It's been like this from the start
You told me what life could be on Jupiter and Mars
Your love is so strong it's like a spaceship to the stars
Even on a cloudy day I can hear you say to me
You're the one I'm dreaming of
I'm guessing that we'll never have to part
It's been like this from the start
I'm guessing that we'll never have to part
It's been like this from the start

Where's My Heart

( Storageland EP )

Where's my heart
Not on my sleeve
Cut in my throat
A little choke

I don't wear
My heart on my sleeve
It might get caught
In the machines

What's the most
Delicious to eat
What fruit should i be
What fruit should i be

Where's my heart
I threw it out with the garbage on thursday
Used it to water the plants
I dropped it in the street on the way back from yr house
It's waiting outside the movie theatre all alone

Where's my heart
Not on my sleeve
Caught in my throat
A little choke
