B i o g r a p h y
 (by Zac Johnson)

Sultry vocalist and pianist Norah Jones developed her unique blend of jazz and traditional vocal pop with hints of bluesy country and contemporary folk due in large part to her unique upbringing. Born March 30, 1979, in New York City, the daughter of Ravi Shankar quietly grew up in Texas with her mother. While she always found the music of Billie Holiday and Bill Evans both intriguing and comforting, she didn't really explore jazz until attending Dallas' Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. During high school, Jones won the Down Beat Student Music Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist and Best Original Composition in 1996, and earned a second Best Jazz Vocalist award in 1997. Putting her vocal talents on the back burner, Jones worked toward earning a degree in jazz piano at the University of North Texas for two years before accepting a friend's offer of a summer sublet in Greenwich Village during the summer of 1999.

Although she fully intended to return to college that fall, the lure of the folk coffeehouses and jazz clubs proved too strong and she was soon inspired to write her own songs. Jones appeared regularly with the trip-hop-electronica band Wax Poetic and assembled her own group around songwriters Jesse Harris (guitar) and Lee Alexander (bass), with Dan Rieser on drums. In October of 2000, the group recorded a handful of demos for Blue Note Records and on the strength of these recordings, Jones signed to the jazz label in early 2001. Following an appearance on Charlie Hunter's Songs from the Analog Playground, Jones spent much of 2001 performing live with Hunter's group and working on material for her debut.

Come Away with Me, recorded by Craig Street (Cassandra Wilson, Manhattan Transfer, k.d. lang) and legendary producer Arif Mardin (Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, the Bee Gees), was released in early 2002 and garnered much public attention. The combination of her striking beauty and the fact that she was the daughter of an internationally renowned musician placed Jones in the awkward position of defending her music from those who dismissed her as another pretty face (the same argument used by those opposed to Diana Krall) and/or another riding the coattails of her musical royal heritage (see Natalie Cole, Miki Coltrane, Corey Parker). Although not by any stretch a "jazz" album (the label chose to call it "jazz-informed"), it featured jazz guitarist Bill Frisell and session drummer Brian Blade, and indicated a new direction for Blue Note combining jazz aesthetics and talent with a pop sensibility. Come Away with Me eventually went multi-platinum, selling 18 million copies worldwide and winning Jones eight Grammy Awards.

In 2004, Jones released her highly anticipated follow-up album, Feels Like Home. Pairing once again with producer Arif Mardin, Jones pursued a similar approach to Come Away with Me, mixing '70s singer/songwriter-style tracks with blues, country, and her own mellow take on piano jazz. In 2003, Jones played in a group called the Little Willies along with Lee Alexander (bass), Richard Julian (guitar/vocals), Dan Rieser (drums), and Jim Campilongo (guitar), playing covers of classic American music like Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. This one-off performance ultimately turned into sporadic shows at the venue whenever their individual schedules would allow, slowly incorporating original songs into their set along the way. In time, the Little Willies began considering the release of a live album, but instead wound up documenting their sound in the recording studio. Milking Bull Records issued the resultant self-titled album in March 2006.

Late in 2006, the single "Thinking About You" announced a return to her solo career. It landed on the album Not Too Late, released in early 2007. The Fall arrived in 2009, followed in 2010 by ...Featuring Norah Jones, a collection of musical collaborations. The following year Jones was asked to provide some vocals for Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) and Italian composer Daniele Luppi's spaghetti Western project, Rome. Burton returned the favor in 2012 by producing and co-writing the songs on Jones' fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts. She next teamed with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong in a project to re-create the classic 1958 Everly Brothers album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. Recorded in nine days with bassist Tim Luntzel and drummer Dan Rieser, Foreverly was released in 2013.

Come away with me

Don't know why

I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind forever

Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road alone

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind forever

Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum

I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

Seven Years

Spinning, laughing
Dancing to her favorite song
A little girl with nothing wrong
Is all alone

Eyes wide open
Always hoping for the sun
And she'll sing her song to anyone
That comes along

Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin' to the ground
Without a sound

Crooked little smile on her face
Tells a tale of grace
That's all her own

Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin' to the ground
Without a sound

Spinning, laughing
Dancing to her favorite song
She's a little girl with nothing wrong
And she's all alone
A little girl with nothing wrong
And she's all alone

Cold cold heart

I've tried so hard, my dear, to show
That you're my every dream
Yet you're afraid each thing I do
Is just some evil scheme

A memory from your lonesome past
Keeps us so far apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Another love before my time
Made your heart sad and blue
And so my heart is paying now
For things I didn't do

In anger, unkind words I said
That make the teardrops start
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

There was a time when I believed
That you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled
To a memory

The more I learn to care for you
The more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Feelin' the same way

The sun just slipped its note below my door
And I can't hide beneath my sheets
I've read the words before so now I know
The time has come again for me

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

Another day that I can't find my head
My feet don't look like they're my own
I'll try and find the floor below to stand
And I hope I reach it once again

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

So many times I wonder where I've gone
And how I found my way back in
I look around awhile for something lost
Maybe I'll find it in the end

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend

And I'm feelin' the same way all over again
Feelin' the same way all over again
Singin' the same lines all over again
No matter how much I pretend
No matter how much I pretend

Come away with me

Come away with me in the night
Come away with me
And I will write you a song

Come away with me on a bus
Come away where they can't tempt us
With their lies

And I wanna walk with you
On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come?

Come away with me, and we'll kiss
On a mountaintop
Come away with me
And I'll never stop lovin' you

And I wanna wake up with the rain
Fallin' on a tin roof
While I'm safe there in your arms
So all I ask is for you
To come away with me in the night
Come away with me

Shoot the moon

The summer days are gone too soon
You shoot the moon and miss completely
And now you're left to face the gloom
The empty room that once smelled sweetly

Of all the flowers you plucked if only
You knew the reason
Why you had to each be lonely
Was it just the season

And now the fall is here again
You can't begin to give in, it's all over
When the snows come rolling through
You're rolling too with some new lover

Will you think of times you told me
That you knew the reason
Why we had to each be lonely
It was just the season

Will you think of times you told me
That you knew the reason
Why we had to each be lonely
It was just the season

Turn me on

Like a flower waiting to bloom
Like a lightbulb in a dark room
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

Like the desert waiting for the rain
Like a schoolkid waiting for the spring
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

And my poor heart, it's been so dark
Since you've been gone
After all, you're the one who turns me off
But you're the only one who can turn me back on

My hi-fi is waiting for a new tune
My glass is waiting for some fresh ice cubes
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on
Turn me on

*** Thanx a lot to Esther for this one ***

Lonestar

Lonestar, where are you out tonight?
This feeling I'm trying to fight
It's dark and I think that
I would give anything
For you to shine down on me

How far you are
I just don't know
The distance I'm willing to go
I pick up a stone that I cast to the sky
Hoping for some kind of sign

Lonestar, where are you out tonight?
This feeling I'm trying to fight
It's dark and I think that
I would give anything
For you to shine down on me
For you to shine down on me

I've got to see you

Lines on your face don't bother me
Down in my chair when you dance over me
I can't help myself
I've got to see you again

Late in the night when I'm all alone
And I look at the clock and I know you're not home
I can't help myself
I've got to see you again

I could almost go there
Just to watch you be seen
I could almost go there
Just to live in a dream

But no I won't go for any of those things
To not touch your skin is not why I sing
I can't help myself
I've got to see you again

I could almost go there
Just to watch you be seen
I could almost go there
Just to live in a dream

No I won't go to share you with them
But oh even though I know where you've been
I can't help myself
I've got to see you again

Painter song

If I were a painter
I would paint my reverie
If that's the only way for you to be with me

We'd be there together
Just like we used to be
Underneath the swirling skies for all to see

And I'm dreaming of a place
Where I could see your face
And I think my brush would take me there
But only...

If I were a painter
And could paint a memory
I'd climb inside the swirling skies to be
With you
I'd climb inside the skies to be with you

One flight down

One flight down
There's a song on low
And your mind just picked up on the sound
Now you know you're wrong
Because it drifts like smoke
And it's been there playing all along
Now you know
Now you know

The reeds and brass have been weaving
Leading into a single note

In this place
Where your arms unfold
Here at last you see your ancient face
Now you know
Now you know

The cadence rolls in broken
Plays it over and then goes

One flight down
There's a song on low
And it's been there playing all along
Now you know
Now you know

Nightingale

Nightingale
Sing us a song
Of a love that once belonged
Nightingale
Tell me your tale
Was your journey far too long?

Does it seem like I'm looking for an answer
To a question I can't ask
I don't know which way the feather falls
Or if I should blow it to the left

Nightingale
Sing us a song
Of a love that once belonged
Nightingale
Tell me your tale
Was your journey far too long?

All the voices that are spinnin' around me
Trying to tell me what to say
Can I fly right behind you
And you can take me away
You can take me away

The long day is over

Feeling tired
By the fire
The long day is over

The wind is gone
Asleep at dawn
The embers burn on

With no reprise
The sun will rise
The long day is over

The nearness of you

(Hoagy Carmichael & Ned Washington)

It's not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me
Oh, no
It's just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation
Oh, no
It's just the nearness of you

When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams came true

I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you will only grant me the right
To hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you

New York City

New York City

I can't remember what I planned tomorrow
I can't remember when it's time to go
When I look in the mirror
Tracing lines with a pencil
I remember what came before

I wanted to think there was endless love
Until I saw the light dim in your eyes
In the dead of the night I found out
Sometimes there's love that won't survive

New York City
Such a beautiful disease
New York City
Such a beautiful,
Such a beautiful disease

Laura kept all her disappointments
Locked up in a box behind her closet door
She pulled the blinds and listened to the thunder
With no way out from the family store

We all told her things could get better
When you just say goodbye
I'll lay awake one more night
Caught in a vision I want to deny

And did I mention the note that I found
Taped to my locked front door
It talked about no regrets
As it slipped from my hand to the scuffed tile floor

I rode the train for hours on end
And watched the people pass me by
It could be that it has no end
Just an action junkie's lullaby

New York City

We were full of the stuff that every dream rested
As if floating on a lumpy pillow sky
Caught up in the whole illusion
That dreams never pass us by
Came to a tattoed conclusion
That the big one was knocking on the door
What started as a mass delusion
Would take me far from the place I adore

New York City

Strange Transmissions

I believe, you say
Don't think, we'll stay
Drawn through the ebb
Lost in the flower

Beneath my breath, I confess
My world, loved less
The devil held the proof for me to know

I could only fight for the longest while
But with the truth out baby
I belong to you

I stoop, to find
My place, entwined
I took it to the bottom one more time

I could only fight for the longest while
But with the truth out baby
I belong to you

I could trip and I want you to know
Every time I think that I think I should go
I receive strange transmissions

I could trip and I want you to know
Every time I think that I think I should go
I receive strange transmissions

I could only fight for the longest while
But with the truth out baby
I belong to you

I could trip and I want you to know
Every time I think that I think I should go
I receive strange transmissions

I could trip and I want you to know
Every time I think that I think I should go
I receive strange transmissions

Deceptively yours

I couldn't make a change
I might have known you had found
Another love
I sat at home all night
Bask in the lonely pale
Of my bedstand light

But through a tear in a curtain
In a cheap motel
I saw with jealous eyes
You made the call to lie
Deceptively yours

I saw a black cloud
I didn't hear a sound
Only the shell on the ground
There was a scream somewhere
And in the thick night air
I put the pedal down
As the sirens wailed
And I sat alone and prayed
Not knowing what was to come

But through a tear in a curtain
In a cheap motel
I saw with jealous eyes
You made the call to lie
Deceptively yours

I tried not to believe
Teh scene that I could see
It felt like days passez by
Before I truend away
I felt a dizzy sway
And the gun in my hand
Stood before a judge

He cleared his throat to say
"I won't give you no bail"
Schackled with chains or love
I knew that I had bought
My own coffin nails

I hear your sweet voice calling out my name
As I stare from a six foot cell
And from beyond I heard the words
Deceptively yours

All your love

All of your love, baby, can it be mine
All of your love, baby, can it be mine
I'll hate to be the one, the one that you left behind

All of your love, baby, don't you fool around
All of your love, baby, don't fool around
Love is a one thing, baby, that you won't find on the ground

All of your love, I've got to have it one of these days
All of your love, I've got to have it one day
Don't you leave me sweet baby, please come one back this way
Come on back this way

Give me all your love
Give it to me right now
All your love
Don't mess around with my love

Heart of mine

Heart of mine,
Be still
You can play with fire
But you'll get the bill
Don't let him know
Don't let him know that you love him
Oh, don't be a fool, don't be blind
Heart of mine

Heart of mine,
Go back home
You've got no reason to wander
No reason to roam
Don't let him see
Don't let him see that you need him
Oh, don't push yourself over the line
Heart of mine

Heart of mine
Go back where you been
The only trouble with you
Is if you let him in
Don't let him hear
Don't let him hear where you're goin'
Oh, I'm tired of ties that bind
Heart of mine

Heart of mine,
So malicious and so full of guile
I give you an inch
And you take a mile
Don't let yourself fall
Don't let yourself stumble
Oh, do the time, don't do the crime
Heart of mine

Heart of mine
Heart of mine

Things you don't have to do

I walk down the diamond studded concrete canyon
Nobody looked me in the eye
Tried to fly to the moon
Only made it to the sky
I was looking, looking for
I couldn't find a friend
Searching for a clear connection
Without a digital send

Ain't it just a little scary sometimes
To find the lies that you know to be true
I'll find you smiling about
Things you don't have to do

Bill doesn't call me anymore
I hear he's found religion
Big haired blonde apprentice beautician
And all the words and gesticulations that came before
Don't seem to mean a thing
You can feel fine to drop a dime
If you're ever hanging by a string

Ain't it just a little scary sometimes
To find the lies that you know to be true
I'll find you smiling about
Things you don't have to do

I hear voices crying out
Echoes on the boulevard
Contentious rambling incantations
Of some senile bard
There's too much going on around here
To keep my head from spinning
And this constant acceleration
Blurs any ties to the beginning

Ain't it just a little scary sometimes
To find the lies that you know to be true
I'll find you smiling about
Things you don't have to do

Feels like home

*** Thanx a lot to Lukasz for these lyrics ***

Sunrise

Sunrise, sunrise looks like mornin' in your eyes
But the clock's held 9:15 for hours
Sunrise, sunrise couldn't tempt us if it tried
'Cause the afternoon's already come and gone

And I said, "Hoh, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh"
To you

Surprise, surprise, couldn't find it in your eyes
But I'm sure it's written all over my face
Surprise, surprise, never something I could hide
When I see we made it through another day

And I said, "Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh"
To you

Now, the night will throw its cover down
Mm, on me again
Ooh, and if I'm right, it's the only way
To bring me back

"Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh
Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh"
To you

"Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh" (Well, yeah)
"Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh" (Mm-hm, mmm)
"Hoo, ooh, hoo, ooh"
To you

What am I to You

What am I to you
Tell me darling true
To me you are the sea
Fast as you can be
And deep the shade of blue

When you're feeling low
To whom else do you go
See I cry if you hurt
I'd give you my last shirt
Because I love you so

If my sky should fall
Would you even call
Opened up my heart
I never want to part
I'm giving you the ball

When I look in your eyes
I can feel the butterflies
I love you when you're blue
Tell me darlin' true
What am I to you

Yeah well if my sky should fall
Would you even call
Opened up my heart
Never wanna part
I'm giving you the ball

When I look in your eyes
I can feel the butterflies
Could you find a love in me
Could you carve me in a tree
Don't fill my heart with lies

I will you love when you're blue
Tell me darlin' true
What am I to you
What am I to you
What am I to you

What did You say

What did you say
I know I saw you saying it
My ears won't stop ringing
Long enough to hear
Those sweet words
What did you say

And now the day
The hour hand has spun
Before the night is done
I just have to hear
Those sweet words
Spoken like a melody

All your love
Is a lost balloon
Rising up through the afternoon
'Til it could fit on the head of a pin

Come on in
Did you have a hard time sleeping
'Cause a heavy moon was keeping you awake
And all I know is I'm just glad to see you again

See my love
Like a lost balloon
Rising up through the afternoon
And then you appear

What did you say
I know I saw you saying it
My ears won't stop ringing
Long enough to hear
Those sweet words
And your simple melody

I just have to hear
Your sweet words
Spoken like a melody
I just wanna hear
Those sweet words

Carnival Town

Round 'n' round
Carousel
Has got you under it's spell
Moving so fast but
Going nowhere

Up 'n' down
Ferris wheel
Tell me how does it feel
To be so high
Looking down here

Is it lonely
Lonely
Lonely

Did the clown
Make you smile
He was only your fool for a while
Now he's gone back home
And left you wandering there

Is it lonely
Lonely
Lonely

In the morning

I can't stop myself from callin'
Callin' out your name
I can't stop myself from fallin'
Fallin' back again

In the mornin'
Baby in the afternoon

Dark like the shady corners
Inside a violin
Hot like to burn my lips
I know I can't win

In the mornin'
Baby in the afternoon

I tried to quit you but I'm too weak
Wakin' up without you I can hardly speak at all

My girlfriend tried to help me
To get you off my mind
She tried a little tea and sympathy
To get me to unwind

In the mornin'
Baby in the afternoon

Funny how my favorite shirt
Smells more like you than me
Bitter traces left behind
Stains no one can see

In the mornin'
Baby in the afternoon

You're gonna put me in an early grave
I know I'm your slave whenever you call

I can't stop myself from callin'
Callin' out your name
I can't stop myself from fallin'
Fallin' back again

Fallin' back again
Fallin' back again
Fallin' back again
Fallin' back again

Be here to love Me

Your eyes seek conclusion in all this confusion of mine
Though you and I both know it's only the warm glow of wine
That's got you to feeling this way, but I don't care,
I want you to stay
And hold me and tell me you'll be here to love me today

Children are dancin', the gamblers are chancin' their all
The window's accusing the door of abusing the wall
But who cares what the night watchmen say
The stage has been set for the play
Hold me and tell me you'll be here to love me today

The moon's come and gone but a few stars hang on on to the sky
The wind's runnin' free but it ain't up to me ask why
The poets are demanding their pay
They've left me with nothin' to say
'Cept hold me and tell me you'll be here to love me today
Just hold me and tell me that you'll be here to love me today

Creepin' In

There's a big ol' hole
That's gone right through the sole
Of this old shoe
And the water on the ground
Ain't got no place else it found
So it's only got one thing left to do

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

There's a silver moon
That came just a little soon
For me to bare
Shines brightly on my bed
And the shadows overhead
Won't let me sleep as long as they're there

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

There's a big ol' hole
That goes right through my sole
And that ain't nothin' new
So long as you're around
And got no place else you've found
There's only one thing left to do

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in

Toes

The current is strong from what I've heard
It'll wisk you down the stream
But there never seems to be much time

My toes just touched the water
My toes just touched the water

Daydreamed on the bank again
I was swimming with the fish
And I thought this time that it may be true

(But) My toes just touched the water
My toes just touched the water
My toes just touched the water

Walked a mile just to find the edge
Some place low enough to step right in
Now I'm here and I can't begin - to move

Walked a mile just to find the edge
Some place low enough to step right in
Now I'm here and I can't begin - to move

The spoiled sun up over there
It always has to have its way
And I know that the river's there to shelter me

My toes just touched the water
My toes just touched the water

Humble me

Went out on a limb
Gone too far
Broken down at the side of the road
Stranded at the outskirts and sun's creepin' up

Baby's in the backseat
Still fast asleep
Dreamin' of better days
I don't want to call you but you're all I have to turn to

What do you say
When it's all gone away ?
Baby I didn't mean to hurt you
Truth spoke in whispers will tear you apart
No matter how hard you resist it
It never rains when you want it to

You humble me Lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me

Baby Teresa got your eyes
I see you all the time
When she asks about her daddy
I never know what to say

Heard you kicked the bottle
And helped to build the church
You carry an honest wage
Is it true you have somebody keeping you company ?

What do you say
When it's all gone away ?
Baby I didn't mean to hurt you
Truth spoke in whispers will tear you apart
No matter how hard you resist it
It never rains when I want it to

You humble me Lord
Humble me Lord
I'm on my knees empty
You humble me Lord
You humble me Lord
Please, please, please forgive me

Above ground

Underground I'm waiting
Just below the crowded avenue
Watchin' red lights fading out of view

Oh the air feels heavy
Everything just passes by
And I think that I'm a little shy

Meet me outside above ground
I see you on your way
I'll be with you someday, someday

Drawing lines above my head
But the fan keeps spinning over me
Just my thoughts to keep me company

Now I know I'm ready
Pour the night into a glass
Can I sip it slow and make it last?

Meet me outside above ground
I see you on your way
I'll be with you someday, someday

Meet me outside above ground
I see you on your way
I'll be with you someday, someday

The long way home

Well I stumbled in the darkness
I'm lost and alone
Though I said I'd go before us
And show the way back home
There a light up ahead
I can't hold onto her arm
Forgive me pretty baby but I always take the long way home

Money's just something you throw
Off the back of a train
Got a handful of lightening
A hat full of rain
And I know that I said
I'd never do it again
And I love you pretty baby but I always take the long way home

I put food on the table
And roof overhead
But I'd trade it all tomorrow
For The highway instead
Watch your back if I should tell you
Loves the only thing I've ever known
One thing for sure pretty baby I always take the long way home

You know I love you baby
More than the whole wide world
You are my woman
I know you are my pearl
Let's go out past the party lights
We can finally be alone
Come with me and we can take the long way home
Come with me, together we can take the long way home
Come with me, together we can take the long way home

The prettiest thing

The prettiest thing
I ever did see
Was lightning from the top of a cloud
Moving through the dark a million miles an hour
With somewhere to be

So why does it seem
Like a picture
Hanging up on someone else's wall
Lately I just haven't been myself at all
It's heavy on my mind

I'm dreamin' again
Like I've always been
And way down low
I know

The prettiest thing
I ever did see
Was dusty as the handle on the door
Rusty as a nail stuck in the old pine floor
Looks like home to me

I'm dreamin' again
Like I've always been
And way down low
I'm thinkin' of the prettiest thing

Don't miss You at all

As I sit and watch the snow fallin' down
I don't miss you at all
I hear children playin', laughin' so loud
I don't think of your smile
So if you never come to me
You'll stay a distant memory

Out my window, I see lights going dark
Your dark eyes don't haunt me
And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand

And then I wonder who I am
Without the warm touch of your hand

As I sit and watch the snow fallin' down
I don't miss you at all
I don't miss you at all
I don't miss you at all

Sleepless Nights

(Deluxe Edition)

Through the sleepless nights, I cry for you
And wonder who is kissing you
Oh these sleepless nights will break my heart in two

Somehow through the days, I don't give in
I hide the tears that wait within
Oh but then through sleepless nights, I cry again

Why did you go
Why did you go
Don't you know
Don't you know
I need you

I keep hoping you'll come back to me
Oh let it be, please let it be
Oh my love, please end these sleepless nights for me

Why did you go
Why did you go
Don't you know
Don't you know
I need you

I keep hoping you'll come back to me
Oh let it be, please let it be
Oh my love, please end these sleepless nights for me
Oh my love, please end these sleepless nights for me

Moon Song

(Deluxe Edition)

I want to find out where the moon goes
When it leaves the western sky
And night dissolves again 'til morning
Azure turns to gold
Azure turns to gold

I'm gonna sleep with one eye open
I'm gonna keep the shades half-drawn
Nearly silent, dressed in shadows
Lines and colors fall
Lines and colors fall

I'm gonna watch her through my window
Just as I watched you before
A smile knows, but just won't tell me
I just watch her go
I just watch her go

Now I know just where the moon goes
When it leaves the western sky
And night dissolves again 'til morning
The moon is in your eyes
The moon is in your eyes
The moon is in your eyes
The moon is in your eyes

I Turned Your Picture to the Wall

(Deluxe Edition)

I turned your picture to the wall
I don't wanna see you anymore
You once were nice to me
Sugar and spice to me
Now you're as salty as you can be

We had some good times, I recall
We don't ever have them anymore
Now you just lie to me
Then say goodbye to me
I can't believe this is happening to me

When I call you on the phone
You are never there
And I sit home all alone
You don't even care

So I'll just turn your picture to the wall
I ain't gonna see you anymore
It's all a memory
Now it can never be
I'll never see you at all

'Cause I will just turn your picture to the wall

Not too Late

Wish I Could

We met in a place I used to go
Now I just walk by it for show
Can't bear to go in without you know
Wish I could
Wish I could

But Annie is standing in the door
With a look on her face I can't just ignore
She tells me that her heart is sore
And pulls me in
She pulls me in

She says "love in the time of war is not fair"
"He was my man but they didn't care"
"Sent him far away from here"
"No goodbye"
"No goodbye"

I don't tell her that I once loved you too
Or about all the things we used to do
I kiss her hair and think of you
Walking down
The road you found

We met in a place I used to go
Now I only walk by it slow
Can't bear to go in without you know
Wish I could
Wish I could
Wish I could
Wish I could

Sinkin' Soon

We're an oyster cracker on the stew
And the honey in the tea
We're the sugar cubes, one lump or two
In the black coffee
The golden crust on an apple pie
That shines in the sun at noon
We're a wheel of cheese high in the sky
But we're gonna be sinkin' soon

In a boat that's built of sticks and hay
We drifted from the shore
With a captain who's too proud to say
That he dropped the oar
Now a tiny hole has sprung a leak
In this cheap pontoon
Now the hull has started growing weak
And we're gonna be sinkin' soon

We're gonna be
Sinkin' soon
We're gonna be
Sinkin' soon
Everybody hold your breath 'cause
We're gonna be sinkin' soon

We're gonna be
Sinkin' soon
We're gonna be
Sinkin' soon
Everybody hold your breath 'cause
Down and down we go

Like the oyster cracker on the stew
The honey in the tea
The sugar cubes, one lump or two
No thank you none for me
We're the golden crust on an apple pie
That shines in the sun at noon
Like the wheel of cheese high in the sky
Well... we're gonna be sinkin' soon

The Sun Doesn't Like You

The sun doesn't like you, you always get burned
Stay in the shade and watch the world turn
Better find a new place to lay on the ground
Can't stay where you are or you're gonna be found

And time won't pass you by
And I won't tell you lies

So tonight... we can build a fire
In the open field past the razor wire
Sneak by the dogs when they go to sleep
Bring part of yourself that you'll let me keep

'cause time won't pass us by
And I won't tell you lies
Someday I will ask you why... but not now

And time won't pass us by
And you won't tell me lies
Someday we all have to die... but not now

Until The End

You've got a famous last name
But you're not to blame
Baby I see you for who you are

A one time apple queen
And a one time tramp
And an old time movie star

You're a shell picker
Of the pickiest kind
But you always find the ones to keep

And in or out of bed
You keep you're head wide open
'cause ya don't only dream when you're asleep

Like a child
You remember
But I forget
All my dreams

I used to think
That someday I'd relax a little
And be more like you

Then I realized
How silly that thought was
Needed to stand in my own shoes

And from over here
I can see you cry
Don't even try
To pretend

'Cause he's hurt you
So many times
Baby don't go back again

Like a child, you forget
But I remember everything
And every sting

And through all the games
We'll both stay the same
As we've always been
Through the fat and thin
Until the end
Until the end

Not My Friend

Help me breathe
Help me believe
You seem really glad that I am sad

You are not my friend
I cannot pretend that you are

You made it sting
Your voice is ringing
Just like the boys who laughed at me in school

You are not my friend
I cannot pretend anymore

You found a place
No one should ever go

I'll be ok
'Cause when I back away
I'm gonna keep the handle of your gun in sight

Thinking About You

Yesterday I saw the sun shinin'
And the leaves were fallin' down softly
My cold hands needed a warm, warm touch
And I was thinkin' about you

Here I am lookin' for signs of leaving
You hold my hand, but do you really need me
I guess it's time for me to let you go
And I've been thinkin' about you
I've been thinkin' about you

When you sail across the ocean waters
And you reach the other side safely
Could you smile a little smile for me
'cause I'll be thinkin' about you
I'll be thinkin' about you
I'll be thinkin' about you
I'll be thinkin' about you

Broken

He's got a broken voice and a twisted smile
Guess he's been that way for quite awhile
Got blood on his shoes and mud on his brim
Did he do it to himself or was it done to him

People think he don't look well
But all he needs from what I can tell
Is someone to help wash away all the paint
From his purple hands before it gets too late

I saw him stand alone
Under a broke street light
So sincere
Singing silent night
But the trees were full
And the grass was green
It was the sweetest thing I had ever seen

He may move slow
But that don't mean he's going nowhere
He may be moving slow
But that don't mean he's going nowhere

My Dear Country

'Twas Halloween and the ghosts were out
And everywhere they'd go, they shout
And though I covered my eyes I knew
They'd go away

But fear's the only thing I saw
And three days later 'twas clear to all
That nothing is as scary as election day

But the day after is darker
And darker and darker it goes
Who knows, maybe the plans will change
Who knows, maybe he's not deranged

The news men know what they know, but they
Know even less than what they say
And I don't know who I can trust
For they come what may

'Cause we believed in our candidate
But even more it's the one we hate
I needed someone I could shake
On election day

But the day after is darker
And deeper and deeper we go
Who knows, maybe it's all a dream
Who knows if I'll wake up and scream

I love the things that you've given me
I cherish you my dear country
But sometimes I don't understand
The way we play

I love the things that you've given me
And most of all that I am free
To have a song that I can sing
On election day

Wake Me Up

Wake me up when it's over
Wake me up when it's done
When he's gone away and taken everything
Wake me up

Wake me up when the skies are clearing
When the water is still
'Cause I will not watch the ships sail away so
Please say you will

If it were any other day
This wouldn't get the best of me

But today I'm not so strong
So lay me down with a sad song
And when it stops then you know I've been
Gone too long

But don't shake me awake
Don't bend me or I will break
Come find me somewhere between my dreams
With the sun on my face

I will still feel it later on
But for now I'd rather be asleep

Be My Somebody

I'm too foggy today
To know what you're sayin'
Your lips are moving so fast
And I just keep praying
For them to slow down
So I can make some sense
Of the words that are pouring out
Of your crooked spout

Last night was a record to be broken
It broke all over the kitchen floor
Oh no don't you go
I'm coming back with a rag
To wipe away the haze from the days
We've forgotten all about

So be my somebody tonight
Be the one who'll hold me tight
Honey, please, please
Cuz I've been so all alone
And no one will pick up the phone
So honey, please stay

I held your head up, do you remember
When you wanted to make a blanket outta me
Oh I can't lie … I been keeping score
And it's your turn to wring me out
And lay me down to dry

So be my somebody tonight
Be the one who'll hold me tight
Honey, please, please
Cuz I've been so all alone
And no one will pick up the phone
So honey, please stay
Honey, please stay
Honey, please stay

Little Room

You and me and
Me and you
In my little room
There's room enough for us to do
The things we like to do

Oops, I hit my elbow on the doorknob
Its right there
It's by the bed next to my head
But I don't even care

There's stars up on the wall
And they all glow in the dark
And we can hear the children playing
Outside in the park

There's bars on the window
And if there were a fire
We'd burn up for sure
But that's just fine by me 'cause
We would be together ever more

In this little room
In the big city we're so far
From the people that we knew in
My big ol' blue car

But if we stick together
Then I know we'll be ok
'cause when it gets too cold outside
This room is where we'll stay

Rosie's Lullaby

She walked by the ocean
And waited for a star
To carry her away

Feelin' so small
At the bottom of the world
Lookin' up to God

She tries to take deep breaths
To smell the salty sea
As it moves over her feet

The water pulls so strong
And no-one is around
And the moon is looking down

Sayin'
Rosie - come with me
Close your eyes and dream

The big ships are rollin'
And lightin' up the night
And she calls out
But they just her pass by

The waves are crashin'
But not making a sound
Just mouthing along

Sayin'
Rosie - come with me
Close your eyes and dream
Close your eyes and dream
Close your eyes and dream

Not Too Late

Tell me how you've been
Tell what you've seen
Tell me that you'd like to see me too

'Cause my heart is full of no blood
My cup is full of no love
Couldn't take another sip even if I wanted

But it's not too late
Not too late for love

My lungs are out of air
Yours are holding smoke
And it's been like that for so long

I've seen people try to change
And I know it isn't easy
But nothin' worth the time ever is

And it's not too late
It's not too late for love
For love
For love
For love

The Fall

Chasing Pirates

In your message you said
You were going to bed
But I'm not done with the night
So I stayed up and read
But your words in my head
Got me mixed up so I turned out the light

And I don't know how to slow it down
My mind's racing from chasing pirates

Now an ambulance screams
While the silliest things
Are flopping around in my brain
And I try to not dream
Up impossible schemes
That swim around, wanna drown me insane

And I don't know how to slow it down
Oh my mind's racing from chasing pirates

And I don't know how to slow it down
Oh my mind's racing from chasing pirates
My mind's racing from chasing pirates
My mind's racing from chasing pirates

Even Though

Something about the way he touched me
Was so slow
The way he put his arms around me
Even though
I'm feeling lonely
I'm feeling lonely

Don't understand the words he said
Made me do wrong
But now there's nothing else in my head
And though it's strong
I wish he'd leave me alone
I wish he'd leave me

'Cause I know
Trouble will follow
But I have to go
I have to go
'Cause I know
Trouble will follow
But I have to go
But I have to go

It makes me think that I don't know me
So unsure
When I remember all the things he showed me
And I want more
I'm feeling lonely
Oh I'm feeling lonely

Light as a feather

While the seasons will undo your soul
Time forgives us and it takes control
We separate our things to put us back together

We're light as a feather
Heavy as the weather
If it was raining stones

Put our hands together to applaud or pray
It's like the show was over
But we're too scared to walk away
All for the better, worse for the wear

We're light as a feather
God, you, and I together
Meanwhile inside me
It was raining stones

And you didn't know
God bless your soul

We're light as a feather
Heavy as the weather
We're light as feather
God, you, and I together

Young blood

I'll pretend my heart's not on fire
If you steal my true love's name
Broke down subway in this city of spires
Tape your picture over his in the frame

We'll imagine we're sleeping revolvers
Shotgun wedding in a strange SoHo
Our chambers hold silvery collars
Gun down werewolves wherever we go
We gun down werewolves wherever we go

Midnight phone calls in the back of a Mustang
Creased white pages torn right from the spine
Kissed my neck with a crooked, cracked fang
You always hoped one day you'd be mine

Threw our fathers on funeral pyres
I'm not sure that we were playing a game
Busted gasket in a field full of liars
No one noticed we set five boroughs aflame
No one noticed we set five boroughs aflame

Young blood
Young bone
Old ghosts
Go home

Band of gold with a diamond implied
You wrote letters that you never sent
I made promises I'll always deny
Now we'll never know what the other meant

Watch is ticking like a heartbeat gone berserk
Lost the chance to wind the key
Roosters are nothing but clucking clockwork
Our fears are only what we tell them to be
Our fears are only what we tell them to be

Drown the last of our matches
Burn the rest of each other
You were strongest when I ached for breath
Through the thick of smoke we'll finally smother

Young blood
Young bone
Old ghosts
Go home

I Wouldn't Need You

If I touched myself
The way you touched me
If I could hold myself
The way you held me
Then I wouldn't need you
No, I wouldn't need you
No, I wouldn't need you
To love me

If I could replace
The things you gave me
If I could see my face
Without the tragedy
Then I wouldn't need you
No, I wouldn't need you
No, I wouldn't need you
To love me

But I do
Some, come back
Come back
If you could see the way I act
When I'm alone
If you could hear my voice crack
Over the phone
Then you'd know I need you
Oh you'd know I need you
Oh you'd know I need you
To love me

Waiting

Hush now, watch the stars fall
Into a fire wall
I am waiting here
Waiting for you to come home

Sinking embers glow
Melting icy snow
And I am waiting here
Waiting for you to come home

And I watch them burn
When will I ever learn
If I wait it doesn't mean you will return
And I watch them burn

When will I ever learn
If I wait it doesn't mean you will return
Now all the stars have gone
Faded into cracks of dawn

And I'm still here waiting
Waiting for you to come home
I am still here waiting
Waiting for you to come home

It's gonna be

If all we talk about is money
Nothing will be funny, honey
And now that everyone's a critic
It's makin' my mascara runny
If we only talk about the "Heathers"
Making it together is crazy
If we don't get a new situation
For our busted nation, we're lazy

But it's gonna be
It's gonna be
Please make it be
It's gonna be

Now if a princess becomes human
Don't stone her on a talk show, you'll ruin
'Cause there's a fine line between a skewer
And a decent sense of humor
Aim at the ones who've really hurt us
They should be arrested for murders
But then all the cameras were turned on
Some skinny naked blonde eating burgers

But it's gonna be
It's gonna be
It's gonna be
It's gonna be

It's gonna be
It's gonna be
Please make it be
Let's make it be

It's gonna be
It's gonna be
It's gonna be...

You've ruined me

You've ruined me now
But I liked it
But I'm ruined
Do you have a plan
'Cause I'm in your hands

You've ruined me now
Though I liked it
Now, I'm ruined
I had no choice
When I heard your voice

I know you said
"Can't be misled"
Now I'm the one
Whose face is red

You've ruined me now
Though I liked it
Now, I'm ruined your chocolate eyes
Like buttons of lies

You've ruined me now
Though I liked it
Now, I'm ruined
I'm trying to part
With what's in my heart

You've ruined me and how
I thought I liked it
But I'm ruined
My whole world's now
Turned upside down

I heard me say,
"I'm going away"
But now I write
You everyday

You heard me say
"I'm going away"
But I'm on the floor
Outside your door

You've ruined me now
You've ruined me now

You've ruined me now
But I liked it
But I'm ruined
Do you have a plan
'Cause I'm in your hands

Back to Manhattan

I'll go back to Manhattan
As if nothing ever happened
When I cross that bridge
It'll be as if this don't exist

I've a prince who is waiting
And a kingdom downtown
I'll go back to Manhattan
As if nothing ever happened

We don't have to speak at all
I won't look in your eyes
And I won't have to fall
We don't have to speak at all

But Brooklyn holds you
And it holds my heart too
What a fool I was to think
I could live in both worlds

We don't have to speak at all
I won't look in your eyes
And I won't have to fall
We don't have to speak at all

I should go back to Manhattan
It's just a train ride away
I know nothing about leaving
But I know I should do it today

Stuck

You shove your way
Through the room from the street
And finally to me
You ask me what I'm drinking

My friend Johnny
Tugging on my sleeve
Asks if I wanna leave
But what I'm really thinking is

Why can't it be easy
Easy
Why don't you leave
Leave me
Leave me be
I can see you swaying
I can't hear what you're saying

I'm sitting here stuck
And plastered to my seat
I think up a reason to leave
When you finally stop speaking
I'll take a long slow
Walk down Washington Street
Half asleep on my feet
Half aware if I'm dreaming

I'll go home alone
A sinking stone
A swithed off telephone
I'll go on and be free
A frozen breeze
A fallen down factory
But I still see you swaying
And I can't hear what you're saying

I just lost the plot
Got a little caught
In a little knot
I just hit a wall
Had a little fall
Felt the swinging wrecking ball
And why should that be
Why don't you tell me
Why don't you tell me
I'm sure you'll tell me
Why don't you tell me
I guess you'll tell me
Tell me

December

December come to me
I hope I can see
You not just in dreams
I will let you be
Why can't you believe
How much you really mean

December won't you come
Back with snow, even some
Don't say that it's done
I will carry you home
Take you from the loneliest place
You have known
I will carry you home
Take me from the loneliest place
I have known

Tell Yer Mama

I won't cry for you
When the night grows long
And I won't lie for you
Because you done me wrong

So tell your mama
I said "Hello"
And that she raised you
Too damn slow
You're too damn slow
Too damn slow

'Cause I've been waiting
For your time
And I've been missing
Out on mine

So tell your father
That I said "So long"
And thanks for raising you
So damn wrong
You're so damn wrong
You're so damn wrong
So damn wrong

Man Of The Hour

"It's him or me"
That's what he said
But I can't choose between a vegan
And a pot head
So I chose you
Because you're sweet
And you give me lots of lovin'
And you eat meat
And that's how you became
My only man of the hour

You never lie
And you don't cheat
And you don't have any baggage tied
To your four feet
Do I deserve
To be the one
Who will feed you breakfast, lunch, and dinner
And take you to the park at dawn
Will you really be
My only man of the hour

I know you'll never bring me flowers
But flowers, they will only die
And though we'll never take a shower together
I know you'll never make me cry

You never argue
You don't even talk
And I like the way you let me lead you
When we go outside and walk
Will you really be
My only man of the hour
My only man of the hour
My only man of the hour

...Featuring Norah Jones

Love me

( The Little Willies Feat. Norah Jones )

Treat me like a fool
Treat me mean and cruel
But love me
Break my faithful heart
Tear it all apart
Oh, but love me

If you ever go
Darling, I'll be, oh
Oh, so lonely
I'll be sad and blue
Crying over you
Dear, only

I would beg and steal
(She would beg and steal)
Oh, just to feel
(Yes, just to feel)
Your heart
(I want your heart)
Beatin' so close to mine

Oh, if you ever go
Darling, I'll be, oh
Oh, so lonely
I'll be sad and blue
Crying over you
Dear, only

I would beg and steal
(She would beg and steal)
Oh, just to feel
(Yes, just to feel)
Your heart
(I want your heart)
Beatin' so close to mine

If you ever go
Darling, I'll be, oh
Oh, so lonely
Beggin' on my knees
All I ask is please
Please love me
Oh, yeah

Virginia moon

( Duet with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters )

Dearest constellation
Heaven surroundin' you
Stay there, soft and blue
Virginia moon
I'll wait for you tonight

Sweetest invitation
Breaking the day in two
Feelin' like I do
Virginia moon
I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become
Shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through
And tomorrow rescues you
I will say goodnight

Secret fascination
Whisper a quiet tune
Hear me callin' you
Virginia moon
I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become
Shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through
And tomorrow rescues you
I will say goodnight
Virginia moon
I'll wait for you tonight

And now our shades become
Shadows in your light
In the morning wind we're through
And tomorrow rescues you
I will say goodnight

I will say goodnight
I will say goodnight

Turn Them

( Sean Bones featuring Norah Jones )

If your ship's coming my way
I'll turn around
If he's back, you tank your seaway
Put your anchor down
And if anyone's been asking
I'm looking, I'm looking for traction on my own

I'll take all your belongings
I'll put it in the yard
Bury all your letters, rip up the postcards
I won't need them where I'm going
The distance keeps growing
Till I'm gone

You should be safe
It could be good for you
You better be careful now
Now that I'm gone

You should be safe
Just let it be good for you
You better be careful now
Now that I'm gone

I'm going home on the phone now
Oh it's been awhile
Well you got me up at night
With my hopes so high
I don't know what I'm after
It feels like such a disaster
I'm okay you know

You should be safe
Just let it be good for you
You better be careful now
Now that I'm gone

You should be safe
Just let it be good for you
You better be careful now
Now that I'm gone
Now that I'm gone

Baby It's Cold Outside

( Willie Nelson featuring Norah Jones )

I really can't stay
Baby it's cold outside
I've got to go away
Baby it's cold outside
This evening has been
Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice
I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice

My mother will start to worry
Beautiful, what's your hurry
And my father will be pacing the floor
Just listen to that fireplace roar
Now really I'd better scurry
Sweetheart, what's your hurry
Well maybe just a half a drink more
Why don't you put some records on while I pour

All the neighbors might think
But baby, it's bad out there
Say, what's in this drink
No cabs to be had out there
Oh, I wish I knew how
Your eyes are like starlight now
To break this spell
I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell

I ought to say no, no, no, sir
Mind if I move in closer
At least I'm gonna say that I tried
What's the sense in hurting my pride
I really can't stay
Baby don't hold out
Oh, but it's cold outside

I simply must go
Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is no
But baby, it's cold out there
Oh, this welcome has been
So lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm
Look out that window at that storm

My sister will be suspicious
Gosh, your lips look delicious
And my brother will be there at the door
Waves upon a tropical shore
Oh, my maiden aunt's mind is vicious
Oh, baby you're so delicious
Well maybe just one cigarette more
Never such a blizzard before

Oh, I've got to go home
You'll freeze to the bone out there
Say, lend me a comb
It's up to your knees out there
You've really been grand
I thrill when you touch my hand
But don't you see
How can you do this thing to me

Oh, there's bound to be talk tomorrow
Making my lifelong sorrow
Well at least there will be plenty implied
If you caught pneumonia and died
But I really can't stay
Get over that old out
Baby it's cold outside

Bull Rider

( Norah Jones and Sasha Dobson / Johnny Cash Cover )

Well first you gotta want to get off,
Bad enough to want to get on in the first place
And you better trust in your lady luck
Pray to God that she don't give up on you right now

Live fast
Die young
Bull rider, hey, hey

Well the one hand hold is all you've got
To pit you and the bull against the clock and a course crowd
And just upon a spinning ton
Nothing else you've ever done can pull this way

You're just outside the bucking chute
You lose a spur and you lose your seat and you lose yourself
By now he's bucking mean and dirty
Slinging mud and cowboy boots and kicking clowns

No fools
No fun
Bull rider, hey, hey

You gotta feel the way he's moving
You gotta watch his head
And brace yourself for anything
That render you might dead

You know the art of hanging loose
Is hanging just as tight
Well there's something like a hurricane
Who's dancing with a kite

Live fast
Die young
Bull rider, hey, hey

Well the rodeo is more than rough
It's a fact of life and it's tough to cut and it's beaver hats
It's drinking beer and pulling trailers
Tight lemae on barrel racers and a horse bucking

No fools
No fun
Bull rider, hey, hey

Live fast
Die young
Bull rider, hey, hey

Ruler of My Heart

( Cover of Naomi Neville / Appears on Dirty dozen brass band - Medicated Magic LP )

Ruler of my heart
Driver of my soul
Where can you be
I wait patiently

My heart cries out
Pain inside
Where can you be
I wait patiently

When you're alone
The going gets rough
Come back, come back, come back baby
I've had enough

Make me a queen
Happy again
Hear my plea
I wait patiently

Ruler of my heart
Driver of my soul

When you're alone
The going gets rough
Come back, come back, come back
I've had enough

*** Thanx a lot to Céline for this one ***

The Best Part

( El Madmo Featuring Norah Jones )

I see the moon in the sky
I taste the soft in your eyes
I'll ignore all your lies
I'll chain as I go swing
Breaking off and away
In the scold of the cave
Don't forget me

I'll lay precious and mine
Love is reality line
Time always puts up a fight
Don't forget me

Lay your hand on my heart
Like it was at the start
That always was the best part
That was the best part

(Q-Tip feat. Norah Jones)

Soon The New Day

( Talib Kweli featuring Norah Jones )

Here we go like
Yes yes yawl
To the beat yawl
Ain't no sleep yawl
To the break of dawn
Five o'clock in the morning
We keep rocking on
The working people running like the stop clock is on
We got it popping in the meat market
Chicks take a seat, park it
By the bar so they can meet the Vick with deep pockets
And them dudes
Buy them cars that turn 'em in to sweet objects of desire
Big rims and them tires
We finna drop it like it's heavy as hell
The clan of the cavebear
Used to use the club to hit and drag her by the hair
Still use the club to get her a martini or a beer
Try to get her home and put the smell of sex in the air
Come through like the cable guy
Get 'er done
That 'ole hit 'n run
Turn into bitter ones
Tonight is catch me if you can
You can taste the ginger bread
Ain't nothing like wakin' up with a stranger in your bed
Nope

Soon the new day
Breaks the dawn
Tomorrow I'll be like
Where am I
What's your name
Gotta go, I'm glad you came
But tonight you
Will be so fun
Maybe you're the one
Soon the new day
Breaks the dawn

Putting on some airs
King for a day
Hard to face your fears we wear the mask like Cory McKay
You have a ball today
It's all a masquerade
Shortly paint her face like a clown but can't take away the frown
Found under the make up
I asked her "What's your passion?" answered "What's the paper"
She sleep and they don't want her to wake up
Maybe they should realize their own beauty
Baby you a star and not just a star on some dude's home movies

Soon the new day
Breaks the dawn
Tomorrow I'll be like
Where am I
What's your name
Gotta go, I'm glad you came
But tonight you
Will be so fun
Maybe you're the one
Soon the new day
Breaks the dawn

Stepping out, I got my best outfit on
Gotta get it in. I'm slipping in the darkness like most of the day is gone
We up all night I wonder if can hang
We used to hang from a tree
Now we hanging behind the rope we V.I.P.
We do it
B.I.G.
Ain't no need to See I.D.
Thee entire scenery
Shrouded in mystery
Clouded with greenery
Six girls to every three dudes
So you have half a chance
If you ask to have a dance

The ones ready to freak off don't need no romance
They belong to the sisterhood of the travelling pants
They got them
Hungry eyes you know sensual trance
At a glance
The alcohol got you sexually advanced
The truth is so boring you gotta pretend a little
The antidote is more colourful the rainbow and the Skittles
And the quest to trap the cat
The game is the Tinder Fiddles to get the Bruce
To say the sky's falling like your Chicken Little
Come on

Breaks the dawn
Tomorrow I'll be like
Where am I
What's your name
Gotta go, I'm glad you came
But tonight you
Will be so fun
Maybe you're the one
Soon the new day
Breaks the dawn

But tonight you will be so fun
Soon the new day, breaks the dawn
But tonight you will be so fun
Soon the new day, breaks the dawn
Soon the new day, breaks the dawn
Soon the new day, breaks the dawn
Soon the new day, breaks the dawn

Little Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John

( Belle & Sebastian featuring Norah Jones )

What a waste, I could've been your lover
What a waste, I could've been your friend
Perfect love is like a blossom that fades so quick
When it's blowing up a storm in May

Travel south until your skin turns, woman
Travel south until your skin turns brown
Put a language in your head and get on a train
And then come back to the one you love

Yeah you're great
You're just part
Of this lifetime of dreaming
That extends to the heart
Of this long summer feeling
Cry at night, you see the TV's glowing
Cry at night, you hear the walls are awake

Being you, I'm getting out of a party crowd
Can I see what's underneath your bed?
Can I stay until the milkman's working?
Can I stay until the café's awake?

Do you hate me in the light?
Did you get a fright?
When you looked across from where you lay

Yeah you're great, you're just part, of this lifetime of dreaming
That extends to the heart of this long summer feeling
All the history of wars I invent in my head
Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John

All the history of wars I invent in my head
Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John

What a waste, I could've been your lover
What a waste, I could've been your friend

Here we go again

( Duet with Ray Charles )

Norah Jones :
Here we go again
He's back in town again
I'll take him back again
One more time

Ray Charles :
Here we go again
The phone will ring again
I'll be her fool again, I will
One more time

Norah Jones :
I've been there before
And I will try it again
Any fool, any fool knows
That there's no, no way to win

Ray Charles :
Here we go again
She'll break my heart again, yeah
I'll play the part again
One more time
(Alright, Mr. Preston)
I've been there before, you know what?
I'll try it again

Norah Jones :
But any fool, any fool knows
That there's no, no way to win

Norah Jones & Ray Charles
Here we go again
She'll break my heart again
I'll play the part again
One more time
I'll take her back again
One more time

Ray Charles :
I will

Loretta

( Norah Jones featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings / Townes Van Zandt Cover )

Well Loretta she's my barroom girl
Wears them sevens on her sleeve
Dances like a diamond shines
Tell me lies I love to believe

Her age is always twenty-two
Her sparkling eyes a hazel hue
Spends my money like water falls
Loves me like I want her to
Loves me like I want her to

Oh Loretta won't you say to me
Darling strap your guitar on
Have a little shot of booze
Sing a blue and wailing song

My guitar rings a melody
My guitar sings, Loretta's fine
Long and lazy, young and free
I can have her any time
I can have her any time

Sweetest at the break of day
Prettiest in the setting sun
She don't cry when I can't stay
At least not till she's all alone

Loretta, I won't be gone long
Keep your dancing slippers on
Keep me on your mind a while
I'm coming home, I'm coming home

Well Loretta she's my barroom girl
Wears them sevens on her sleeve
Dances like a diamond shines
Tell me lies I love to believe

Her age is always twenty-two
Her sparkling eyes a hazel hue
Spends my money like water falls
Loves me like I want her to
Loves me like I want her to
Loves me like I want her to

Dear john

( Ryan Adams Feat. Norah Jones / Jacksonville city nights LP 2005)

I got a house full of walls
And utility bills
And every monday the company calls
I got a nice bed to sleep on
And a chest of drawers where i keep those
Jewels of yours
'Cause you are always mine to keep
When you're gone
Two silvers rings
One's on my finger, and the other one's gone
It went underground with you
Oh, John
Ten years passed
And i ended up with a house full of cats
Most of them went missing
From the window you never
Fixed and the door you never latched
When you were on your way out like last time
'Cause you are always mine to keep
When you're gone
Two silvers rings
One's on my finger, but the other one's gone
It went underground with you
Oh, John
I knew what you were doing that summer
When candy came around
But i had too much hurt to bother you
When we lost our first child
And a little payment was overdue
And i want you so bad
'Cause you are always mine to keep
When you're gone
Two silvers rings
One's on my finger, and the other one's gone
It went underground with you
Oh John
I miss you
I miss you
Oh John

Creepin' In

( Norah Jones featuring Dolly Parton )

There's a big ol' hole
That's gone right through the sole
Of this old shoe
And the water on the ground
Ain't got no place else it found
So it's only got one thing left to do

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

There's a silver moon
That came just a little too soon

For me to bare
Shines brightly on my bed
And the shadows overhead
Won't let me sleep as long as it's there

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

There's a big ol' hole
That goes right through my sole
And that ain't nothing new
So long as you're around
And got no place else you've found
There's only one thing left for you to do

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in

And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in

And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in

Court And Spark

( Joni Mitchell Cover / Herbie Hancock Featuring Norah Jones )

Love came to my door
With a sleeping roll
And a madman's soul
He thought for sure I'd seen him
Dancing up a river in the dark
Looking for a woman
To court and spark

He was playing on the sidewalk
For passing change
When something strange happened
Glory train passed through him
So he buried the coins he made
In people's park
And went looking for a woman
To court and spark

It seemed like he read my mind
He saw me mistrusting him
And still acting kind
He saw how i worried sometimes
I worry sometimes

"All the guilty people," he said
They've all seen the stain
On their daily bread
On their christian names
I cleared myself
I sacrificed my blues
And you could complete me
I'd complete you

His eyes were the color of the sand
And the sea
And the more he talked to me
The more he reached me
But I couldn't let go of L.A
City of the fallen angels

More than this

( Charlie Hunter Featuring Norah Jones / Roxy Music Cover )

I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they're blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning

More than this
There is nothing
Oh more than this
You tell me one thing
More than this
You know there's nothing

It was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like a dream in the night
Who can say where we're going
No care in the world
And maybe I'm learning
Why the sea on the tide
It has no way of turning

More than this
You know there is nothing
Oh more than this
You tell me one thing
More than this
There is nothing
Nothing

More than this
You know there is nothing
Much more than this
You tell me one thing
More than this
There is nothing
More than

Blue Bayou

( Norah Jones featuring M. Ward )

I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou

Saving nickels saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou

I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where you sleep all day
And the catfish play
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be

Maybe I'll go back there again
Maybe I'll see some of my friends
Maybe I'll be happy again
On Blue Bayou

Saving nickels saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou

I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou

Oh that boy of mine
By my side
The silver moon
And the evening tide
Oh some sweet day
Gonna take away
This hurting inside
Oh I'll never be blue
My dreams come true
On Blue Bayou

Little Broken Hearts

Good Morning

Good morning
My thoughts on leaving
Are back on the table
I thought you should know

And maybe powerful actions
Or powerful feelings
Will keep me from going
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
I'm folding my hand, hand
I'm folding my hand, hand

Good morning
Why did you do it
I couldn't sleep
I knew you were gone

More loving is all I was after
But you couldn't give it
So I'm moving on

I'm folding my hand, hand
I'm folding my hand, hand

Say Goodbye

Bring me back the good old days
When you let me misbehave
Always knew it wouldn't last
But if you asked, I'd go again
Yeah, I'd go again

It's alright, it's okay
I don't need you anyway
You don't have to tell the truth
'Cause if you do, I'll tell it too
Oh I'll tell it too

Well, it ain't easy to stay in love
If you can't tell lies
So I'll just have to take a bow
And say goodbye

I'm loosened up, but it's too late to turn it around
I'm dropping bolts on the ground and I'm coming unwound
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Don't you miss the good ole days
When I let you misbehave
While you're looking down like that
I know that you're dying to come back
Please, come on back

Well, it ain't easy to stay in love
When you're telling lies
So I'll just have to take a bow
And say goodbye

Little Broken Hearts

Little broken hearts of the nights
Slowly picking up their knives
On their way to the fight
Tonight they want revenge

Beautiful soldiers in their beds
Making love inside their heads
With no chance to defend
Tonight could be their end

With the weapons in their hands
And their eyes closed as they stand
Can they end it all tonight
So easily

Did the darkness of their days
Make them let go of their light
Will they wanna find a way
To make it alright

When the beautiful awake
And see the sadness in their eyes
Will they want to find a way
To make it alright
To make it alright
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Only the fallen need to rise
But what if lightning strikes them twice
Will they give up on their lives
And finally divide

Did the darkness of their days
Make them let go of their light
Can they ever find a way
To sleep side by side

When the beautiful awake
And see the sadness in their eyes
Will they ever find a way
To sleep side by side
To sleep side by side
To sleep side by side

She's 22

She's 22
And she's loving you
And you'll never know
How it makes me blue
Does it make you happy

I'm holding on
To a thing that's wrong
'Cause we don't belong
But you like my songs
And you make me happy
Does she make you happy

You can throw away
Every word I say

I'm standing still
On this hidden hill
And I'm looking around
For the right way down
To your distant valley
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Your flowers grow
In the frozen snow
And I'd like to know
If it's all a show
'Cause you sure look happy
Are you really happy

You'll just throw away
Every word I say
You can throw away

Does she make you happy
Does she make you happy
Does she make you happy
I'd like to see you happy

Take It Back

Won't you take me away from here
So I'll never find my way home
Well, there's one missing part of me
And I'm afraid it's fine on its own
And this time it's finally grown
For me to see
Now I see
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Words spoken silently
I could never understand
How breath delivers such poison
To someone too weak to stand
And dust can turn into mud
Out on the sea
In the sea

Take it back
Take it back
Take it back

Take it back
Take it back
Take it back

Take it back
Take it back
Take it back

Take it back
Take it back
Take it back

After The Fall

I never told you
About the summer
Every day was changing
Only photographs
But life goes on
In your mind, so warm
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Out on my own now
And I like the way it feels
You couldn't come through
And I'm too far gone

After the fall
Do you still want it all

You never told me
About the winter
Everyday was changing
But I remember
That life went on
In my mind, so cold

Out on your own now
Do you like the way it feels
Didn't I come through
You were too far gone

After the fall
I still want it all

4 Broken Hearts

People can't be hand-made
But he keeps slaving away
At a stone that's too hard to break
A girl who's too lost to save

So you tried to replace me
But you didn't get far
And I tried to repay you
But I only got scarred
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
She'll be breaking your fall
And I'll be building new walls
But this time I'll have to make sure
To add a window for you to come back

And we tried to be faithful
But didn't get far
Now all we'll be left with
Is four broken hearts

I tried to erase you
But didn't get far enough
Enough away from you because
You still can break my heart

Travelin' On

You could never be a face in the crowd
So you're traveling on, traveling on out
Well, you know I'll never say it out loud
But I'll be traveling on, traveling with you

Hey, I'm too weak
It's too much to fight off
A past so strong, but now
I don't think too much all the time
I'll just try to keep up

I can't believe what's happening now
I can't believe what's happening now

If you notice that I'm falling behind
I'm taking my time, taking it all in
So call me when you get where you're going
I'll keep traveling on, traveling to you
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Hey, don't be too hard on yourself
I'll be okay 'cause we
Won't leave this place any worse
Than when we came

I can't believe what's happening now
I can't believe what's happening now
I love the way it's happening now

Out On The Road

I never wanted to be taken
But now I'm feeling so left out
So I don't care where I go
I'm leaving
Yeah, I'm leaving

Got about a half a tank left
That could do, but only if I'm lucky
But either way
I'm leaving
Oh I'm leaving

On my way to paradise
A little voice says
"Don't think twice
And don't look back
If you want things to change"

Ah I guess I'll have to love you from afar
Ah it's okay 'cause all I need's my car

Out on the road, out on the road
(but with nowhere to go)
Out on the road, out on the road I go
Out on the road, out on the road
(but with nowhere to go)
Out on the road, out on the road
Out on the road, out on the road
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Takes about a week to get there
Maybe two if I stop to sleep it off here
But I can't sleep
So I'm leaving
Yeah, I'm leaving

Keep on driving through the night
To find a sign or slice of light
To show me that I'm heading the right way

And ah I guess you'll have to love me from afar
Ah it's okay 'cause all I need's this car

Out on the road, out on the road
Out on the road, out on the road I go
Out on the road, out on the road
Out on the road, out on the road I go
Out on the road, out on the road
Out on the road, out on the road

Happy Pills

Trying to pick up the pace
Trying to make it so I never see your face again
Time to throw this away
Wanna make sure that you never waste my time again

How does it feel
Oh how does it feel to be you right now, dear
You broke this apart
So pick up your piece and go away from here

Please, just let me go now
Please, just let me go
Would you, please, just let me go now
Please, just let me go

I'm gonna get ya out
I gotta get ya out
I gotta get ya
Out of my head
Get out

Gonna get ya out
I gotta get ya out
I gotta get ya
Out of my head
Get out

Never said we'd be friends
Trying to keep myself away from you
'Cause you're bad, bad news
With you gone, I'm alive, makes me feel like
I took happy pills and time stands still

How does it feel
Oh how does it feel to be the one shut out
You broke all the rules
I won't be a fool for you no more, my dear
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Please, just let me go now
Please, just let me go
Would you, please, just let me go now
Please, just let me go

I'm gonna get ya out
I gotta get ya out
I gotta get ya
Out of my head
Get out

Gonna get ya out
I gotta get ya out
I gotta get ya
Out of my head
Get out

Miriam

Miriam
That's such a pretty name
I'm gonna say it when
I make you cry

Miriam
You know you done me wrong
I'm gonna smile when
You say goodbye

Now I'm not the jealous type
Never been the killing kind
But you know I know what you did
So don't put up a fight

Miriam
When you were having fun
In my big pretty house
Did you think twice

Miriam
Was it a game to you
Was it a game to him
Don't tell me lies

I know he said it's not your fault
But I don't believe that's true
I've punished him from ear to ear
Now I've saved the best for you
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
And I tried not to hurt you
'Cause you might not be that bad
But it takes a lot to make me go this mad

Oh Miriam
That's such a pretty name
And I'll keep saying it
Until you die

Miriam
You know you done me wrong
I'm gonna smile when
You say goodbye

You know you done me wrong
I'm gonna smile when
I take your life

All A Dream

And we finally awake
And walk into the sunny day
I can see it in your face
That everything will be okay

'Cause you never hurt
Someone who wants to learn
To be your slave

And the night is oh so clear
The clouds will never reappear
But the moon is out of place
And all the trees are looking strange

And feeling the warmth of your breath
Against my skin
Now I hope this isn't only just a dream

So we run into a church
The people all look the same
And the sun is in my eyes
I'm trying hard to scream your name
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
My stomach starts to churn
And the curtains in the wind begin to burn
And now I know it's all a dream

Enemy sleeps with the night all day
Enemy teasing every minute in my mind
He's in my mind

Enemy throws all my money away
Enemy knows how to make me always pay
I always pay

Enemy lines all cross my mind
Enemy talks, talking so nice and kind
So nice and kind

And how long does it take
To fight off this weakness
And tell him to guard me
'Cause God knows I'm sorry

I Don't Wanna Hear Another Sound

(Target Exclusive)

My balance was gone, but so is the pain
Was waitin' around, but you never came
So I ran into Tony
He grabbed on my body
I told him I missed you
He told me he loved me
And hey, I liked the way he said my name
That's all he had to say

The damage is done, but so is the wait
And I tried not to run cause it would be a mistake
But it would be a mistake if I just took my time
Cause I'd be waiting around just to pay for your crimes
And hey, I know what it takes to be wrong but it feels all right to me
Rob from always on the run dot net is so bad and copy paste is a sin
Even though I know you let me down
I don't know why I can't come around
And even though I know my mind is sound
Couldn't walk away from what I've found

Your honesty's good but too much is bad
And I've been trying to hold on to something I've never had
Cause I've never had you just as I have you now
That you're afraid of losin' but you're not scared enough
Hey wait, you wipe that smile right off of your face
Cause I don't know where it came from

Even if I know I won't be found
I will still be hiding underground
Even if I go outside I find
You've already left me far behind

Even when this song comes crashing down
I don't wanna hear another sound
No I don't wanna hear another sound

Killing Time

(Little Broken Hearts Deluxe Edition LP)

Bet you're gonna cry when I'm gone
Bet you're gonna cry when I'm gone
What a time to be wrong
What a time to be wrong

I know I'm gonna be missed
Yeah I know I'm gonna be missed
What a way to be tricked
What a waste of a trip

Never thought the day would've come
When I couldn't get up and run
See you've given me gold
And it weighed down my soul

But can I see if tomorrow will
Turn back to yesterday
Or have I gone too far to
Turn it back all the way

How can it take so long
I know that I'm killing time all alone
But it's dying too slow
Why did I take so long
I know that I'm just killing time all alone
But it's dying too slow

Bet you're gonna cry when I'm gone
Bet you're gonna cry when I'm gone
What a time to be wrong
What a time to be wrong

Sleepless Nights

( The Everly Brothers / Feels like home Japanese Bonus track )

Through these sleepless nights
i cry for you
And wonder who
is kissing you
Oh these sleepless nights
Will break my heart in two
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
Somehow through the days
I don't give in
I hide my tears
That wait within
Oh but then through sleepless nights
I cry again

Why did you go
Why did you go
Don't you know
Don't you know
I need you

I keep hoping  you'll come back to me
Oh let it be
Please let it be
Oh, my love, please end
These sleepless nights for me

Why did you go
Why did you go
Don't you know
Don't you know
I need you

I keep hoping  you'll come back to me
Oh let it be
Please let it be
Oh, my love, please end
These sleepless nights for me

My love, please end these sleepless nights for me

I'll Be Your Baby Tonight

( Bob Dylan )

Close your eyes, close the door
You don't have to worry anymore
Cause I'll be your baby tonight

Shut the light and shut the shade
You don't have to be afraid
'Cause I'll be your baby tonight
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away
We're gonna forget it
That big fat moon
Is gonna shine like a spoon
But we're gonna let it
You won't regret it

Kick your shoes off
And don't you fear
Bring that bottle over here
Cause I'll be your baby tonight

Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away
We're gonna forget it
That big fat moon
Is gonna shine like a spoon
But we're gonna let it
You won't regret it

Kick your shoes off
And don't you fear
Bring that bottle over here
Cause I'll be your baby tonight
Cause I'll be your baby tonight
Cause I'll be your baby tonight, tonight

Jesus, Etc.

( Wilco / Live At Living Room EP )

Jesus, don't cry
You can rely on me, honey
You can combine anything you want

I'll be around
You were right about the stars
Each one is a setting sun

Tall buildings shake
Voices escape singing sad, sad songs
Tuned to chords, strung down your cheeks
Bitter melodies turning your orbit around

Don't cry
You can rely on me, honey
You can come by any time you want

I'll be around
You were right about the stars
Each one is a setting sun

Tall buildings shake
Voices escape singing sad, sad songs
Tuned to chords, strung down your cheeks
Bitter melodies turning your orbit around
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
Voices cry
Skyscrapers are scraping together
Your voice is smoking
And last cigarettes
Are all you can get
Turning your orbit around

Our love, our love
Our love is all we have
Our love
Our love is all of God's money
Each one is a burning sun

Tall buildings shake
Voices escape singing sad, sad songs
Tuned to chords, strung down your cheeks
Bitter melodies turning your orbit around

Voices cry
Skyscrapers are scraping together
Your voice is smoking
Last cigarettes are all you can get
Turning your orbit around

Last cigarettes are all you can get
Turning your orbit around
Last cigarettes are all you can get
Turning your orbit around

Sweet Dreams

( Patsy Cline / With Jim Campilongo )

Sweet dreams of you
Every night that I go through
I should forget the past and start loving someone new
Instead of having sweet dreams about you

You don't love me, it's plain
I should know
That I'll never wear your ring
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
I should hate you
The whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you

You don't love me, it's plain
I should know
That I will never wear your ring

I should hate you
The whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
Oh instead of having sweet dreams about you

Cry Cry Cry

( Johnny Cash Cover / Live At Living Room EP )

Everybody knows where you go when the sun goes down
I think you only live to see the lights of town
I wasted my time when I would try, try, try
When the lights have lost their glow, you're gonna cry, cry, cry
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
I lie awake at night and wait 'til you come in
You stay a little while and then you're gone again
Every question that I ask, I get a lie, lie, lie
For every lie you tell, you're gonna cry, cry, cry

You're gonna cry, cry, cry and you'll cry alone
When everyone's forgotten and you're left on your own
You're gonna cry, cry, cry

Soon your sugar-mamas will all be gone
You'll wake up some cold day and find you're alone
You'll call to me but I'm gonna tell you: "Bye, bye, bye"
When I turn around and walk away, you'll cry, cry, cry

When your fickle little love gets old, no one will care for you
You'll come back to me for a little love that's true
I'll tell you no and you gonna ask me why, why, why
When I remind you of all of this, you'll cry, cry, cry

You're gonna cry, cry, cry and you'll cry alone
When everyone's forgotten and you're left on your own
You're gonna cry, cry, cry

You're gonna cry, cry, cry and you'll want me there
When everyone's forgotten and you're left on your own
You're gonna cry, cry, cry
You're gonna cry, cry, cry

Picture In A Frame

( Tom Waits )

The sun come up it was blue and gold
The sun come up it was blue and gold
The sun come up it was blue and gold
Ever since I put your picture in a frame

I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
I come calling in my Sunday best
Every since I put your picture in a frame
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
I'm gonna love you
Till the wheels come off
Oh yeah

I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture in a frame

I love you baby and I always will
Ever since I put your picture in a frame
Ever since I put your picture in a frame

Hands on the Wheel

( Willie Nelson / with M. Ward )

At a time when the world seems to be spinning
Hopelessly out of control
There's deceivers and believers
And old in-betweeners
That seem to have no place to go

Well, it's the same old song
It's right and it's wrong
And living is just something that I do
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
And with no place to hide
I looked in your eyes
And I found myself in you

I looked to the stars, tried all of the bars
Yes and I've nearly gone up in smoke
With my hand's on the wheel, I've something that's real
And I feel like I'm going home

And in the shade of an oak down by the river
Sit an old man and a boy
Setting sail, spinning tales and fishing for whales
With a lady they both enjoy

It's the same damn tune, it's the man in the moon
It's the way that I feel about you
And with no place to hide, I looked in your eyes
And I found myself in you

And I looked to the stars, tried all of the bars
And I've nearly gone up in smoke
With my hand's on the wheel, I've something that's real
And I feel like I'm going home
Yes and I feel like I'm going home

She

( Gram Parsons )

She, she came from the land of the cotton
Land that was nearly forgotten by everyone
And she worked and she slaved so hard
A big old field was her back yard in the delta sun
Oh, but she sure could sing
Oh, she sure could sing

Then He looked down and He took a little pity
The whole town swore He decided
He'd help her some
And He didn't mind if she wasn't very pretty
For deep inside His heart He knew
She was the only one
Oh but she sure could sing
Yea, she sure could sing
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
She had faith, she had believing
She led all the people together in singing
And she prayed every night to the Lord up above
Hallelujah. Oh hallelujah
They use to walk singing songs by the river
Even when she knew for sure
She had to go away
And she never knew what her life had to give her
And never had to worry about it
For one single day
My but she sure could sing
Oh yes, sure could sing

She had faith, she had believing
Led all the people together in singing
And she prayed every night to the Lord up above
Hallelujah. Oh hallelujah
She, she came from the land of the cotton
Land that was nearly forgotten by everyone
And she worked and she slaved so hard
A big old field was her back yard in the delta sun
Oh, but she sure could sing
My, she sure could sing
Oh, but she sure could sing
Oh, but she sure could sing

My Blue heaven

( Fats Domino Tribute )

When whippoorwills call and evening is night
I hurry to my Blue Heaven
Just a turn to the right, a little white light
Will lead me to my Blue Heaven
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
You'll see a smiling face, a fireplace, a cozy room
A little nest that nestles where the roses bloom
Just Molly and me, and baby makes three
We're happy in my blue heaven

You'll see a smiling face, a fireplace, a cozy room
A little nest that nestles where the roses bloom
Just Molly and me, and baby makes three
We're happy in my blue heaven

Peace

( Cover - Horace Silver / Where we live LP )

There's a place that I know, where the sycamores grow
And daffodils have their fun
Where the cares of the day seem to slowly fade away
And the glow of the evening sun
Peace, when the day is done
I'm always on the run and I hate copy past for god's sake
If I go there real late; let my mind meditate
On everything to be done
If I search deep inside; let my conscience be my guide
Then the answers are sure to come
Don't have to worry none

When you find peace of mind, leave your worries behind
Don't say that it can't be done
With a new point of view, life's true meaning comes to you
And the freedom you seek is won
Peace is for everyone
Peace is for everyone
Peace is for everyone

Foreverly

Roving Gambler

I am a roving gambler I gambled all around
Whenever I meet with a deck of cards
I lay my money down
Lay my money down, lay my money down

I had not been in Washington many more weeks than three
I met up with a pretty little girl
She fell in love with me
She fell in love with me, fell in love with me

She took me in her parlour, she cooled me with her fan
She whispered low in her mother's ear
I love that gambling man
Love that gambling man, love that gambling man

Oh daughter, oh dear daughter
How can you treat me so
Leave your dear old mother
And with a gambler go
With a gambler go, with a gambler go

My mother, oh dear mother
You can not understand
If you ever see me a coming back
I'll be with a gambling man
With a gambling man, with a gambling man

I left her here in El Paso and I wound up in Maine
I met up with a gambling man
Got in a poker game
Got in a poker game, got in a poker game

We put our money in the pot and dealt the cards around
I saw him deal from the bottom of the deck
And I shot that gambler down
Shot the gambler down, shot the gambler down

Well, now I'm in the jailhouse got a number for my name
The Warden said as he locked the door
You've gambled your last game
Gambled your last game, gambled your last game

I am a roving gambler I gambled all around
Whenever I meet with a deck of cards
I lay my money down
Lay my money down, lay my money down

Long Time Gone

You cheated me and made me lonely
I tried to be your very own
There'll be a day you'll want me only
But when I leave, I'll be a long time gone
Be a long time gone, be a long time gone
Yes, when I leave, I'll be a long time gone

You're gonna be sad, you're gonna be weeping
You're gonna be blue and all alone
You'll regret the day you seen me leaving
‘Cause when I leave, I'll be a long time gone
Be a long time gone, be a long time gone
Yes, when I leave, I'll be a long time gone

You'll see my face through tears and sorrow
You'll miss the love you called your own
Baby, there'll be no tomorrow
‘Cause when I leave, I'll be a long time gone
Be a long time gone, be a long time gone
Yes, when I leave, I'll be a long time gone

Be a long time gone, be a long time gone
Yes, when I leave, I'll be a long time gone
Yes, when I leave, I'll be a long time gone

Lightning Express

The lightning express from the depot so grand
Had started out on its way
All of the passengers that were on board
Seemed to be happy and gay

But one little boy who sat by himself
Was reading a letter he had
You could plainly tell by the look on his face
That the contents of it made him sad

The stern old conductor then started his round
Taking tickets from everyone there
And finally reaching the side of the boy
He gruffly demanded his fare

"I have no ticket" the boy then replied
"But I'll pay you back someday"
"Then I'll put you off at the next stop we make"
But he stopped when he heard the boy say

"Please Mr. Conductor
Don't put me off of this train
The best friend I have in this world sir
Is waiting for me in pain
Expecting to die any moment sir
And may not live through the day
I wanna reach home and kiss mother goodbye
Before God takes her away."

A girl sitting near was heard to exclaim
"If you put him off, it's a shame."
Taking his hand, a collection she made
The boy's way was paid on the train

"I'm obliged to you miss for your kindness to me."
"You're welcome," she said, never fear
Each time the conductor would pass through the car
The boy's words would ring in his ear

"Please Mr. Conductor
Don't put me off of this train
The best friend I have in this world sir
Is waiting for me in pain
Expecting to die any moment sir
And may not live through the day
I wanna reach home and kiss mother goodbye
Before God takes her away."

Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine

In a vine covered shack in the mountains
Bravely fighting the battle of time
Is a dear one who's weathered my sorrows
'Tis that silver haired daddy of mine

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old daddy I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own, if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine

I know it's too late dear old daddy
To repay for those sorrows and cares
Though dear mother is waiting in heaven
Just to comfort, and solace you there

If I could recall all the heartaches
Dear old daddy I've caused you to bear
If I could erase those lines from your face
And bring back the gold to your hair

If God would but grant me the power
Just to turn back the pages of time
I'd give all I own, if I could but atone
To that silver haired daddy of mine

Down In The Willow Garden

Down in the Willow garden
Where me and my love did meet
As we sat a-courtin'
My love fell off to sleep
I had a bottle of Burgundy wine
My love she did not know
So I poisoned that dear little girl
On the banks below

I drew a sabre through her
It was a bloody knife
I threw her in the river
Which was a dreadful sign
My father often told me
That money would set me free
If I would murder that dear little girl
Whose name was Rose Connelly

My father sits at his cabin door
Wiping his tear-dimmed eyes
For his only son soon shall walk
To yonder scaffold high
My race is run, beneath the sun
The scaffold waits for me
For I did murder that dear little girl
Whose name was Rose Connelly

Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet

Who's gonna shoe, your pretty little feet
Who's gonna glove your little hands
Who's gonna kiss, your ruby red lips
Who

Papa's gonna shoe, your pretty little feet
Mama's gonna glove, your little hands
And I'm gonna kiss, your ruby red lips
Who

Who's gonna shoe, your pretty little feet
Who's gonna glove your little hands
Who's gonna kiss, your ruby red lips
Who

Papa's gonna shoe, your pretty little feet
Mama's gonna glove, your little hands
And I'm gonna kiss, your ruby red lips
Who

Oh So Many Years

All these many years I've loved you
No-one has ever known
No-one has ever known but you alone
I've kept it locked inside my heart
And smiled through all my tears
My darling, I have loved you oh so many years

Each night within my lonely room
I cry dear, over you
And pray to God that things will turn out right
But when the dawn of day appears
I brush away my tears
My darling, I have loved you oh so many years

I'll go on pretending that my life is oh so gay
And happy dear without you by my side
When all the time my heart is longing just to have you near
My darling I have loved you oh so many years

Maybe fate will lead us down a path where we will meet again
And then we both be free to love anew
Then one sweet kiss from your dear lips
Will banish all my fears
My darling I have loved you oh so many years
My darling I have loved you oh so many years

Barbara Allen

T'was in the merry month of May
When flowers were a-bloomin'
Sweet Willie on his deathbed lay
For the love of Barbara Allen

He sent his servant to the town
The town where she did dwell in
Saying "Master dear has sent me here
If your name is Barbara Allen"

Then slowly, slowly she got up
And slowly she went to him
And all she said when she got there
"Young man, I think you're dying"

"Oh don't you remember the other day
When we were in the tavern?
You drank your health to the ladies there
And you slighted Barbara Allen"

He turned his face unto the wall
He turned his back upon her
so long farewell to all my friends
Be kind to Barbara Allen"

She looked to the east, she looked to the west
She saw his corpse a-comin'
"Oh sit him down for me" she cried
"That I may gaze upon him"

The more she looked the more she grieved
She bursted out to cryin'
Sayin' "Pick me up and carry me home
For I feel like I am dyin'"

They buried Willie in the old churchyard
And Barbara in the new one
From Willie's grave there grew a rose
From Barbara's a green briar

They grew and grew to the old church wall
And could not grow no higher
And there they died in a true love-knot
The rosebush and the briar

Rockin' Alone (In An Old Rockin' Chair)

Sitting alone in an old rocking chair
I saw an old mother with silvery hair
She seemed so neglected by those who should care
Rocking alone in an old rocking chair

Her hands were all callused and wrinkled and old
A life of hard work was the story they told
And I thought of angels as I saw her there
Rocking alone in an old rocking chair

Bless her old heart, do you think she'd complain
Though life has been bitter she'd live it again
And carry that cross that is more than her share
Rocking alone in an old rocking chair

It wouldn't take much just to gladden her heart
Just some small remembrance on somebody's part
A letter would brighten her empty life there
Rocking alone in an old rocking chair

I look at her and I think "What a shame"
The ones who forgot her she loves just the same
And I think of angels as I see her there
Rocking alone in an old rocking chair

I'm Here To Get My Baby Out Of Jail

"I'm not in your town to stay"
Said a lady old and gray
To the warden of the penitentiary
"I'm not in your town to stay
And I'll soon be on my way
I'm just here to get my baby out of jail
Oh warden, I'm just here to get my baby out of jail"

"I tried to raise my baby right
I have prayed both day and night
That he wouldn't follow footsteps of his dad
I have searched both far and wide
And I feared that he had died
But at last I've found my baby here in jail
Oh warden, at last I've found my baby here in jail"

"It was just five years today
When his daddy passed away
He was found beneath the snow so cold and white
T'was then I bowed to take his ring
And his gold watch and his chain
Then the county laid his daddy in the grave
Yes warden, the county laid his daddy in the grave"

"I will pawn you his watch
I will pawn you his chain
I will pawn you my diamond wedding ring
I will wash all your clothes
I will scrub all your floors
If that will get my baby out of jail
Yes warden, if that will get my baby out of jail"

Then I heard the warden say to the lady old and gray
"I'll go bring your darling baby to your side"
Two iron gates swung wide apart
She held her darling to her heart
She kissed her baby boy and then she died
But smiling, she kissed her baby boy and then she died

"I'm not in your town to stay" said a lady old and gray
"I'm just here to get my baby out of jail
Yes warden, I'm just here to get my baby out of jail"

Kentucky

Kentucky
You are the dearest land outside of Heaven to me
Kentucky
I miss your laurel and your redbud trees

When I die,
I want to rest upon a graceful mountain so high
For that is
Where God will look for me

Kentucky
I miss the old folks singing in the silvery moonlight
Kentucky
I miss the hound dogs chasin' coons

I know that
My mother, dad and sweetheart are waiting for me
Kentucky
I will be coming soon
Kentucky

Put My Little Shoes Away

Mother dear come bathe my forehead
For I'm growing very weak
Mother let one drop of water
Fall upon my burning cheek

I'm going away to leave you mother darling
And remember what I say
Do this won't you please dear mother
Put my little shoes away

Santa Claus he brought them to me
With a lot of other things
I believe he brought an Angel
With a pair of golden wings

Tell my loving little playmates
That I never more will play
Give them all my toys but mother
Put my little shoes away

I'm going away to leave you mother darling
And remember what I say
Do this won't you please dear mother
Put my little shoes away

Day Breaks

Burn

The plot begins with you
And me in darklit rooms
Your cigarette cuts through
I wear it like perfume

The melody gives way
We silently behave
The story never read
Is torn up into shreds
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
I see it in your eyes
The invitation lies
But pages left to turn
Are chapters we should burn

The melody gives way
We silently behave
The story never ends
Is torn up into shreds

I see it in your eyes
An invitation lies
But pages left to turn
Are chapters we should burn

Tragedy

It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy

He was only twenty five
Had an open heart and tender mind
He sang through all the hymns he knew
He was searching for a higher sign
When his water was turned to wine
All the darkness became light
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
The babies and a patient wife
They just weren't enough to keep him high
So he gave them up
Just to fill his cup
Every sip would make him feel alive
No bones in his body were dry

It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy

Now he's finally coming around
He's got wrinkles and a crooked frown
He holds back tears thinking of the years
That the bottle had him all tied down
So he'd sit and have another round
Singing Hallelujah til he drowns

It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy

It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy
It's a tragedy

Flipside

I tried to get high, but you wanted me low
Good things are happening, but happening slow
It's some kind of mystery from long ago

I finally know who I'm supposed to be
My mind was locked but I found the key
Hope it don't all slip away from me

Hard times, fine lines
Moments pass by and I cry
Rewind, step behind
It's hard to find the flipside
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free
Then why does it seem we can't just be

You saw your reflection all over the news
Your temperature's well past a hundred and two
Put the guns away, or we'll all gonna lose

Stand by, or take flight
Eat or throw your piece pie
Walk on, or be mine
Moments fly by and I cry

I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free
Then why does it seem we can't just be

I can't stand when you tell me to get back
If we're all free
Then why does it seem we can't just be

It's a Wonderful Time for Love

It's a wonderful time for love
It's a wonderful time for love
The sun shines down from above

It's a wonderful time for love
And you think you have all you've dreamed of
But with all the grey blue skies just ain't enough

When the sun goes down
Can we sleep safe and sound

A wonderful time for love
Time for dealing a different game
The one where we don't have to place the blame

How much can we bear
If pain is all we share
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
A wonderful time for love
Such a beautiful time to rise
And walk away from all the endless lies
And try to see the world through other eyes

And Then There Was You

And then there was you
And then there was you, my dear
I thought love was a game
One would win or would lose
Until I found you
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
Until I found you, my dear
I thought love was a shame
So I threw it away
And then there was you

I thought I was right
But now it seems I was wrong
I just waited so long and I feared love had gone
And then there was you

Don't Be Denied

When she was a young girl
My mama said to her
"Your daddy's leaving home today
I think he's gone to stay"
They packed up all their bags
And drove out to Anchorage

When they got to Anchorage
She checked in to school
She wore white chucks on her feet
When she learned the golden rule
The punches came fast and hard
Lying on her back in the school yard
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied

Well pretty soon she met a friend
She played guitar
They used to sit on the steps at school
And dream of being stars
They started a band
They played all night

Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied

The businessmen crowded around
They came to hear the golden sound
There we were on the Sunset Strip
Playing their songs for the highest bid
They played all night
The price was right

Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied
Don't be denied, don't be denied

Well, all that glitters isn't gold
You know you've heard that story told
And she's a pauper in a naked disguise
A millionaire through a businessman's eyes
Oh friend of mine
Don't be denied

Day Breaks

Day breaks in your head
And you're finally alone
I'll find a way to make it through
But it keeps raining in your heart

Time follows you around
Ticking slowly at your nerves
It's amazing that we made it through
'Cause it keeps raining in your heart
Raining in your heart
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
Maybe you should go away
If the love we had is meant to stay
Find a place to call your own
No need to roam around the rooms
That once made up a home

Day breaks in my head
And I find myself alone
Hope you find a way to make it through
'Cause it keeps raining in my heart
Raining in my heart
Raining in my heart

Peace

There's a place that I know
Where the sycamores grow
And daffodils have their fun
Where the cares of the day
Seem to slowly fade away
In the glow of the evening sun
Peace, when the day is done
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
If I go there real late
Let my mind meditate
On everything to be done
If I search deep inside
Let my conscience be my guide
Then the answers are sure to come
Don't have to worry none

When you find peace of mind
Leave your worries behind
Don't say that it can't be done
With a new point of view
Life's true meaning comes to you
And the freedom you seek is won
Peace is for everyone
Peace is for everyone
Peace is for everyone

Once I Had a Laugh

Once I had a laugh
And when I'm older
I will not forget

That once I had a laugh
And when I'm tired
I will not forget

That once I had a laugh
And when I've fallen
I will not forget
That once I had a laugh

Once I had a laugh
And now I'm older
But I will not forget
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
That once I had a laugh
And now I'm fallin'
But I will not forget

That once I had a laugh
I hear you callin'
But it's not over yet

'Cause once I had a laugh
Oh, oh, oh...
I had a

Sleeping Wild

It's getting late
I'll be on my way
Seems that you have nothing left
To say

But now that you
Have had a few
Words that were lost have found
Their way
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
I love you, adore you
Awake, but in the night
Deceive you and leave you
Sleeping wild

I love you, adore you
Awake, but in the night
Deceive you and leave you
Sleeping wild

Carry On

And after all's been said and done
Who said it best, were you the one
Let's just forget, leave it behind
And carry on

If you should find the time to speak
Then speak to me, I'd never keep
You from your final destiny
So carry on

Into the quiet I am bound
What you have lost, I've never found
I lost my nerve, yet peace surrounds
So carry on
Help and participate instead of copy and paste
Into the quiet I am bound
What you have lost, I've never found
I lost my nerve, yet peace surrounds
So carry on

And now that all's been said and done
Who said it best, were you the one
Let's just forget, leave it behind
And carry on

Let's just forget, leave it behind
And carry on

Begin Again

Every thought that I ignore
Another question's at my door
Yes, when will we begin
To believe in this again
Can we believe
Can we believe

I walk down the street
With shadows at my feet
And words in my head
So much left unsaid
Do you know how we got here
Do you know how we got here

I drank to clear my throat
Enough to eat the words you wrote
I've said these words before
Felt this way, closed that door
Are you a stranger
Are you a stranger

Never seemed to bother me
Now I find it hard to breathe
Everything that you wrote
Sticks inside and chokes my throat
Do I think way too much
Are we running out of luck

Can a nation built on blood
Find its way out of the mud
Will the people at the top
Lose their way enough to stop
Can we begin again
Can we begin again
Can we begin again
Can we begin again

It Was You

Enter the nights all remains
Make me get up off my feet
Take the beat out of my heart
Now the people might believe

And I knew, and I knew
And I knew, and I knew it was you
And I knew, and I knew
And I knew, and I knew it was you
And I knew, and I knew
And I knew, I knew it was you
And I knew, and I knew
And I knew

Moments fall like crimson nights
Some stick to my skin tonight
Take a breath and shake them off
Eyes ahead, don't you wait too long

And I knew, and I knew
And I knew, and I knew it was you
And I knew, and I knew
And I knew, and I knew it was you
And I knew, and I knew

A Song With No Name

(Feat. Jeff Tweedy)

Do I love you too much
Do I hold you too tight
Have you had enough
You shake me off in the night

If I had a gun
If I had a knife
If I had your love
If I was your wife

If I go on my own
And I see you in my dreams
And I hope to again
I have silently schemed

If I had a gun
If I had a knife
If I was the one
If I was your wife

Uh Oh

If I say it to your face, uh oh
Will you step out of the way, don't go
What would happen if I look out the window
Is life slipping in and out of place, uh oh
Please just tell me what to say, uh oh
Do you still think I'm okay (oh no)
What's the point of only looking for problems
When solving them sends me into space
(Uh oh, uh oh)
I'll jump out the window and float up to find myself disgraced

(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no
(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no, oh no
Uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh

If I breathe I will misplace my fear
I won't walk away in anger dear
Or in time I will forget
And I stumble toward you with hands around your neck
You hear, you hear
I look out the window and life, it has shifted out of place
Oh dear, oh dear
I'll just look out the window
My life's slipping in and out of place

Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, uh oh)
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, oh)
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no
(Uh oh, oh)
Oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no

Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh
Uh oh, uh oh

Wintertime

I'm alone, but I feel alright
In the summertime and the fall
In the spring, when the house is dark
Doesn't bother me at all

I know, I know, it's in the light
The shadows start to move
There's a hurt in the wintertime
Makes it hard for you

There's a dream, a dream I had
That makes me sad on the road
That the sun keeps running from
Everyone I love

I know, I know, I know I'm leaning
I'm leaning on you
It's hard, I know, I know there isn't
Much that you can do

I know, I know, I know I'll make it
I'll make it through
In the wintertime, there's a kind of light
I only get from you

I know, I know, it's only light
It's only light to you
But there's a thing called the wintertime
I can't make it through

I know, I know, I know I'm leaning
I'm leaning on you
It's hard, I know, I know there isn't
Much that you can do

I know, I know, I know I'll make it
I'll make it through
In the wintertime, there's a kind of light
I only get from you

Just A Little Bit

Oh no
I'm not the one you can ignore
I'm not like those you had before

Oh hell no
I'm not a toy just here for fun
I won't be tossed aside and down
I'm not the one, I'm not the one

Oh hey you
Come over here
I'm not the one you can refuse
I'm not your plaything
I'm not your muse

Oh hey you
Get over here
If you should ruin what I've become
You'll be sorry that you thought I was the one

I'm on fire, I'm on fire
Take me higher, I'm on fire

Oh hey you
Get out of here
I'm not the one to go insane
Said, I'm amazed
Oh come and tell me that you know you do

Get out of here
I'm not the one you can dismiss
I'm here forever
I found my bliss

I'm on fire, I'm on fire
I'm on fire, I'm on fire

Just a little bit
Just a little bit
Just a little bit

Oh hey you
Get over here
(I'm on fire) Just a little bit
(I'm on fire) Just a little bit
(I'm on fire) Just a little bit
(I'm on fire)

I'm on fire, I'm on fire
Take me higher, take me higher
I'm on fire, I'm on fire
I'm on fire, I'm on fire

PICK ME UP OFF THE FLOOR

How I Weep

How I
How I
Weep for the loss
And it creeps down my chin
For the heart and the hair
And the skin and the air
That swirls itself around the bare

How I weep
How I weep
How I weep and I sleep
And I march and I dance
And I sing and I laugh and I laugh and I laugh
But inside
But inside
Inside I weep
Inside I weep and I weep
For a loss that's so deep
That it hardens and turns into stone

There it stays
And rolls through bones
Till they crumble
And the Earth doesn't spin
It's got no way to win
And the stars stare down with sad clown faces
And they taunt me, they taunt me
So I run and I run and I run and I run
But I've nowhere to go except into the sun

And I weep for the loss
And the loss weeps for me
The loss weeps for me
Then it whacks me straight into my stomach at night
It's a hard blow to take with all of its might
And it tries to be sorry, it tries to be sweet
Then it runs out the door as if on two feet

And I stand there and wonder when will I be free
Then I realized I held it, it never held me
It had to hurt me to finally be gone
'Cause I made the mistake of dragging it on
And I wonder what kind of person am I
Who weeps for a loss but can't tell it goodbye

How I
How I weep
How I weep
How I weep

How I
How I weep
How I weep
How I weep

Flame Twin

I am the runner
You are the chaser
My twin in flames
Till we meet again

I am the lost
You can't be found
My twin in flames
Lift me from the ground

You are the hider
I am the seeker
My twin, I'm in flames
I'm rolling about

I have a name
You call me by none
My twin, I'm on fire
Come put me out

As God is my witness
I try to be strong
But my twin, I'm on fire
Don't string me along

Wake you from slumber
You fall so hard
Twin, we're in flames
We've gone too far

My pockets are empty
Your heart is stripped bare
My twin in flames
We're not even there

Can't see
Past the border or smoke
My twin, enflamed
Who I'm sorry I woke

The circle continues
As plain as can be
My love, let me go
I should let you be

You are the runner
I am the chaser
My twin in flames
Till we meet again

Hurts To Be Alone

Take from me what you can hold
The things I need, already sold
I'll try to be somebody else
Or find new ways to be myself

Never hurts to be alone
Never hurts to be alone
Never hurts to be alone
Never hurts to be alone

Can you make me disappear
At least for once or twice a year

It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone

Everybody is my friend
Until I run into my end

But it hurts to be alone
But it hurts to be alone
But it hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone

It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone
It hurts to be alone

Heartbroken, Day After

Heartbroken, day after
My mind is spinning
Hopelessly out of control
Heartbroken, day after
Your side is winning
And I find myself in the cold

Hey, hey
It's gonna be okay
At least that's what I tell myself
Anyway
Hey, hey
Don't look so sad
It's not that bad
Or is it
It might be today

Heartbroken, day after
My heart is racing
To find a way out of this place
Heartbroken, day after
Our world is wasting away
And it's too much to face

Oh, hey, hey
It's gonna be okay
My little one
I promise
We'll find our way
Hey, hey
Don't look so worried
We'll have to hurry
And climb out of this mess we've made

Find a way out
Find a way out
Find a way out
Find a way out

Find a way out
Find a way out
Find a way out
Find a way out

Find a way out
Find a way out

Heartbroken, day after
My mind is spinning
Hopelessly out of control

Say No More

You might find me a little undone
You might drive me mad
All the voices tell me tor run
But I know what we had

If I try to escape you
Which way should I go
Pull the red tape off my lips
No one has to know

Say no more
All the lies will wash up on the shore
Stay with me
I'll pretend you're everything I need

Take the bullet out of that gun
I'll bare you my soul
Everything you want to know
Swallow me up whole

If I call you a stranger
Will you play the part
Even if you disappear
I'll hold you in my heart

Say no more
All the lies will wash up on the shore
Stay the night
I'll pretend that I put up a fight

Say no more
All the lies will wash up on the shore
Stay the night
I'll pretend that I put up a fight

You might find me a little undone
You might find me strange
All the voices tell me tor run
Maybe I'm deranged
Maybe I'm deranged

This Life

This life as we know it
This life as we know it
This life as we know it is over

This life as we know it
This life as we know it
This life as we know it is over

Some may run
But I won't hide
Now take my pride with you

If we find
What we lost
God might see us through

Hearts frozen
Arms open
Hands shaking
Bonds breaking

This life as we know it
This life as we know it
This life as we know it is over

To Live

To live in this moment
And finally be free
Is what I was after
No chains holding me

If love is the answer
In front of my face
I'll live in this moment
And find my true place

These cracks in my heart
Can't be filled with cement
Can't find or use up
All the time that I've spent

I want a life in color
To breathe outside the lines
To live in this moment
Find peace in my mind

Who said all those things
To make you go and hide
So stuck in your head
That you can't come outside

Please, throw down the darkness
As best as you can
And live in this moment
I'll reach out my hand

To live in this moment
And finally be free
Is what I was after
No chains holding me

If love is the answer
In front of my face
I'll live in this moment
And find my true place

I'll live in this moment
And find my true place
I'll live in this moment
And find my true place

I'm Alive

Just sit and wait
Don't move, just hesitate
You can hope and pray
You can moan
Maybe things will change

You feel your soul
Get hollowed out
While the world implodes
You just live without

She walks, she runs
She fights almost as one
And finds her voice
She'll march
She has no choice

She's crushed by thoughts
At night of men
Who want her rights
And usually win

But she's alive
Oh she's alive
She's alive
Oh she's alive

He screams, he shouts
The heads on the TV bow
They take the bait
They mirror waves of hate

They break down walls
To free their sins
And then their hearts
Come caving in

Oh I watch, I think
I dance and sometimes I drink
I sing my songs
I'll hope someone sings along

If I should break
My silent streak
Will knives come out
To cut my cheek

Oh I'm alive
Yes, I'm alive
But I'm alive
Oh I'm alive
I'm alive
Oh I'm alive
Yes, I'm alive
Yes, I'm alive

I care a lot
I know the things I'm not
It's alright, it's OK
And it's not
Maybe things will change

Were You Watching

Were you watching
When I dropped seeds from the window
Were you watching
When I built walls from paper and glue
Were you watching
When the flowers bloomed in the springtime
Were you watching
Darling, where were you

Were you listening
When there was nothing more to say
Were you listening
I sang sad songs anyway
Were you hiding
When our love was in the deepest danger
Were you watching
As we slowly turned into strangers

Were you watching
Were you watching
Were you watching
Were you watching

Were you watching
When the flowers died in the winter
Were you watching
When I burned the walls of paper and glue
Were you watching
Darling, where were you
Were you watching
Darling, where were you
Darling, where were you
Darling, where were you
Darling, where were you

Stumble On My Way

Above the clouds
I found the place
Where I can be
Without a trace

Wandering eyes
Can dance away
All of their blues
Out into space

You hold me up
I can't come down
Until I turn
Myself around

The sun is fading
Into white
All of the beauty
And all of your light

Is almost gone
A passing dream
And I'll never know
What it all means

I'll sing a song
I'll have a time
And I'm holding on
To what is mine

But I'll kiss the dawn
Of a new day
And then I'll stumble
On my way

I'll sing a song
I'll have the time
And I'm holding on
To what is mine

I'll kiss the dawn
Of a new day
And then I'll stumble on my way
And then I'll stumble on my way

Heaven Above

I'm lonely
'Cause I'm looking at pictures of you
While I listen the snow
Being pushed off of the roof

I can't stand it
When I forget the things that I've got
And I'm wondering why
They were not in my life, no sign

I was mistaken
When I thought we could have it all
We can see what we wanna see
Before we have to fall

I'm just smiling
At the thought of a day long ago
When you asked me to stay and I left
At the fork in the road

We were dancing
In the place where your heart was in love
And the pieces of wind in our place
Sent from heaven above

Tryin' To Keep It Together

(Pick Me Up Off The Floor Bonus Track)

Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together

Keeping up all the time
Conversations are empty
How do we really know
Trying to keep it together

I'll be quiet
You be quiet too
As we are

I'll be quiet
You be quiet too
As we are
Quiet too
As we are

Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together
Trying to keep it together

I Dream Of Christmas

Christmas Calling (Jolly Jones)

I wanna hear the music play
I wanna dance and laugh and sway
I want a happy holiday
For Christmas

I could call you on the phone
Sing a song, it feels like home
Instead of feeling all alone
This Christmas

And the snow is falling, can't you see
Is it Christmas calling out to me

If I could be with you tonight
Beside a fire shining bright
I'd open up to all of your light
This Christmas

This mistletoe hangs over me
I'm looking all around for glee
So, Santa, give me what I need
For Christmas

And the friends who feel like family
With their secret angels holding me
And the snow is falling, can't you see
Is it Christmas calling out to me
Is it Christmas calling out to me
Is it Christmas calling out to me

I wanna be a Jolly Jones
Instead of feeling all alone
I sing a song that feels like home
This Christmas

Christmas Don’t Be Late

(Ross Bagdasarian)

Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast

Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a Hula-Hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please, Christmas, don't be late

Want a plane that loops the loop
I still want a Hula-Hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please, Christmas, don't be late
We can hardly stand the wait
Please, Christmas, don't be late

Christmas Glow

(Norah Jones)

I want that Christmas glow
I want that dizzy little smile
Wanna roll around in the snow
You know it's been a little while

It's time we found some fun
I know I'm not the only one
Who needs some Christmas glow
Gimme that Christmas glow
I want that Christmas glow
I want that Christmas glow

I see the Christmas spark
Is coming back again
It's been years since the part
When we were so much more than friends

So c'mon over here
I'll give you all my Christmas cheer
I need some Christmas glow
Gimme the Christmas glow
I want that Christmas glow
Gimme that Christmas glow

I want that Christmas glow
Gimme that Christmas glow
Gimme that Christmas glow

White Christmas

(Irving Berlin)

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where those treetops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Well, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days, may your days
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
And may all your Christmases be white

May your days, may your days
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Christmastime

(Norah Jones/Leon Michels)

Can you believe it's Christmastime
Sometimes the joy is hard to find
All around the world
There's still ways to be kind

There is no time to sit around
We need all angels on the ground
Can we take it on
We have no choice for now

Rejoice
The precious spirit who
Has brought all of the love
I see it in you
It's in you

Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime

Take your sister by the hand
There's always room to understand
How long will it take
I do believe you can

Rejoice
The precious spirit I see
Has brought all of the love
I feel it in me
It's in me

Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime

Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime
Christmastime

Blue Christmas

(Billy Hayes/Jay W. Johnson)

I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won't be the same, dear, if you're not here with me

And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue oh those blue memories start calling
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white
Oh but I'll have a blue Christmas

You'll be doing all right
Oh with your Christmas of white
Oh but I'll have a blue oh blue, blue Christmas

You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas

It’s Only Christmas Once A Year

(Norah Jones)

It's only Christmas once a year
So gather round the tree
I'll pour you a cup of tea
Please wear a smile for me

I'm counting on my fingers all the days 'til you'll be here
Please, say that you're coming home for Christmas time
It's only Christmas once a year

Last year was so hard with all the friends I couldn't see
Christmas without you was not as bright as it could be
I pushed through those winter nights just wishing you'd appear
Please, say that you're coming home for Christmas time
It's only Christmas once a year

Gather all your loved ones, hold them close to your heart
'Cause one never knows what lies ahead or when you'll part

This year is a Christmas, I know we will not forget
Got my head held up and all my decorations set
Trying not to get my hopes too high and shed no tears
Please, say that you're coming home for Christmas time
It's only Christmas once a year

You’re Not Alone

(Norah Jones/Leon Michels)

If you are tired
And if you are scared
You're not alone

If you were good
If you were bad
You're not alone

Jesus was born
On Christmas Day
Gave us his love
To make our own way

But when those weary nights
Take over your mind
I'll share his love
Won't leave you behind

Sometimes we're proud
Sometimes we're weak
We're not alone

Sometimes we cry
Sometimes we weep
But we're not alone

Jesus was born
On Christmas Day
Gave us his love
To make our own way

But when those weary nights
Take over your mind
I'll share his love
Won't leave you behind

Jesus was born
On Christmas Day
Gave us his love
To make our own way
To make our own way
To make our own way
We're not alone

Winter Wonderland

(Richard B. Smith/Felix Bernard)

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening
In the lane snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a winter wonderland

Gone away is a bluebird
Here to stay is the new bird
He sings a love song
As we go along
Walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a Santa Clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman
Until the other kiddies knock him down

Later on we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland

In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend that he's a Santa Clown
We'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman
Until the other kiddies knock him down

Later on we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland

A Holiday With You

(Norah Jones)

Would you like to spend Christmas with me
Would you like to sit under my tree

I would be thankful for a holiday with you
A holiday for two
Just you and I, a starry sky
And nothing else to do

My heart is beating for a holiday with you
A holiday, not blue
Would be what I needed now
'Cause happy days are few

Winter isn't easy when you're holding back the tears
So be with me, my dear
Would you like to spend Christmas with me
Would you like to sit under my tree

Would you be happy with a holiday in bed
With covers over head
Your heart is lost, inside a frost
I'll give you mine instead

Winter isn't easy when you're holding back the tears
So give me yours, my dear
Would you like to spend Christmas with me
Would you like to sit under my tree
Would you like to spend Christmas with me

Run Rudolph Run

(Johnny Marks/Marvin Brodie)

Out of all the reindeer, you know you're the mastermind
Run, run, Rudolph, Randolph ain't too far behind
Run, run, Rudolph, Santa's gotta make it to town
Santa, make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
Oh run, run, Rudolph, 'cause I'm reeling like a merry-go-round

Said Santa to a little girl, "What have you been longing for"
All I want for Christmas is a rock n' roll electric guitar
And then away went Rudolph whizzing like a shooting star

Run, run, Rudolph, Santa's gotta make it to town
Santa, make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
Oh run, run, Rudolph, I'm reeling like a merry-go-round

Said Santa to a little boy, "What have you been longing for"
All he wants for Christmas is a rock n' roll electric guitar
And then away went Rudolph whizzing like a shooting star

Oh run, run, Rudolph, Santa's gotta make it to town
Santa, make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down
I said run, run, Rudolph, I'm reeling like a merry-go-round

Christmas Time Is Here

(Lee Mendelson/Vince Guaraldi)

Christmas time is here
Happiness and cheer
Fun for all the children call
Their favorite time of year

Snowflakes in the air
Carols everywhere
Olden times and ancient rhymes
Of love and dreams to share

Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there

Christmas time is here
Families drawing near
Oh that we could always see
Such spirit through the year

Sleigh bells in the air
Beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside
And joyful memories there

Christmas time is here
Families drawing near
Oh that we could always see
Such spirit through the year

Oh that we could always see
Such spirit through the year

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve

(Frank Loesser)

When the bells all ring and the horns all blow
And the couples we know are fondly kissing
Will I be with you, will I be among the missing

Maybe it's just too early in the game
Oh but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve

Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year
New Year's Eve

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of a thousand invitations
You received

Oh but in case I stand a little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of a thousand invitations
You received

Oh but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve

What are you doing New Year's Eve

O Holy Night

(John Sullivan Dwight / Target Exclusive Bonus)

O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees
O hear the angels' voices
O night divine
O night when Christ was born
O night divine, O night
O night divine

The Christmas Waltz (Amazon Exclusive)

(Frank Sinatra)

Frosted windowpanes
Candles gleaming inside
Painted candy canes on the tree
Santa's on his way
He's filled his sleigh with things
Things for you and for me

It's that time of year
When the world falls in love
Every song you hear seems to say
Merry Christmas
May your New Year dreams come true
And this song of mine
In three-quarter time
Wishes you and yours
The same thing too

He's filled his sleigh with things
Pretty things for you and for me

And this song of mine
In three-quarter time
Wishes you and yours
The same thing too

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (2022 Edition)

(Judy Garland)

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
Next year all our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
Next year all our troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Someday soon we all will be together
If the fates allow
Until then we'll have to muddle through somehow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Visions

All This Time

All this time
All this time
All this time, I think of you
I think of you
Stay with me, I'll make it easy
I'll make it easy

I think of you
I think of you

Flashes of you in white-hot heat
A moment in time, let's make it sweet
Show me how to dream, show me how to forgive
'Cause you made me love and you made me live

All this time
All this time
All this time, I think of you
I think of you

Stay with me
Flashes of you in white-hot heat
Stay with me
A moment in time, let's make it sweet
Stay with me, I'll make it easy
I'll make it easy
I'll make it easy
I'll

Staring At The Wall

Sometimes the truth seems simple in my mind
Said out loud makes me feel left behind
Just gotta thank my lucky stars tonight
Just gonna fake it till I make it right

Devil watches every step I take
Messing with the moves I'm trying to shake
Every day we do God's little dance
Never knowing when to take a chance

Money makes things seem so out of whack
Drive away in my blue Cadillac
Wheels are spinning out here on this ice
Need someone to hug me real nice

Walk in the room, staring at the wall
And I wonder what I came in for at all
Need to travel out of my own brain
It's hard to get in rhythm with this pain

Someone tell me what the hell is wrong
Nights always feel quiet and too long

Paradise

Take me back to paradise
I could make the sacrifice
I'm trying to save you
What else is there left to learn?
Watching all these fires burn
I'm waiting, it's true

I watch you fall
I try to stop
Waiting for the pain to drop
I know I've got to let you go again
Although I never wanted this to end
I know it's time to let you go

Find a place to calm your mind
I'll take yours, and you take mine
I'm begging you, please
Conversations pleading
Hearts are always beating
I'm down on my knees

I watch you fall
I try to stop
Waiting for the pain to drop
I know I've got to let you go again
Although I never wanted this to end
I know it's time to let you go

I watch you fall
I try to stop
Waiting for the pain to drop
I know I've got to let you go again
Although I never wanted this to end
I know it's time to let you go

Queen Of The Sea

If I was the Queen of the Sea
And came upon you suddenly
Would love really set us both free
It's so hard to receive what could finally be

Two hearts can be beating in bloom
Though not even in the same room
And I was a lover it's true
Though I feel like a fool
I'm a lover of you

I forgot myself
Did you take the breath out of me
I forgot to lose myself
And now we're just tragic thieves playing make believe

If you were the king of the gloom
And found me stuck in my doom
Would we turn away from the graves
Of mistakes that we've made trying not to resume
And go boom

You forgot yourself
And darkness explodes out of me
I forgot to tell myself
That love isn't too far to reach
If your heart is set free

If time wouldn't move so fast
And life could last and last
Would everyone stay in the game
That they saved or complain
Or escape on a train

Oh, we forgot ourselves
And lost what it means to believe
We forgot to hold ourselves
And you made a mess out of me
But I'm finally free, oh
Oh, you made a mess out of me
But I'm finally free, oh
Oh, you made a mess out of me
But I'm finally free

Visions

Visions in my head of running from your bed
And I don't believe I'll make it to mine

I hear a hallelujah
And I swear it's coming through you
And I can't believe I knew the first time

We met under the willow tree
You stood in front of me

Now I don't like surprises
But the look in your eyes
Is coming at me wise like a freight train

And I'm afraid your rain is gonna fall
And wash me away

Visions in my head
And everyone is dead
And I don't believe I'll wake up this time

It's time to say goodbye to your world
It's time to say goodbye

Running

From the first time I felt the click in my heart
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)
Try to sleep, but the aching tears me apart
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)

Oh am I wasting the day
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)
Oh does it hurt me to stay
(I keep running, oh 'cause I don't wanna pay

Stars shine, but start to fade in the light
Love is blind, could be wrong or it could be right
In a bind telling myself it's for you

For you
Running and running
Running and running
Running and running
Hey, hey, hey, hey
For you
Running and running
Running and running
Running and running
Hey, hey

In the night the devil knocks on my door
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)
Another life and the same thing happened before
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)

Oh and he begs me to stay
(I keep running, oh I keep running away)
Oh will he take me away
(I keep running, oh 'cause I don't wanna pay)

Stars shine, but start to fade in the light
Love is blind, could be wrong or it could be right
In a bind telling myself it's for you

For you
Running and running
Running and running
Running and running
Hey, hey, hey, hey
For you
Running and running
Running and running
Running and running
Hey, hey, hey, hey
For you
Running and running
Running and running
Running and running
Hey, hey

I Just Wanna Dance

I don't wanna talk about it
I just wanna dance, oh
I just wanna dance
I just wanna dance, oh
I just wanna dance, oh
Oh, I just wanna dance
I just wanna dance

I don't wanna laugh about it
I just wanna dance
I just wanna dance
I just wanna dance, oh
I just wanna dance
Oh, I just wanna dance
I just wanna dance
Oh, I just wanna dance
Oh, I just wanna dance

I don't wanna talk about it
I just wanna dance

I'm Awake

Remember when I lost control
I lost my soul
I'm finally awake
There were times when I lost my mind
But now I'm fine
I'm finally awake
Stuck in your sadness, swallowed me away

But I'm finally awake
The thumping in the walls is the beat of my own heart
But I'm finally awake
Now I'm finally awake

How do you know what is real

When it rains it bleeds, when it bleeds it pours
But I'm finally awake
You pushed me in the moment I deserved

But I'm finally awake
Now I'm finally awake
Now heaven looks like a fancy restaurant
And I'm finally awake

How do you know what is real

Now I'm finally awake

Fly your kite all your life
Don't let go, it'll be alright
Fly your kite all your life
Don't let go, it'll be alright
It'll be alright

Fly your kite all your life
Don't let go, it'll be alright
Fly your kite all your life
Don't let go, it'll be alright
It'll be alright

Fly your kite all your life
Fly your kite all your life
Fly your kite all your life
Don't let go, it'll be alright

It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright
It'll be alright

Swept Up In The Night

I was swept up in the night
Someone's arms who'd held me tight
Can't explain the dance or dream
What I felt was quite extreme

Traveled to the furthest place
Can't recall the perfect face
I need you so

Tried to take me, but I stopped
Before we reached the very top
Can't explain, I can't describe
Many colors burning bright

Wings of God before my eyes
I stare but never act surprised
I need you so

Somewhere in the mist
There's a place where we don't exist
Never find our way back home

In the deep of quiet nights
Never knowing what is right
Does my heart feel young and free
Never dreamed that this could be

And I find you a thousand times
Underneath the stones in my mind
I need you so

Somewhere in the mist
There's a place where we don't exist
Never find our way back home

For if I fall
I could fly from the top of this great, great wall
Never find our way back home

I was swept up in the night
Someone's arms who'd held me tight
Can't explain the dance or dream
What I felt was quite extreme

Traveled to the furthest place
Can't recall the perfect face
I need you so

On My Way

Stop and stare
Breathe the air
No one cares what you have to say
Solitude makes me rude
But in time, we all laugh and play

I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way

I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way

Close your eyes
Close your eyes
Don't be shy
Don't be shy
In the dark, you can dance and sway
Float up high
Past the sky
When the night falls, I'll come and stay

I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way

I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way

Shelter me into the sea
I'll find my way back home
Back home
Only give me what my heart
Can handle, please, my dear

In the dark, dark, you don't have to be afraid
Oh, in the night, night, you can learn to laugh and play
In the light, light, you can face another day
We'll make it right, right, don't you know
I'm on my way

I'm on my way
In the dark, dark you don't have to be afraid
I'm on my way
Oh, in the night, night, you can learn to scream and pray
I'm on my way

I'm on my way
In the light, light, you can face another day
I'm on my way
We'll make it right, right, don't you know I'm on my way
I'm on my way

Alone With My Thoughts

Let's try a test
Through space and through time
I'll whisper your name
It'll bounce down the line
Slowly explode into showers of shine

To love from a distance through waves of the air
To know your sadness, your joy and your fears
Are running around without me to be near

Alone with my thoughts, with my thoughts I'm alone
I toil away and distract in a song
I'll send you a prayer and a piece of home
My love is for you
My love is for you

That's Life

You get up, you fall down
You get up, you fall down
Down, down, down again

You wake up to sweet sounds
You forget, you calm down
Down, down, down again
Down, down, down again

That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life
That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life

You get lost, you get found
You find love, come unwound
Talk too much, hit the ground
You break up, you break down
Down, down, down again
Oh, down again
Down again

That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life
That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life
That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life
That's life, that's life, that's life, that's life

Li-li-li-li-life, li-li-li-li-life, li-li-li-li-li-life...

That's life, that's life
That's life, that's life
That's life, that's life
That's life, that's life

You get up, you fall down
Down, down, down again

Can You Believe

(Japan Ed. Bonus Track)

Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe

Do you hear me speaking
Your name is rolling off my tongue
Can you hear the whispering
The shame is not what I'll become

Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe

Sometimes when I'm crying
A diamond falls into my heart
When my eyes are drying
You come rip 'em all apart

Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe

Tell me you can hear me
Tell me I'm not alone
In this whole world
Can there be someone
Who I can call
Call my own

Come and take me higher
Than I could ever climb alone
Set my world on fire
And met this frozen piece of snow

Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe

Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe
Can you believe
