B i o g r a p h y
 (by Stephen Thomas Erlewine)

Since he was the son of cult songwriter Tim Buckley, Jeff Buckley faced more expectations and pre-conceived notions than most singer/songwriters. Perhaps it wasn't surprising that Jeff Buckley's music was related to his father's by only the thinnest of margins. Buckley's voice was grand and sweeping, which fit with the mock-operatic grandeur of his Van Morrison-meets-Led Zeppelin music. Buckley began playing while in high school. Eventually, he moved to Los Angeles to study music; while he was there, he performed with several jazz and funk bands, as well as playing with Shinehead, a leader in the dancehall reggae movement. A few years later, he moved to New York, forming Gods & Monsters with the experimental guitarist Gary Lucas. The band became a hip name, yet their lifespan was short. Buckley began a solo career playing clubs and coffeehouses, building up a considerable following. Soon, he signed a record deal with Columbia Records, releasing the Live at Sin-e EP in November of 1993. It received good reviews, yet they didn't compare to the raves Buckley's full-length debut, 1994's Grace, received. Unlike the EP, the album was recorded with a full band, which gave the record textures that surprised some of his long-time New York followers. Nevertheless, it made several year-end "Best of 1994" lists and earned him a belated alternative hit, "Last Goodbye," in the spring of 1995. A long hiatus followed as Buckley worked on material for his follow-up effort, provisionally titled My Sweetheart, the Drunk. Originally slated to be produced by Tom Verlaine, who later dropped out of the project, Buckley finally began work on the record in Memphis during the late spring of 1997. On the night of May 29, he and a friend traveled to the local Mud Island Harbor, where Buckley spontaneously decided to go swimming in the Mississippi River and waded into the water fully clothed. A few minutes later, he disappeared under the waves; authorities were quickly contacted, but to no avail — on June 4, his body was finally found floating near the city's famed Beale Street area. Buckley was 30 years old. A collection of unreleased recordings, Sketches (For My Sweetheart the Drunk), appeared in 1998, and two live albums arrived during 2000-2001, Mystery White Boy and Live at L'Olympia.

Mojo Pin

I'm lying in my bed, the blanket is warm
This body will never be safe from harm
Still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
Touch my skin to keep me whole

If only you'd come back to me
If you laid at my side
Wouldn't need no mojo pin
To keep me satisfied

Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so

Precious, precious silver and gold
And pearls in oyster's flesh
Drop down we two to serve and pray to love
Born again from the rhythm screaming down from heaven
Ageless, ageless and i'm there in your arms

Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty i love you so

The welts of your scorn, my love, give me more
Send whips of opinion down my back, give me more
Well it's you i've waited my life to see
It's you i've searched so hard for

Don't wanna weep for you, i don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty i love you so

Grace

There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it's my time coming, i'm not afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love,
But she cries to the clicking of time
Of time

Wait in the fire...

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh my love

And the rain is falling and I believe
My time has come
It reminds me of the pain
I might leave
Leave behind

Wait in the fire...

And I feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
I'm not afraid to go but it goes so slow

Last goodbye

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then i'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say "no, this can't happen to me,"
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

Lilac wine

( Words by J. Shelton / Performed by Nina Simone)

I lost myself on a cool damp night
I gave myself in that misty light
Was hypnotized by a strange delight
Under a lilac tree

I made wine from the lilac tree
Put my heart in its recipe
It makes me see what I want to see
And be what I want to be

When I think more than I want to think
Do things I never should do
I drink much more than I ought to drink
Because it brings me back you

Lilac wine is sweet and heady,
Like my love
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady,
Like my love

Listen to me, I cannot see clearly
Isn't that she, coming to me
Nearly here

Lilac wine is sweet and heady,
Where's my love
Lilac wine, I feel unsteady,
Where's my love

Listen to me, why is everything so hazy
Isn't that she, or am I just going crazy, dear

Lilac wine, I feel unready for my love
Feel unready, for my love.

So real

Love, let me sleep tonight on you couch
And remember the smell of the fabric
Of your simple city dress

Oh... that was so real

We walked around til the moon got full like a plate
The wind blew an invocation and i fell asleep at the gate
And I never stepped on the cracks 'cause i thought i'd hurt my mother
And I couldn't awake from the nightmare that sucked me in and pulled me under
Pulled me under

Oh... that was so real

I love you, but i'm afraid to love you
I love you, but i'm afraid to love you

Hallelujah

( Leonard Cohen )

I heard there was a secret chord
That david played and it pleased the lord
But you don't really care for music, do you
Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah ....

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah .... .

Baby i've been here before
I've seen this room and i've walked this floor
I used to live alone before i knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah ....

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you
But remember when i moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Well, maybe there's a god above
But all i've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
It's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah ....

Lover, you should've come over

Looking out the door i see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water
And maybe i'm too young to keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you're on my mind so you never know

When i'm broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it
Where are you tonight, child you know how much i need it
Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run

Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun
And much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one

So i'll wait for you... and i'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return
Oh will I ever learn

Oh lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late

Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep that will never come

It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over, all my riches for her smiles when i slept so soft against her
It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over, she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever

Well maybe i'm just too young
To keep good love from going wrong

Oh... lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late

Well I feel too young to hold on
And i'm much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage i've done
Sweet lover, you should've come over
Oh, love well i'm waiting for you

Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late

Corpus Christi Carol

( Benjamin Britten )

He bear her off, he bear her down
He bear her into an orchard ground

Lu li lu lay lu li lu lay
The falcon hath bourne my mate away

And in this orchard there was a hold
That was hanged with purple and gold
And in that hold there was a bed
And it was hanged with gold so red

Lu li lu lay lu li lu lay
The falcon hath bourne my mate away

And on this bed there lyeth a knight
His wound is bleeding day and night
By his bedside kneeleth a maid
And she weepeth both night and day

Lu li lu lay lu li lu lay
The falcon hath bourne my mate away

By his bedside standeth a stone
Corpus christi written thereon

Eternal life

Eternal life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin man, just need one last nail
While all these ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
There's a flaming red horizon that screams our names

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road would pave the way for you
You better turn around and blow your kiss hello to life eternal
Angel

Racist everyman, what have you done
Man, you've made a killer of your unborn son
Crown my fear your king at the point of a gun
All I want to do is love everyone

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road would pave the way for you
You better turn around and blow your kiss hello to life eternal

There's no time for hatred, only questions
What is love, where is happiness, what is life, where is peace
When will i find the strength to bring me release

Tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said
Man, it sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And i've get a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye to life eternal
Angel

Dream brother

There is a child sleeping near his twin
The pictures go wild in a rush of wind
That dark angel he is shuffling in
Watching over them with his black feather wings unfurled

The love you lost with her skin so fair
Is free with the wind in her butterscotch hair
Her green eyes bloom goodbyes
With her head in her hands and your kiss on the lips another
Dream brother
With your tears scattered round the world.

Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't belie the one who left behind his name
'Cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came

I feel afraid and i call your name
I love your voice and your dance insane
I hear your words and i know your pain
Your head in your hands and her kiss on the lips of another
Your eyes to the ground
And the world spinning round forever

Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over

Sketches for my sweetheart the drunk

The sky is a landfill

Circle around the park
Joining hands in silence
Watch the evil black the sky

The storm has ripped the shelter
Of illusion from our brow
This power is no mystery to us now.

Leave your spirit genocide
The cancer you won’t remove
We cast our funeral rose inside
And bury the need to prove
Our mutilation is to gain from the system

Ooh, turn your head away
From the screen, oh people
It will tell you nothing more
Don’t suck the milk of flaccid Bill K.
Public’s empty promise
To the people that the public can ignore

This way of life is so devised
To snuff out the mind that moves
Moving with grace the men despise
And women have learned to lose

Throw off your shame or be
a slave to the system

I see you take another drag
One more lost soul to raise your flag
The sky is a landfill
I see you take another drag
Let’s see you take another drag

You like to dance to the rolling
Head of the adulteress
You sing in praise of suicide
We know you’re useless
Like cops at the scene of the crime

With your steroids and your feedbag
And your stable and your trainer
I got a mail bomb for you Mister Strong Arm.

Throw out the stones from all the cemetery homes
For the violence of a nation gone by

Or the politics of weakness
And the garbage dump of souls
That will now black the sky

Their yellow haze and crowds of eyes
Will plug up the mind that moves
Moving with grace the men despise
And women have learned to lose
We’ll share our bodies
In disdain for the system

Oh, I see you take another drag
One nation bends to kiss the hag
The sky is a landfill
I see you take another drag
I see you take another drag
I have no fear of this machine!

Everybody here wants you

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

Twenty-nine pearls in your kiss
A singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

I’m only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I’ll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

Hmm, such a thing of wonder in this crowd
I’m a stranger in this town
You’re free with me
And our eyes locked in downcast love
I sit here proud
Even now you’re undressed in your dreams with me

Oh, I’m only here for this moment

I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I’ll be waiting right here just to show you
How our love will blow it all away

I know the tears we cried
Have dried on yesterday
The sea of fools has parted for us
There’s nothing in our way
My love

Don’t you see, don’t you see?
You’re just the torch to put the flame to all our guilt and shame
And I’ll rise like an ember in your name

I know I, I know I
I know everybody here wants you
I know everybody here thinks he needs you
I’ll be waiting right here just to show you
Oh let me show you
That love can rise, rise just like embers

Love can taste like the wine of the ages, oh babe,
And I know they all looks so good from a distance
But I tell you I’m the one

I know everybody here, well, thinks he needs you
Think he needs you
And I’ll be waiting right here just to show you.

Opened once

I once was open
And one with a travelling heart
I loved this sweet guy

Just like the fiction
Rushing in your riverbed
Arise like applause in my head

And in the half-light
Where we both stand
This is the half-light
See me as I am

Just like the ocean
Always in love with the moon
It’s overflowing now
Inside you

We fly right over
The minds of so many in pain
We are the smile of light that brings them rain

In the half light
Where we both stand
In the half light
You saw me as I am

I am a railroad track abandoned
With the sunset
Forgetting
I ever happened
That I ever happened

Nightmare by the sea

Beware the bottled thoughts of angry young men
Secret compartments hide all of the skeletons
Little girl wants to make her home with him
In the middle of the shore, she wonders

“Don’t know what you asked for.”
“Don’t know what you asked for.”

All young lovers know why
Nightmares blind their mind’s eye
Your rube is young and handsome
So new to your bedroom floor
You know damn well where you’ll go

I’ve loved so many times and I’ve drowned them all
From their coral graves, they rise up when darkness falls
With their bones they’ll scratch the window, I hear them call

“Don’t know what you asked for.”
“Don’t know what you asked for.”
“Don’t know what you asked for.”

All young lovers know why
Nightmares blind their mind’s eye
Your rube is young and handsome
So new to your bedroom floor
You know damn well where you’ll go

Stay with me under these waves, tonight
Be free for once in your life tonight

Your rube is young and handsome
So new to your bedroom floor
You know damn well where you’ll go

All young lovers know why
Nightmares blind their mind’s eye
Your rube is young and handsome
So new to your bedroom floor
You know damn well where you’ll go

All young lovers know why
Nightmares blind their mind’s eye
Your rube is young and handsome
So new to your bedroom floor
You know damn well where you’ll go.

Yard of blonde girls

( The Nymphs )

Through the yard
Through the yard of blonde girls
Through the river and the sea
Gold sharks glittering
A tree of white
Breaks the earth
The streets where Lola played

Very sexy, very sexy, okay, okay

Fear, we may come X4
So run, run, run, run, run, run, run.

It’s in your heart
It’s in your art, your beauty
Even in this world of lies
There’s purity
You’ve got innocence
In your eyes
Even in this world of lies

You’re still hopeful
Very sexy, okay, okay

Fear, we may come X4
So run, run, run, run, run, run, run

Through the yard
Through the yard of blonde girls
Through the river and the sea
Gold sharks glittering
A tree of white
Breaks the earth
The streets where Lola played

Very sexy, very sexy, okay, okay

Fear, we may come X4
So run, run, run, run, run, run, run.

Witches' rave

It sounds just like a scream
I don’t know what you mean
Your witchcraft’s all around me
In your ragged pagan scene

You tell me all the ways around my garden that you like
I float just like a bubble
Heading for a spike

All is well between the breasts of passenger and slave
We’ll never make it out alive to join
The witches’ rave

You’d like to see him suffer
For you fantasy and thrill
He fell sick while we made love
He’s out there, somewhere, still

Oh I feel the spell that you have cast, hot, pink, nasty
Bubble gum, coming down just like a big red coal

I can’t help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can’t help from looking
Outside for a guarantee

Hey! I try to keep all hidden
When you come around
Oh, no! The sight of broomsticks
Sliding on the ground
You’re levitating something
'Cause I feel so collectible

We’re all lying natural
He’s watching from a window up above
I see he loves you, I’ll bring you closer

Something in my fate says it’s not right for me
Tell me
Am I cursed or am I blessed?
I can't tell, oh yes!
'Cause all is well between the breasts of
Passenger and slave
I’ll never make it out alive to join
The witches’ rave

I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
I can't help from looking
Outside for a guarantee
For a guarantee

New year's prayer

Oooooo, Fall in light, fall in light. Fall in light, fall in light
Feel no shame for what you are X5
As you now are in your blood
Fall in light

Feel no shame for what you are
Feel no shame for what you are
Feel it as a water fall
Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, Fall in light, ooh
Fall in light, fall in light, fall in light
Grow in light

Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Stand absolved behind your electric chair, dancing
Past the sound within the sound
Past the voice within the voice

Leave your office
Run past your funeral
Leave your home, car
Leave your pulpit
Join us in the streets where we
Join us in the streets where we
Don’t belong, don’t belong
You and the stars
Throwing light

Ooooooh
Fall, fall
Ooooooh
Fall in light, fall in light. fall in light
Oooooh
Fall in light, fall in light fall in light
Grow in light

Morning theft

Time takes care of the wound
So I can believe
You had so much to give
You thought I couldn’t see

Gifts for boot heels to crush
Promises deceived
I had to send it away
To bring us back again

Your eyes and body brighten
Silent waters, deep
Your precious daughter in the
Other room, asleep

A kiss “Goodnight” from every
Stranger that I meet
I had to send it away
To bring us back again

Morning theft
Unpretender left
Ungraceful

True self is what
Brought you here, to me
A place where we can
Accept this love

Friendship battered down by
Useless history
Unexamined failure

But what am I still to you
Some thief who stole from you?
Or, some fool drama queen
Whose chances were few?

That brings us to who we need
A place where we can save
A heart that beats as
Both siphon and reservoir

You’re a woman, I’m a calf
You’re a window, I’m a knife
We come together
Making chance in the starlight

Meet me tomorrow night
Or any day you want
I have no right to wonder
Just how, or when

You know the meaning fits
There’s no relief in this
I miss my beautiful friend

I have to send it away
To bring her back again.

Vancouver

Lady
All the troubles are my fright, I disgust you
Feel the power you cut the truth into you
Why do you think I’d hidden out on this rely
I could kiss you
With lines of escape in my mouth

Please let me bring back these gifts of mine to the woman
His eyes shined on my back as I slept and knew you
You didn’t leave it all
You made an even call
My belly released the stars
And tears between the scars

We're where we belong
It should end here
Until the end of time
Beyond the moment
That ends our bondage
I am your failed husband contender
I’m your loan shark of bliss

This dream you’ve ridden on
Turns your world to explosions
You need to be alone
To heal this bleeding stone
Now, smell the rain of London it still insists
That we beg for our purity
As if we are pure in the rain of our contentment
As if I can think of this no more

You & I

You and I
Ah, the calm below that poisoned the river wild
You and I
Tears that dry on a rude awakened child
Where you look down
I’ve walked before
Burning holes
With eyes of liquid brown
If we had only known
In a way
We wouldn’t reach this ground
You were my only home
Silver eyes
I want to see you shine
And we will feel the weight
Fall away from us in time
Searching our past for the true
You and I, you and I, you and I
All for you
Where you think you’ll fall
I adore you
Where you shut your soul
I will open for you
If we had only known
In a way
We’d never reach this ground
I'll know
Silver eyes
I can see us shine
I said, we will feel the weight
Fall away from us in time
Searching our past for a true
You and I, you and I, you and I
All for you.

Haven't you heard

Your wish is my command!
Have you heard this talk about eye contact
Gonna be the downfall of this town
First the photographs take you to the right hands
Leads you to the authority mold

Paranoia will write the world prayer
Make sure that you fit in the right holes
But when you take his offer, you’re done for
Done for, done for, oooh....

Phantoms in pockets, we’re in panic
Making order in total disgust
Oh, they read a list of all who cannot stay
Take you down, on the ground

Paranoia will write this world prayer
Make sure that you fit in the right holes
But when you take his offer, you’re done for
Done for, oooh....

Make sure you learn to beware your neighbor
Bolt the doors and hire your guards
Suck your life with their virus called language
Someone told you this all would go down
And the last thing you see is the luster
Hold the razor, goodbye to your friends
Would your underground please call the mayor
Call the neighbor, call your friends

Paranoia will write the world prayer
Make sure that you fit in the right holes
But when you take his offer, you’re done for
Done for, done for, oooh....

Well, when he first saw you
You’d need no protection
Eyes trained on your mouth
You’ll learn to take him
Hmmm, It’s a brand new power, oh

My friends had her questions right
Beware your neighbor
Haven’t you heard, haven’t you heard
That we’re done for. Oh
Learn to beware your neighbor
And the right mode
Haven’t you heard?
Haven’t you heard
That we’re done for, done for ? Oh

When I count down from ten
You’ll feel the lead in your lids
You’ll have no need to exist
And wake up refreshed.

I know we could be so happy baby (If we wanted to)

There’s no easy answer
None to blame or forgive
Two cripples dancing
To the end we live

I’m not with you not of you
Not with you, not of you
You are soft and young to me
I am the ghost who comes and goes
And I hope I’ll catch you
In the throws of one last look at the wonder
One last look at the wonder

O, God, I love you
And all the past we once knew
Some other love becomes you
Whatever else we come to
I know we could be so happy, baby
If we wanted to be

You are soft and young to me
I am the ghost who comes and goes
I'm hoping that I’ll catch you in the throws
Of one last look at joy that we’ve become

But there’s no easy answer, none to blame or forgive
We were two cripples dancing
To the bitter end we live
I’m not with you, but of you
I’m not with you but of you

O, God, I loved you
And all the past we once knew
Some other love becomes you
Whatever else it comes to
I know we could be so happy, baby
If we wanted to be

We had a birthplace in common
We had separate beds and lives

I’ll just sit here and glow
Break out the oldest pictures
Hand your ruined letters out to dry
We had a birthplace in common
And separate beds and lives
And lives, and lives
I know that we could be so happy, baby
If we wanted to be
I know that we could be so happy, baby
Yeah oh.

Murder Suicide Meteor Slave

Would you like to meet the villain somewhere
Underneath the skull of a moon
Fire burned his eyes out 'cause his chains are too long for you

Someone has to pay for the damage done
No-one’s gonna love you now
Your whole family’s splintered
You’re a slave to it all now

Oooooh Ahhhhh Oh

You’re a slave to it all now
You’re a slave
Welcome down to paradise rock
There is no single entrance
With the stars to revolve around
There is no real underground

No stars to revolve around
Here, they’re fashioning the noose
Sickened by the knell of the graveyard bell
You know it’s not long for you
Sick of all the vomit childhood
Not a trampoline of the freaks
Not even a slave to your father

Oh, you’re a slave to it all, now
Oh, you’re a slave to it all, now
Welcome down to paradise rock
There is no single entrance
With the stars to revolve around
There is no real underground

There is not single entrance
There’s no stars to revolve around
There is no real underground
You’re a slave to it all, now.

Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy.

Back In N Y C

(Genesis)

I see faces and traces of home
Back in New York City
So you think I'm a tough kid
Is that what you heard
Well I like to see some action
And it gets into my blood
Let me out of Pontiac
When I was just seventeen
I had to get it out of me
If you know what I mean, what I mean

You say I must be crazy
'Cos I don't care who I hit, who I hit
'Cause I know it's me that's hitting out
And I'm not full of shit
Down by my bottle
Filled up high with gasoline
You can tell by the night fires
Where Rael has been, has been

As I cuddled the porcupine
He said I had none to blame, but me
Held my heart, deep in hair
Time to shave, shave it off, it off
No time for romantic escape
When your fluffy heart is ready for rape. No!
No time for romantic escape
When your fluffy heart is ready for rape
Off we go, off we go, off we go

You're sitting in your comfort
You don't believe I'm real
You never buy protection
From the way that I feel

Your progressive hypocrites
Hand out their trash
It was mine in the first place
So I'll burn it to ash

And I've taken all the strongest meats
And laid them down in colored sheets
Laid them down in colored sheets

Who needs illusion
Of love and affection
When you're out walking in the streets
With your mainline connection, connection.

As I cuddle the porcupine
He said I had none to blame, but me.
Held my heart, deep in hair.
Time to shave, shave it off, it off.
No time for romantic escape,
When your fluffy heart is ready for rape. No!
No time for romantic escape,
When your fluffy heart is ready for rape. No!
No time for romantic escape,
When your fluffy heart is ready for rape.
No time
Back in New York City

Gunshot Glitter

Don't you wanna let go of your heart
Or you resist the beds of bliss
Fortune makes fools of us all
My dear materialista, silence was insane,
The parting was mutual.
Don't you want the rocket to rock out?
There's room for us both to fly.
Tell the man I'm never coming back again.
Tell the man I'm never coming back again.
Why should you notice at all?
Gone again beside you will fall
Down to the sea out of the skies
Of gold cards and casual tears
I have only come to see you shine
Feminine smiles the right side is wise, more than I.
I wanna be your lover,
Lipstick my name across your mirror.
Blood red with flaked gunshot glitter
And be one with all you disowned in your young life.
You paranoia politician diva.
You paranoia politician diva.

Will you let go of your heart,
Left behind a hypnotizing swirl
The semi's left behind.

Don't you want to rocket to rock?
There's room for both of us to fly
Same show everyday, don't have to blow up in the sky.
So I just came from Hicks town,
Left my coins behind
Maybe some poor cloths pony will himself a life
Why should you care if I crash your affair?
Why should you notice me? I really wanna see you shine.

I wanna be your lover,
Lipstick my name across your mirror.
Now, be one with all you disown,
True love has come to us all.
Blinded by the flame, right side smiles,
Organized male, love, my silence was insane.
The parting was mutual the moment I became
A paranoia politician
diva
A paranoia politician diva
A paranoia politician diva
A paranoia politician diva
Diva, diva, diva

Demon John

Say farewell
G’night, Sonny-Jim
In your defenseless
Winning smile
What do you hope to win?
And bliss face down, defended

Well, now stoned Demon John
There’s no town the boy cannot belong
Why did you come here?
Is it to excavate all your sins?
Boil within?
Slaughter like the daughter of the devil you send me
I have to deal, you called me here

You couldn’t say that you were juiced
The night that you were introduced
To Demon John
Gonna take him with you when you go?
Dance down slow
Oh, way down

You cannot escape the bar-side angel dissector
You undo your life with too much cocoon
Who’s your protector?
Dark is the city where the white girls walk by
Down below your eyes, just like fireflies
You call me here, come on here, follow me dear
Past cascades of rage and fear
You called me here

You couldn’t say that you had been juiced
The time that you were introduced
To Demon John
Well, you knew you had to want to go
Dance down slow
By the light of the sun
Murder comes
Today or tonight
Better get yourself together
And transcend it, a burst of light
Blaze stars into me
While the love breaks through here and now
So, murder by the light of the sun

Please, don’t get too close to me
You said you are for real, it’s not pretend
All memories stolen, know this for yourself
How would you like to be the happiest man in the world?
Behind the weathered field hands
Whose blistered paws Harvest cut
For wedding clothes they’ll never wear
Marching down a road that was never there
It takes place on a sunlit lace and the backbone broken
Please bring us light
Demon John
You Demon John
Take him with you
When you go.

Your flesh is so nice

I want to tell you a story
About a little cutey
She's ass-slappin' pretty
And voluptuous fingers
Wanna let her lick me
Stick the thick of my pussy
And as I cross the street
She looks good enough to eat me

Kitty!
Your flesh is so
Your flesh is nice
Your flesh is nice
Let me take a bite
Flesh is so nice

Oh, I take off my belt
Oh, I whip the staircase
Whip the staircase
Oh, kill all the men
Everything's dead to them
You're the only one I follow
Come on and let me give you that "O"

Flesh is nice
Your flesh is so
I wanna take you twice
Your flesh is nice
Your flesh is so
Your flesh is nice

Your flesh is nice
Wanna take a bite
Your flesh is so (x13)
Your flesh is so nice (x9)
Your flesh is so (x3)
Your flesh is nice
Your flesh is so
Your flesh is nice
Your flesh is so
Your flesh is nice (x4)

Jewel Box

I know you’re a woman
By the way you burn below
I’ll tell you secrets so good
You’ll never tell a soul
Come closer, that bonfire holds his life like stones
My years, my life unknown

Diamonds from the pavement
Where a broken glass had been
Just like these troubles that I’m leaving to the wind
Like sapphires in boxcars speeding towards the end
Like thieves, my bad luck grows

Jewel box of sadness
Bring to catch your tear
Crystalize illusion shine forgot I’m here
Jewel box of sadness
Bring to catch your tear
Oh, you left some stars in my belly

Star crossed child’s love on the bands of wedding gold
Silver studs of promise hide in the red crushed velvet folds
Inaction, intention, like emeralds I stole
My speech of custom gold
I think I ought to know

Jewel box of sadness
Bring to catch your tears
Crystalize illusion shine, forgot I’m here
Jewel box of sadness
Bring to catch your tear
Oh, you left some stars in my belly
You left some stars in my belly
You left some star in my belly.

Satisfied mind

( J.H."Red" Hayes/Jack Rhodes )

How many times have you heard someone say
If I had money, I will do things my way
But little they know, that it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind

Money can't buy back all your youth when you're old
A friend when you're lonely, oh peace to your soul
The wealthiest person is a pauper at times
Compared to the man with a satisfied mind

My life is over and my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones
I will leave them no doubt
But one things for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world, oh yeah oh yeah, with a satisfied mind
One things for certain, when it comes my time, oh yeah,
I'll leave this old world, oh with a satisfied mind
Mind mind mind mind, satisfied mind

Mystery white boy

Woke up in a strange place

Ghost comes to visit with my keys in his pocket
Kisses in my mouth with his eyes hanging out of his sockets
Memories crumbling under still resistance
I was torn out like pages from the book of existence

I woke up in a strange place
Music so loud that i spilled all my beer
I made a call for a blackened cab
Some destination was moving on in
I remember the words that you told me
Now they come down so hard, so plain
Fate is gonna find your love in a glass of champagne

Love came calling as a counterfeit mistress
Stealing from the pockets of a sadomasochist
And she's mouthing for this place like a tongue on crystal meth
Her cigarette smelling like the fear inside my chest

I woke up in a strange place
My mind a blur and some red on my chin
I made a call for a blackened cab
Some destination was moving on in
Easy now, this car was speeding up
For my last chance crashing to freedom
Fate is gonna find your love in a glass of champagne

Sweat pours down
You're in the back seat sleeping
And she waits by the window
From an empty bed, weeping
The ghost guns the motor
To the promised land he promised you
I guess this is the time when the best intentions become facts again

Well, this is no story for the dislocated
You're gonna love but it turned to be hated
Because the lies of the spirit possessed you
Because the eyes of your lover resist you
Listen now, you keep your aim steady
As your temple turns to kiss the pistol
Fate is gonna find your love
In a glass of champagne

Thank you

What will you say ?

( A.k.a. Such a long time )

It's a song that some of you probably never heard... most of you

It's been such a long time
And I was just a child then
What will you say
When you see my face?
Time feels like it's flown away
The days just pass and fade away
What will you say
When they take my place?

It's funny now
I just don't feel like a man
What will you say
When you see my face?
My face...

Mother dear, the world's gone cold
No one cares about love anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?

Father do you hear me?
Do you know me?
Do you even care?
What will you say
When they take my place?

My heart can't take this anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?
When you see my,
See my face...

I can feel your time crawling
To a slow end
I can feel my time crawling
To a slow end...

Mother dear, the world's gone cold
No one cares about love anymore
What will you say
When you see my face?

Father do you hear me?
Do you know me?
Did you even care?
What will you say
When you take my place?

Well it's so funny now
I just don't feel like I'm a man
What will you say?

Last goodbye

French part :
( Quoi ? qu'est ce que c'est ? / What ? what's this?
Qu'est ce que c'est piaf ? / What is piaf ?
Ah Paris ! Manger beaucoup le fromage ! / Ah Paris ! Eat a lot of cheese !
La la la la la last goodbye... )

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then i'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say "no, this can't happen to me,"
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

Moodswing whiskey

Moodswing whiskey
Drank it all in the trailer
Waiting for the dark to move in
Sitting in my step-sister’s kitchen
Horse flies on the window sill
Eyes trained on the lemon peeler
And wishing it were a gun

I’m thinking of my wedding ring
Trapped inside the heater
Spring water on the floor of this
Sex starved room

Your nightmare falls around me
In waves of bliss
Tried to stop it with my hand
I was lost in a kiss

With you moodswing whiskey
Your bliss
The actress bliss
The assassin bliss
The abyss

Took a crazy shot of whiskey
In about zero to sixty
All i could see was the bill

I was singing through a melody
With a drink in my right hand
Eyes sparkling, aflame and amazed

I said buzz me up to your junkyard paradise
Buzz me up to your junkyard paradise
Baby i need a sweet-ass photo of you

I cheated and i lied and you stung her
Stung my tongue just like
Sweat from her shoulder

Ooh moodswing whiskey
You love the destroyer
Love the destroyer
Love
Yes moodswing whiskey flipped my brain
Only you could break this chain
I need her in my bed again
Yeah yeah oh yeah oh yeah x 4

Yeah going down to the subway station
I’m packing a rod
All unnecessary histories erased
I am a punishing god
Moodswing whiskey
Your prodigal son has returned

This is for all the headless acrobats
Faces crushed in the circus dust
All in the name of gravity
And the price of admission

Beautiful loser what has it left you now
Beautiful loser what has it left you
‘cause you’re beautiful

I think of mankind in quotation marks
Ever since i took a drink of you

The Man That Got Away

(Words by Ira Gershwin, Music by Harold Arlen & Performed by Judy Garland)

Very nice man

The road is bitter,
The stars have lost their glitter;
The winds grow colder
Suddenly you're older
And all because of the man that got away.

No more his eager call
The writing's on the wall
The dreams you dreamed
Have all gone astray

The man that won you
Has run off and undone you.
That great beginning
Has seen the final inning
Don't know what happened
It's all a crazy game
A game

No more that all-time thrill
For you've been through the mill
And never a new love
Will be the same

Good riddance, good-bye
Every trick of his you're on to
But fools will be fools
And where's he gone to?

The road gets rougher
It's lonelier and tougher
With hope you burn up
Tomorrow he might turn up
There's just no letup
The live-long night and day

Ever since this world began
There is nothing sadder than
A one-man woman looking for
The man that got away
The man that got away

Kangaroo

( Originally performed by Alex Chilton & Big Star )

I first saw you
You had on blue jeans
Your eyes couldn't hide
Anything
I saw you leaving, oh

I saw you staring out in space

I next saw you
You were at the party
Thought you was a queen
Oh so flirty

I came against

Didn't say excuse
Knew what i was doing
We looked very fine
As we were leaving
As we were making
What we were making

Saint joan
Doing a cool jerk, hey
Oh, i want you
Like a kangaroo
Yes yes yes yes, oh oh ...

Sydney

Hallelujah / I know it's over

I heard there was a secret chord
That david played and it pleased the lord
But you don't really care for music, do you
Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Hallelujah...

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah...

Baby i've been here before
I've seen this room and i've walked this floor
I used to live alone before i knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah...

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do you?
But remember when i moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Oh mother, i can feel the soil falling over my head
And as i climb into an empty bed - oh well, enough said
I know it's over still i cling, i don't know where else i can go, over and over...
Oh mother, i can feel the soil falling over my head
See the sea it wants to take me, the knife wants to slit (cut) me
Do you think you can help me?

Sad veiled bride please be happy - handsome groom give her room
Loud loutish lover treat her kindly though she needs you
More than she loves you - and i know it's over - still i cling
I don't know where else i can go - over and over.....
Oh mother, i can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh mother, i can feel the soil falling over my head

Well, maybe there's a god above
But all i've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
It's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah...

That's all I ask

( By Horace Ott & Performed by Nina Simone )

This is another nina Simone song

Don't try to blow out the sun for me baby
I'm not hope for what I know can't be
All that I ask is for a kiss each day
And I'll give you love that'll never go away
Yes I will yes I will yes I will
This girl I wouldn't ask you to lift up this great
Big world little baby
I know that you're not that kind of a girl

All that I ask
Is for a kiss or two
And nothing in this world will be too good for you

Nobody nobody nobody nobody nobody
Nobody knows
How deep my love for you really goes

Never mind now in your heart how much is owed...

Cause girl I want you to know
I wouldn't ask you to hold back the dawn, madame George, baby
That's just a little too much to ask to anyone

All that I ask
 is for your loving ways
And I'll keep you happy
for the rest of your natural born days

Never mind now in your heart how much is owed...

Songs for no one

Hymne à l'amour

(M. Monnot/E. Piaf with English lyrics by G. Parsons)

If the sun should tumble from the sky
If the see should suddenly run dry
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I don't care

Shall I catch a shooting star
Shall I bring it where you are
If you want me to, I will.
You can set me any task
I'll do anything you ask
If you'll only love me still

When at last, our life on earth is through
I will spend eternity with you
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I won't care

How long will it take

Stood along this lonely track
Watching the trains speed along
Weep, oh willow weep
Let me hear your song
So that my soul can be filled with joy

My heart and I
So alone in the fright I bear, so I asked
"How long, how long will it take me to be your man again?"
Tell me Mama
"Oh How long, how long will it take me to be your man again?"

As I try my best not to sigh
I still feel the tears on my face
I'm hated by you, you're loved by me
Though I can't take it, I will try not to break it

My heart and I
So alone in the fright I bear, so I asked
"How long, how long will it take me to be your man again?"
Oh tell me now
"How long, how long will it take me to be your man again?"

As I try my best not to sigh
I still feel the tears on my face
I'm hated by you, you're loved by me
Though I can't take it, I will try not to break it

My heart and I
So alone in the fright I bear, so I asked
"How long, how long will it take me to be your man again?"
Tell me sister

How long will it take me, will it take me
Oh so alone in the fright I bear, so I asked
How long will it take me, will it take me to be your man again?"
Will it take me to be your man again

Songs To No One

Back when I was a baby, a baby saying his prayers,
prayers soft and lonely, lonely all these days,
days that meld into nothing, and nothing left for a boy
but to hide his dreams away, hide all his dreams away

Daisies after daisies, a daisy for your floor
Ah days that melt into nothing
A promise piled to the door,
door the door was open
There's nothing left for a boy but to hide these dreams away
…All those dreams decay

Laura…know this song for always
Laura…show this song to no one

I had to fight for these moments, sweet moments of mine
Each line must blossom and die but my song comes strong in time
Nothing left for a boy, nothing left for a boy
But to hide those dreams away, all those dreams decay

Laura…know this song for always
Laura…show this song to no one

Oh I had to fight for these moments, these sweet moments of mine
Each line must blossom , but my song comes strong in time
Although the door was open, there's nothing left for you now
But to hide your dreams away till they come into play

Laura…know this song for always
Laura…show this song to no one
Laura…know this song for always
Laura...Laura…show this song to no one
Show this song to no one

Cruel

Oh Yeah
Born no longer just a baby
Always trying to keep in one place for long, oh long enough to sleep
Oh sleep and dreams are here the same
??? got no rest they'll no longer speak to you

Moving on again
I'm moving... moving on again
Well i'm moving... moving on again
Baby... you're so cruel

You're cruel to yourself, so you never understand
Boy'l never do ya no harm,
For you to build the frame of the bed you sleep upon
So spill your milk and honey, get your kicks off your next man.
Bigger than you think and make him go, go on.

Make him move on, moving on again
Oh he's moving... moving on again
Baby, you're so cruel

They thought about the dream is so real now
These are dreams of mine
You're so aimless, so aimless
You baby, you're so cruel
You're so cruel

Wonder what your gonna think of yourself when the phone calls fade away
As you hold his shoulders
Did you think it would come to this day?
Ask yourself why he's off when others surround you
He was one of many on the day he found you

Uh huh, you're moving, moving again,
Yeah, you're moving, moving on again
Yeah, you're moving, moving on again

Baby, you're so cruel

She Is Free

Cold wind blow this waiting blood
Flow into my ashen arms
Ice stream prick my sleeping skin

She is like the so black time
Race on in and never go away
She's just like the wind

Black car with your creaking wheel
Take away these thoughts of mine

Once there was a crazy man
Staring from his drunken eyes
Staring stony into her elbow's way
Stared at me and tellin' me
'stead of 'oh poor lonely me
I claw the bed and I claw my hair

Oh black car with your creaking wheel
Take away these thoughts ofmine
Pictures sing in rhythm with 'em
Dig the holes for me to sleep inside

She is free
A shadow crossing the sky
Free from hope and this misery
She's beautiful, so beautiful away from me
She is free
She is free

Instead of me is this creaking wheel
Take away these thoughts of mine
Pictures sing in rhythm with 'em
Dig the holes for me to sleep inside

Black car with your creaking wheel
Take away these thoughts of mine
Catch us sing in rhythm with 'em
Dig both holes for me to sleep inside

She is free
Shadow crossing the sky
Free from hope and this misery
So beautiful away from me
She is free
She is free

Harem Man

Alright alright alright alright woah!
Well yeah
Well I'm your harem man I was paid two by two
Well I'm your harem man I will sing and dance for you
Oh Baby say it

Well well
Lay your hails down 'till they race over me
Oh sweet pussy cat race your hails all over me
Oh you're so sweet, your pussy cat i'm gonna show you where it's at
Why don't you think I can ?? free
I wanna be your fire when it's cold
It's raining outside mama don't wait until you get too old
Take home a liter and push it in me
I wanna inject you in my blood
I wanna set you free

Well well

My world my world... my love

I wanna be your harem man
Oh baby save you do anything I can
I'll keep you waiting in a room of my own
A man can't be free until he's older
My my my ... woman, man

I wanna be your harem man

I wish I was your 45 dollar bill
Spend all your money pay all your thrills
I wish I could be your walking shoes, step all over me
And take away my blues

My world my love

I wish I was you

Malign Fiesta (No soul)

You got your 24 Swastika tattoo yesterday
You got ????? away
You got your 24 karat gold pierced earning in your nose
Twenty four years and you still don't know which way the wind blows

You got no, you got no

You know when ??? disease ??? violence
??? wish away your parents
You got yourself a girl wth the face and the voice of a whore
You don't want a phone
But you don't know what you kill yourself for anymore

You got no, you got no You got no, you got no

You're no soul rebel if you rip on your skin
You're no soul rebel with your boot in your skin
You're no soul rebel it's your own chance to fight
You're just the same as those fat old bastards you hate with no soul

You call yourself a rebel but you call that man a nigger like they do
You call yourself a rebel but a woman ??? like they do

You got no room, no soul, no out, no phone
So whadya got? a God to pray you

You got no, you got no You got no

You're no soul rebel if you spit on your sister
You're no soul rebel with your boot on yourskin
You're no soul rebel it's your last chance to fight
You're the same as those fat old bastards you hate with no

You call yourself a rebel but you call that man a nigger like they do
You call yourself a rebel but your woman down like they do
You call yourself a rebel but you rape, scheme and lie like they do
You got no woman, no song, no drome
So what have you got, a God to pray you

You got no, you got no You got no

You're no soul rebel if you rip on your skin
You're no soul rebel with your boot in your skin
You're no soul rebel it's your own chance to fight
You're just the same as those fat old bastards you hate with no

You got no, you got no You got no

Be my husband

( Written by A. Stroud / Nina Simone Cover )

Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Loving all of you the rest of your life

Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Loving all of you the rest of your life

If you promise me I’ll be your man
If you promise me I’ll be your man
If you promise me I’ll be your man
I will love you the best I can

Stick to the promise that you made me
Stick to the promise that you made me
Stick to the promise that you made me
And stay away from Johnny Lee

Oh mama love me good
Oh mama love me good
Oh mama love me good
Oh mama mama love me good

If you want me to I’ll cook and sew
If you want me to I’ll cook and sew
If you want me to I’ll cook and sew
Outside of you there is no place to go

Don't you treat me so doggone mean
Don't you treat me so doggone mean
Don't you treat me so doggone mean
You're the meanest man I’ve ever seen

Oh mama love me good
Oh mama-ma love me good
Oh mama love me good
Oh mama mama mama love me good
Oh mama

(And i'll) be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Be your husband if you'll be my wife
Loving all of you the rest of your life

Lover, You Should’ve Come Over

Looking out the door,
I see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners.
Parading in a wake of sad relations ,
As their shoes fill up with water.

Maybe I'm too young,
To keep good love from going wrong.
But tonight, you are on my mind so.
You’ll never know… you never know

Every inch of me is full of pain.
Oh, you should’ve come over.
My broken bones can smell the rain,
And they’re aching to recover.

And the rain, I wanna come down fast,
Like kisses on my skin.
But it passed me by,
And it left me dry.

Oh lover, you should’ve come over.

Broken down and hungry for your love,
With no way to feed it.
Where are you tonight?
Child, you know how much I need you.
Too young to hold on,
And too old to break free and run.
Oh, too old to run.

Oh, oh, lover, you should’ve come over.
Well, I wait, And I burn.
Will I ever see your return?
Oh lover, you should’ve come over.

Lonely is the room the bed is made,
Open window lets the rain in.
Burning in the corner is the only one ,
Who wants you with him.
My body turns and yearns for sleep,
That will never come.
It's never over,
My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder.
It's never over,
All my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her.
It's never over,
All my blood for the memories and the sweetness of her laughter.
It's never over,
She's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever.

Oh, maybe I'm too young,
To keep good love from going wrong.
Oh, lover you should've come over.

Will I wait? Will I burn?
Will I see your return?
Oh lover, you should’ve come over, over, over.

Mojo Pin

Well i'm lying in my bed
The blanket is warm
This body will never be safe from harm
Still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
Touch my skin to keep me whole

If only you'd come back to me
If you laid at my side
I wouldn't need no Mojo Pin to keep me satisfied

Don't wanna weep for you, I don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so

Precious, precious silver and gold and pearls in oyster's flesh
Drop down we two to serve and pray to love
Born again from the rhythm screaming down from heaven
Ageless, ageless
I'm there in your arms

Don't wanna weep for you, I don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so
So, so...

The welts of your scorn, my love, give me more
Send whips of opinion down my back, give me more
Well it's you I've waited my life to see
It's you I've searched so hard for...

Don't wanna weep for you, I don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so
So, black black black black beauty...

Grace

This is a song about a
It's about another dream but
It's about not feeling
So bad about your own mortality
When you have true love

There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it's my time coming, i'm not afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love
But she cries to the clicking of time
Of time

Wait in the fire...

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh my love

And the rain is falling and I believe
My time has come
It reminds me of the pain
I might leave
Leave behind

Wait in the fire...

And I feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
I'm not afraid to go but it goes so slow

Strange Fruit

( Written by Lewis Allen, Performed by Billie Holiday )

Southern trees
Bear strange fruit
Blood on the leaves
And blood at the root
Oh black bodies swinging
In the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging
From the poplar trees

Pastoral scene
Of the gallant south
Oh the bulging eyes
And the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolias
Sweet and fresh
And then the sudden smell
Of burning flesh

Now here is fruit
For the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather
For the wind to suck
For the sun to rot
For the trees to drop
Now here is your strange
And bitter crop
Strange fruit

Night flight

( Led Zeppelin Cover )

Well well well well...
Oh baby oh babe oh babe...
Now listen I'll tell you a story about
How I received a message from my brother across the water
He sat laughing as he wrote the end's in sight
So I said goodbye to all my friends
And packed my hopes inside a matchbox
'Cause I know it's time to fly

Oh yeah come on, come on now meet me in the morning
Meet me in the middle of the night
Oh the morning light is coming
Don't it make you wanna go and feel alright
Oh yeah

Well well well well...
I just jumped a train that never stops
So now I said I’ll know I never finished paying for my ride
Someone pushed a gun into my hand
Tell me I’m the type of man to fight the fight that I’ll require

Oh yeah come on, come on now won't you meet me in the morning
Won't you meet me in the middle of the night, night yeah
Oh everybody said the morning light is coming
Don't it make you wanna go and feel alright
Feel alright

Well, mama, well I think it's time I’m leaving
Nothing here to make me stay
Well, well, well, well it must be time I’m going
They're knocking down them doors
They're trying to take me away

Please Mr. Brakeman, won't you ring your bell
Oh gonna make ring loud and clear
Please Mr. Fireman, won't you be my friend
Tell the people they got to fly away from here

I once saw a picture of a lady with a baby
Southern lady, had a very, very special smile
We are in the middle of a change in destination
When the train stops, all together we will smile

Oh yeah come on, come on now meet me in the morning
Meet me in the middle of the night
Oh everybody said the morning light is coming
Don't it make, don't it make you feel alright
Make make make you feel alright
Oh make you feel alright
Alright
Make you feel alright
Alright, alright, alright, alright
Alright alright alright alright alright alright...
Alright people
Make you feel
Make you feel
Oh oh oh oh yeah !

If You Knew

( Nina Simone )

If you knew how I miss you,
You would not stay away today.
Don’t you know how I need you?
Stay here, my dear, with me.

I need you here beside me,
Forever and a day, a day.
Together, never parted,
Just you, just me, my love.

I can’t go on without you.
Your love is all I’m living for.
I love all things about you.
Your heart, your soul, my love.

I can’t go on without you,
Forever and a day, a day.
I need you here beside me,
Forever and a day, a day.
And no one else betides me.
I love you, I love you, I do.
I do.

Twelfth of Never

( Paul Francis Webster, Jerry Livingston / Nina Simone Cover )

You ask how long I'll love you
I'll tell you true
Until the Twelfth of never
I'll still be loving you

Hold me close
Never let me go
Hold, oh hold me close
I love my heart like April snow

I'll love you 'til the bluebells
Forget to bloom
And I'm gonna love you
'Till the roses run out of perfume
And baby I'm gonna love you
'Till the poets run out of things to rhyme, oh yeah

Until the twelfth of never
And that's a long long time

Monologue - Eternal Life

This is a song about...
It's an angry song
Life's too short and too complicated for people behind desks
And people behind masks to be ruining other peoples lives
Initiating force against other peoples lives
On the basis of their income, their colour, their class, their religious beliefs, their whatever...

Eternal Life

Eternal Life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin, man, just need one last nail
While all these ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
There's a flaming red horizon that screams our names
And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road
Would pave the way for you
You better turn around
And blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel

Racist everyman, what have you done
Man, you've made a killer of your unborn son...
Crown my fear your king at the point of a gun
All I want to do is love everyone...

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road
Wwould pave the way for you
You better turn around
Aand blow your kiss hello to life eternal

Oh...

There's no time for hatred, only questions
Where is love, where is happiness
What is Life, where is peace

When will I find the strength to bring me release
And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said
Man, it sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And I've got a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye
To life eternal angel...
Angel...

Just Like A Woman

( Originally performed by Bob Dylan )

No, no, no, no, no...
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls
Oh, she takes just like a woman
Oh, and she makes love just like a woman
Oh, then she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Oh, Queen Mary, she's my friend
But I believe i'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That the Baby can't be blessed
’Till she finally sees that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamines, and her pearls
Oh, she takes just like a woman, yes, and
She makes love just like a woman
Oh, then she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Well, it was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is all this pain in here
Well, I can't stay in here, oh baby
Ain't it clear that I just can't fit
I believe it's time for us to quit
If we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don't you let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world
Oh, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
And you make love just like a woman
And you, you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl

But you break just like a little girl

Calling You

( Bob Telson/Jevetta Steele )

It's been a while since I played this song

A desert road from Vegas to nowhere
Some place better than where you've been
A coffee machine that needs some fixing
In a little café just around the bend

I am calling you
Can't you hear me
I am calling you

A hot dry wind blows right through me
The baby's crying and I can't sleep
But we all know a change is coming
Coming closer sweet release

I am calling you
I know you hear me
I am calling you, oh
Oh yes yes yes

I am calling you
I am calling you

A desert road from Vegas to nowhere
Some place better than where you've been
A coffee machine that needs some fixing
In a little café just around the bend

A hot dry wind blows right through me
The baby's crying and I can't sleep
But we all know a change is coming
Coming closer sweet release, sweet release

I am calling you
I am calling you
I am calling you
I am calling you

Yeh jo halka halk saroor hai

( written by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan )

Saqi ki har nigah pay bal kha k p gaya
Lehroon say khailta hoa lehra k p gaya
Ey rehmat-e-tamaam meri har khata muaf
Mein intiha-e-shouq (mein) say ghabra k p gaya

Peta baghair izm yeah kab thi meri majaal
Dar pardah chashm-e-yaar ki shay pa k p gaya

Paas rehta hai duur rehta hai
Koi dil mein zaroor rehta hai
Jab say dekha hai un ki aankhon ko
Halka halka suroor rehta hai

Aisay rehtay hein koi mere dil mein
Jaisay zulmat mein noor rehta hai
Ub adam ka yeah haal hai har waqt
Mast rehta hai chuur rehta hai

Yeah joh halka halka saroor hai
Yeah teri nazar ka qasoor hai
K sharab peena sikha diya
Tairay pyar nai, teri chaah nai
Teri behki behki nigaah nai
Mujhay ik sharabi bana diya…

Sharab kaisi (what drink), khumaar kaisa (what elevation)
Yeah sub tumhari nawazishein hein (it is all your gift)
Pilai hai kiss nazar say tu nai (how i have been made into an addict)
K mujhko apni khabar nahi hai (i have no awareness of myself)
Teri behki behki nigah nai (your lost looks)
Mujhe ik sharabi bana dia....

Sara jahan must, jahan ka nizam (system) must
Din must, raat must, saher (morning) must, shaam must
Dil must, sheesha must, sabu (cup of wine) must, jaam must
Hai teri chashm-e-must say her khaas-o-aam (everyone) must

Yoon to saqi her tarah ki tere maikhane mein hai
Woh bhi thori si jo in aankhon k paimane mein hai
Sub samajhta hoon teri ishwa-kari (cleverness) ay saqi
Kaam karti hai nazar naam hai paimane ka.. Bus!
Teri behki behki nigah nai
Mujhe ik sharabi bana diya...

Tera pyar hai meri zindagi (my life is your love)
Tera pyar hai meri bandagi (i am enclosed in your love)
Tera pyar hai bas meri zindagi, tera pyar hai bas meri zindagi
Na namaz aati hai mujhko, na wazoo aata hai
Sajda kar leta hoon, jab saamnay tu aata hai
Bus meri zindagi tera pyar hai....

Mai azal say banda-e-ishq hoon, mujhe zohd-o-kufr ka gham nahin (deep down i am a lover. I am not sad for hereafter-hell)
Mere sir ko dar tera mil gaya, mujhe ab talash-e-haram nahi
Meri bandagi hai wo bandagi, jo muqeed-e-dair-o-haram (bounded to any sacrad place) nahi
Mera ik nazar tumhein dekhna, ba khuda namaz se kam nahi (for me to look at you is no less than namaz)
Bus meri zindagi tera pyar hai...
Bus meri zindagi tera pyar hai...

Tera naam loon zubaan say, tere aagay sir jhuka doon
Mera ishq keh raha hai, mein tujhe khuda bana doon
Tera naam mere lub per, mera tazkara hai dar dar
Mujhay bhool ja'ay dunya, mein agar tujhe bhula doon
Mere dil mein bus rahe hein, tere bepanah jalwe
Na ho jiss mein noor tera, woh charagh hi bujha doon

Jo pucha k kis tarah hoti hai baarish, jabeen (forehead) se paseene ki boondein gira di
Jo pucha k kis tarah girti hai bijli, nigahein milaein mila kar jhuka dein
Jo pucha shab-o-roz milte hain kaise, to chehre pe apne wo zulfein hata deein
Jo pucha k naghmon mein jaadu hai kaisa, to meethe takallum mein baatein suna deein
Jo apni tamanaon ka haal poocha , to jalti howi chand shamein bhujha deein
Main kehta reh gaya khata-e-mohabbat ki achi saza di

Mere dil ki dunya bana kar mita di, acha!
Mere baad kisko satao gay,
Mujhe kis tarah se mitao gay
Kahan ja ke teer chalao gay

Meri dosti ki balaein lo
Mujhe haath utha kar duaein do, tumhein ek qatil bana diya
Mujhe daikho khuwahish-e-jan-e-jaan
Main wohi hoon anwar-e-nim jaan

Tumhain itna hosh tha jub kahan
Na chalao is tarah tum zaban
Karo mera shukriya meherban
Tumhein baat karna sikha diya...

Yeh jo halka halka saroor hai, yeh teri nazar ka kasoor hai
Kay sharab peena sikha diya

At a glance from the cup-bearer
I gulped the whole cup of wine in one draught
And thus got intoxicated.

O'divine mercy pardon my slip from grace
As my eagerness for wine drinking pushed me in committing this error

I could i dare to drink without permission!
It was only a wink from my sweetheart which prompted me to do so.

O'holy man don't scoff at my apparent irreligiosity
I am the one with his knack of chit-chat coaxed the divinity
In granting me permission to drink

Dark clouds are hovering near and bring along the musicians' captivating notes.
Who has spread her hair in the rainy season
Because the breeze is pregnant with sweet fragrance?

Larks dance in the open tunes played by the clouds
As they are bringing along their own playing instruments.

The eyes of my sweetheart are so bewitchingly red
That even the best wine of the tavern pales in comparison.

Being coquettish my sweetheart sometimes comes very near to me
And at other time goes far away
But all the time she is close to my heart.

Since the day my eyes met her lovely ones
I am in perpetual state of slight intoxication.

Her residence in my heart is comparable to a ray of light
Penetrating the pitch of darkness, this state of slight intoxication.
Your love and your bewitching eyes have induced me to become a drunkard.

The whole universe is in a state of drunkenness; the day
The night, the dawn, the dusk, everything is perpetually intoxicated.
Even the wine cup and wine bottle are drunk
And this is all a result of your bashful eyes.

O'lovely cup-bearer although your repository contains all sorts of wines,
But i am only fond of the wine that drips from your drowsy eyes.
This state of slight intoxication.
I don't know how to say prayers nor do i know the rites of ablution.
I just prostrate myself before you whenever i see you
Because your worship and your love is my life.

Right from creation i am the slave of love
And i don't care for belief or disbelief.

My sweetheart, since i have found you
And have become the worshipper at the alter of your love
I don't require a mosque to prostrate myself and say my prayers
This slight state of intoxication.

Even on the day of judgement when i am resurrected the scars of your love
Will be manifest on my body and your picture clinging to my heart.

My extreme love of you has so elevated me spiritually
That who ever i bow my heat it appears as if holy kaaba is in front of me.
It does not behove you to jeer and mock your disappointed lover.

For god sake o'lovely one turn away your alluring eyes
Otherwise i will totally lose control of my heart.

I pray to god that like me you also fall in love with someone
And then having been rebuffed in dejection you also roam about
And lament the loss of your heart.

To fall in love was a joke for me, but it has turned into a serious affair
And now i am getting the punishment.

While i am bewailing the loss of my heart why are you laughing
And making merry? What have you gained out of it?

Raise your hands in prayer for me and be thankful of my friendship
Because it is i who has sharpened your charms
Thus turning you lovely being into a killer.

O'darling of my heart bestow a glance of your lovely eyes at me
I am the same halfdead anwar who as mentor
And guide taught you to display captivating manners
And charm the people with your conversation.

Monologue - I'm A Ridiculous Person

Hallah hallah hallah ouh !
I am a ridiculous person
And you're lucky you've paid no money to see me

If you see her, say hello

 ( Bob Dylan )

If you see her, say hello
She might be in Tangier
She left here last early spring
Is livin' there, I hear
Say for me that I'm all right
Though new things come and go
She might think that I've forgotten her
Don't tell her it isn't so

We had a falling-out, like lovers often will
But to think of how she left that night
It still brings me a chill
And though our separation
Well it chilled me to the heart
She still lives inside of me
We've never been apart

If you're making love to her
Kiss her for the kid
Who always has respected her
For doin' what she did
Oh, I know it had to be that way
It was written in the cards
But the bitter taste still lingers on
It all came down so hard

Well I meet a lot of people
As I make the rounds
And I hear her name here and there
As I go from town to town
And I've never gotten used to it
I've just learned to turn it off
Well either I'm too sensitive
Or else I'm just gettin' soft

 If you see her

Sundown, yellow moon
I replay the past
I know every scene by heart
Cause they all went by so fast
If she's passin' back this way
I'm not that hard to find
Tell her she can look me up
If she's got the time

Tell her she can look me up
If she's got the time

Dink’s Song

( Traditional / Also performed by Bob Dylan )

If I had wings like Noah's dove
I'd fly the river to the one I love
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

If I met your man, and he was long and tall
I’d heave his body like a cannonball
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

Then, one evening, it was drizzling rain
And in my heart I felt an aching pain
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

As you wore, wore your apron low
I’m gonna keep you away from my door
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
And your apron is straight up to your chin
I cross your door but I never come in
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

Oh, the woman I love, I crave to see
She leaves up the country
And I know she won’t write to me
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
Ah, she’s gone, I know she won’t come back
Ah, she took the last nickel out of my saving sack
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

And I went to the mountain
Looked as far as my eye could see
Some other man got my woman, and a lonesome blues got me
Oh yeah, oh yeah, fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

And I found her letter on the old maple tree,
She says “I’m gonna get you
For all the things you did to me.”
Oh yeah, baby, baby, fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

Now, if a man is a cheater
He’s having himself a time
But he’ll never keep his woman
‘Cause he just won’t know his mind
His mind mind mind mind
Fare thee well, my honey, oh yeah

A muddy river runs a muddy mile
But you can't give me money for my unborn child
Child, child, child
Fare thee well, my honey, oh fare thee well

When a woman gets in trouble
Everybody puts her down
Looking for a good friend
And none can be found
Oh yeah, oh yeah, fare thee well

Number nine train
Never done no harm
Number nine train
Take my poor baby home
Fare thee well, oh yeah

Another woman, I love.

I’m the fastest man that I ever saw,
But I mus’ get from Missouri all the way to Arkansas.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, fare thee well, oh yeah.

Although papa's dead
How much will to be
I got no woman
To love and care for me, oh yeah
Oh yeah, fare thee well, my honey,
Oh my honey, fare thee well, fare thee well

Drown in my own tears

(written by Henry Glover)

It brings a tear into my eyes
When I begin to realize
I've cried so much
Since you've been gone
I guess I'm drowning
In my own tears

I sit and cry
Just like a child
My pouring tears
Are running wild
If you don't think
That you'll be home soon
I guess I'll drown
Oh yes, in my own tears

I know it's true
Into each life
Oh little rain, rain must pour
And I'm so blue
Here without you
It keeps raining
More and more

Why can't you please come home
So I won't be all alone
If you don't think that you'll be home soon
I guess I'll drown in my own tears
Drown in my own tears
Drown in my own tears
Come on people
Drown in my own tears
Oh don't let me
Drown in my own tears
Well I get in trouble baby
Drown in my own tears
I guess I'll drown, oh yes, in my own tears, oh...

The Way Young Lovers Do

Oh...

We strolled through fields all wet with rain
And back along the lane again
There in the sunshine
In the sweet summertime
Oh the way that young lovers do

I kissed you on the lips once more
We said goodbye at your front door
There in the nighttime
Love, that's the right time
Oh to feel the way that young lovers do

And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that we were
And the way that we wanted to be
And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
and that you were for me
And then we long to dance the night away
Turned to each other, saying 'I love you, baby I love you'
Oh the way that young lovers do
Lovers do...
Do, do, do, do...

The way young lovers do
Do, do, do, do...

The way young lovers do...

And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that we were and the way
 that we wanted to be
And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
 and you were for me
Oh baby, baby.
And then we long to dance the night away
And turned to each other, saying 'I love you, baby I love you'
Oh the way...

I held her with her looking down
And I kissed her, with the snow falling down
In the street light
It was a sweet light
And the way that young...
Oh, the way that young lovers...
Oh the way that young... that young lovers...
That young lovers do.

Good night

Je n'en connais pas la fin

(R. Asso/M. Monnot / Jeff sings an English translation)

I used to know a little square
So long ago, when I was small
All summer long it had a fair
Wonderful fair with swings and all
I used to love my little fair
And at the close of everyday

I could be found, dancing around
A merry-go-round that used to play...

"Ah, mon amour
 A toi toujours
 Dans tes grands yeux
 Rien que nous deux"

All summer long my little fair
Made everyday like a holiday
Night after night it used to play
And people came there from so far away
And everyone sang that little tune
All around town you heard it played

Even Pepi from Napoli
He sang to Marie
This serenade...

"Ah, mon amour
 A toi toujours
 Dans tes grands yeux
 Rien que nous deux"

All summer long my little fair
Made everyday like a holiday
Night after night it used to play
And people came there from so far away
And everyone sang that little tune
All around town you heard it played

Even Pepi from Napoli
He sang to Marie
This serenade...

"Ah, mon amour
 A toi toujours
 Dans tes grands yeux
 Rien que nous deux"

I can't forget my little square
Even though I'm so far away
I can't forget my little fair
Maybe it's still there, still there today
I sometimes hear that little tune
playing in a dream of long ago

And in my brain runs the refrain
That old French refrain I used to know...

"Ah, mon amour
 A toi toujours
 Dans tes grands yeux
 Rien que nous deux"

I Shall Be Released

( Originally performed by Bob Dylan )

They say everything can be replaced,
Yet every distance is not near.
So I remember every face,
Of every man that put me here.

I see my light come shining,
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

They say every man needs protection,
They say that every man must fall.
Yet I swear I see my reflection,
Somewhere so high above this wall.

Sing,
I see my light come shining,
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any way now,
I shall be released.

There standing next to me in this lonely crowd,
Is a man who swears he's not to blame.
All day long I hear his voice shouting so loud,
Crying out he has been framed.

I see my light come shining,
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any way now,
I shall be released.

Everybody sing with me.

I see my light come shining,
From b’da west to east,
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

Sweet Thing

( Van Morrison / Live 92 & 96 )

And I will stroll the merry way
And jump the hedges first
And I will drink the clear
Clean water for to quench my thirst
And I shall watch the ferry-boats
And they'll get high
On a bluer ocean
Against tomorrow's sky
And I will never ever grow so old again
And I will walk and talk
In gardens all misty and wet with rain

Oh sweet thing, sweet thing
My, my, my, my, my sweet thing

And I would drive my chariot
Down your streets and cry
Well, it's me, I'm dynamite
And I don't know why
And you hold me so strong in your arms again
Pretty babe
I will not remember that I ever felt the pain
And I will walk and talk
In gardens all misty and wet with rain
And I will never ever grow so old again

Oh sweet thing, oh oh
Oh my my sweet thing
Sweet thing...

And I will raise my hand up
Into the night time sky
And count the stars
That's shining in your eye
Just to dig it all and not to question well that's just fine
Just to dig it all and never wonder well that’s just fine
And I will be satisfied not to read in between the lines

And we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
You know we will, someday
And we, you and me, walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
Oh you and me, we will walk
And talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we will walk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we shall walk in gardens all misty wet with rain
Oh we shall walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And we will never, ever grow so old again
Oh sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Sweet thing, and you know we will
Oh you know we will

Remember the day when I held you hand
The look in my eyes only you can understand
Remember when we held each other soft and low
How nothing could ever be that strong

Sleep tonight with dreams as sweet as angel's wings
And all your dreams will bring you sweeter things
Sweet sweet sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Don’t, don’t, don’t you cry, oh no no no
Come here and let me tell you
Let me tell you how much I love you
Oh sweet thing, oh sweet thing
Oh sweet thing, oh sweet thing

You know we will walk and talk in gardens all misty wet with rain
And will never grow so old again
Oh sweet thing, sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet
Sweet sweet thing, sweet thing, sweet thing
Oh my sweet thing

You & I

Just like a woman

( Bob Dylan )

No
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no...
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls

She takes just like a woman, yes
She makes love just like a woman
Oh, and she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
Copy paste is for losers
 Queen Mary, she's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That Baby can't be blessed
Till she sees finally that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls

She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman
Yes she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

It was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is that this pain in here
I can't stay in here
Ain't it clear that I just can't fit
Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit
When we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don't you let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world

Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
And you make love just like a woman
And then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl

She breaks just like a little girl

Everyday people

( Sly and the Family Stone )

Sometimes I'm right, othersI'm wrong
My own beliefs are in my song
The butcher, the banker, the drummer and then
Makes no difference what the group I'm in

But I am everyday people, yeah yeah

There is a blue one that won't accept the green one
For living with a fat one trying to be a skinny one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on, and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee
Oh sha sha, we got to live together

I am no better and neither are you
We are the same whatever we do
You love me, you hate me, you know me and then
You can't figure out the bag l'm in
Copy paste is for losers
I am everyday people, yeah yeah

There is a long hair that doesn't like the short hair
For being such a rich one that will not help the poor one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee
Oh sha sha, we got to live together

There is a yellow one that won't accept the black one
That won't accept the red one that won't accept the white one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on, and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee
Oh sha sha, I am everyday people, yeah yeah

We got to live together, yeah yeah

Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Cryin’

(Louis Jordan)

When the moon goes down in the dawn
And the sun comes up in the morning
Don't let the sun catch you crying
'Cause daddy don't want you no more
Copy paste is for loser
Don't let the sun catch you crying
Crying at my front door
Hey, you done your daddy dirty
He sure don't want you no more

Don't let the sun catch you lying
Lying at my front door
Your daddy's done turned salty
Baby, you made him sore

You can cry, cry, cry
Yes, baby, you can wail
Beat your head on the pavement
Till the man comes and throws you in jail

But don't let the sun catch you crying
Crying at my front door
You done your daddy dirty
He sure don't want you no more

You can cry, cry, cry
Yes, baby, you can wail
Beat your head on the pavement
Till the man comes and throws you in jail

But don't let the sun catch you crying
Crying at my front door
You done daddy dirty
He sure don't want you no more

When the moon goes down in the dawn
And the sun comes up in the morning
Don't let the sun catch you crying
'Cause daddy don't want you no more

I just like that song
I don't know who wrote that
But you know
It's uh, "Don't let the sun cacth you crying"
Everybody sings it
Louis Jordan, Ray Charles
All those people

Grace

There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Oh it's my time coming, I'm not afraid, afraid to die
My fading voice sings of love
But she cries to the clicking of time, oh

Wait in the fire, wait in the fire
Wait in the fire, wait in the fire, fire

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh, my love

And the rain is falling and I believe
My time has come
It reminds me of the pain
I might leave
Leave behind
Copy paste is for losers
Wait in the fire, wait in the fire
Wait in the fire, wait in the fire, fire

And I feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
I'm not afraid to go but it goes so slow

Wait in the fire, wait in the fire
Wait in the fire, oh

Wait in the fire, wait
Wait in the fire, wait in the fire, oh

Calling You

( Bob Telson/Jevetta Steele )

A desert road from Vegas to nowhere
Some place better than where you've been
A coffee machine that needs some fixing
In a little café just around the bend

I'm calling you
Can't you hear me
I'm calling you

A hot dry wind blows right through me
The baby's crying and I can't sleep
But we all know a change is coming
Oh, coming closer sweet release

I'm calling you
I know you hear me
I'm calling you, oh

I'm calling you
I'm calling you

A desert road from Vegas to nowhere
Some place better than where you've been
A coffee machine that needs some fixing
In a little café just around the bend
Copy paste is for losers
A hot dry wind blows right through me
Your baby's crying, I can't sleep
Oh, but we all, we all, we all know a change is coming
Coming closer sweet release, sweet release, sweet

I'm calling you
I know, I know you hear me
I'm calling you

Dream of You and I

This is uh, based on some music that I heard in a dream
I saw in a dream. Called, uh..
It's going to be called 'You and I' (ouch)
'Cause that's what the people in the dream were singing

You and I, you and I, you and I
All for you

It's like that..I heard that, the people singing that in a dream.
Yeah and it was a, it was a dream where I was in an, in an auditorium at a college.
And everybody was congregated and singing the same words.
And there was like this you know a bunch of...
This band on stage and they were like sort a spacey deadhead band
With you know like guys in their twenties..like a bunch of grunge guys but kind of playing
This other thing, not like what I'm playing on here on guitar
And the people kept on beating out rhythms on drum sticks
Like this really great rhythm, it wasn't like 7/4 it was really cool space jam
And what it was, it was a song, I dreamed that the song was about, uh
About this guy, uh, or you know the person in this song is singing to his lover supposedly
That uh, that you know, he's completely there's. The lover has forbidden anybody to have contact with hime
The lover has taken away his freedom, taken away his days and nights, taken away, you know, his dreams
Sent away his friends, forbidden him to get close to his parents, all that stuff
And what it was, it was a, it was an AIDS rally and the song was about AIDS
Or about something like that. So every time they, every time that the refrain came around
People would say

You and I, you and I, you and I
Copy paste is for losers
And they'd point to this sign and it says, you know like
It said 'AIDS' with a circle with a slash through it, and they'd go

All for you

And point to the sign. So, that was the dream. I woke up with it
OK, anyway, as long as you got that on the tape I'll remember that

The boy with the thorn in his side

(Words by Morrisey, Music by Johnny Marr / The Smiths)

The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A murderous desire for love, love

How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me
How can they hear me say those words
And still they don't believe me
Copy paste is for losers
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me

The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A plundering desire for love, love, love

How can they see the love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us
And after all this time

They don't want to believe us
And if they dont believe us now
Will they ever believe us
And when you want to live
How do you start
Where do you go
Who do you need to know

Oh, the boy, the boy
A plundering desire for love, love, love
Oh yeah

Poor Boy Long Way From Home

(Traditional blues song, Bukka White cover)

Me and poor boy we were travellin'
Travellin' a long way from home
Me and poor we got forlorn
We got pulled off and fell a'bound

My dear mother she got worried
When we were down on that lil farm
My mother she called that farm
And they told her they hadn't seen felled abound

My dear mother got on the phone
And she called down on that little farm
When my mother talked to the sargeant
He wasn't no have mercy on that bill
Copy paste is for losers
Well the sargeant told my mother
It would take two hundred dollar bills
We didn't have no one
To come-and-go dollar bill

Poor boy he got all worried
Come walking til he was breakin' down (?)
I said "poor boy don't worry
Our ma gonna get us out of prison bound"

Well this sargeant told my mother
He would take two hundred dollar bills
We didn't have no one
To come-and-go dollar bill

Oh my mother she got worried
She couldn't get these two hundred dollar bills
So one sunday morning
My mother she drove to the farm

Well the sargeant met my mother
He met her at the gate
My mother she told the sargeant
She didn't even have no two hundred dollar bills

Well my mother she kneeled down
Mother kneeled down on her knees
Oh my mother pleased the sargeant
Would he please, sir, have some mercy on me

My dear mother she's really cryin'
Told the sargeant that she broke down
He said "please boy promise
You will not hobo on my train"

I said listen my poor boy
Don't be worried and cryin'
Somebody, somebody somewhere
Gonna get us out of prison-bound

Night Flight

(Led Zeppelin cover)

I received a message from my brother across the water
He sat laughing as he wrote the end's in sight
So I said goodbye to all my friends
And packed my hopes inside a matchbox
'Cause I know it's time to fly
Copy paste is for losers
Come on, meet me in the morning
Meet me in the middle of the night
Oh, the morning light is coming
Don't it make you wanna go and feel alright

Oh I just jumped a train that never stops
So now somehow I'll know I never finished paying for my ride
And someone pushed a gun into my hand
Tell me I'm the type of man to fight the fight that I'll require

Oh yeah, oh come on, come on now won't you meet me in the morning
Won't you meet me in the middle of the night, night, night yeah
Oh everybody said the morning light is comin'
Don't it make you wanna go and feel alright, alright, alright

Oh, mama, well I think it's time I'm leaving
Nothing here to make me stay
Well, mama, well it must be time I'm going
They're knockin' down them doors, they're tryin' to take me away

Please Mr. Brakeman, won't you ring your bell
Won't you make it loud and clear
Please Mr. Fireman, won't you ring your bell
Tell the people they got to try to fly away from here

I once saw a picture of a lady with a baby
Southern lady, had a very, very special smile
We are in the middle of a change in destination
When the train stops, all together we will smile

Oh yeah, oh come on, come on now won't you meet me in the morning
Won't you meet me in the middle of the night, night, night yeah
Oh everybody said the morning light is comin'
Don't it make, don't it make you wanna fee-feel alright
Ah, yeah yeah yeah

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-make it feel alright
Alright, alright
Oh, ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-make it feel alright
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah...

Fuck, that pissed me off

I know it's over

(Words by Morrissey, Music by Johnny Marr - Originally performed by The Smiths)

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
Oh well, enough said

I know it's over still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over, over
Copy paste is for losers
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
You see the sea wants to take me
The knife wants to slit me
Do you think you can help me
Sad veiled bride please be happy
Handsome groom give her room
Loud loutish lover treat her kindly though she needs you
More than she loves you

I know it's over, still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over, over

I know it's over
And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real
And she even spoke to me and said

"If you're so funny, why are you on your own tonight?"
"And if you are so clever, why are you on your own tonight?"
"And if you're so very entertaining, why are you on your own tonight?"
"And if you're so very good looking, why do you sleep alone tonight?"

I know
Because tonight is just like any other night
That's why you're on your own tonight
With your triumphs and your charms
While they're in each other's arms
That's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate
It takes strength to be gentle and kind
Over, over, it's over, it's over

It's so easy to laugh it's so easy to hate
It takes guts to be gentle and kind
Over, over

Love is natural and real
But not for you my love, not tonight my love
Love is natural and real
But not for such as you and I my love

Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh yes
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
Oh Mother, I can feel

That's about it, let's go home
That was nice

Alive

( Drugstore / Live at the Mercury Lounge, New York, on December 31 1995 )

I
I feel the time is coming
I
I walk into your eyes
Oh
I don't care if the clock is turning
'Caus i'm going to the other side
You either die
Or you keep on burning alive
And I am burning

I
I walked a long long distance
I
I'm feeling sore inside
Oh
I don't care if the sky is falling
'Cause i'll never get to see the light

You either die
Or you keep on burning alive
And I am burning
And I am burning

All flowers in time bend towards the sun

( Demo with Liz Fraser )

My eyes are a baptism
Oh I am fused
And sing her into my thoughts
Oh phantom elusive thing

Oh all flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
But here is one, here is one

All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
all flowers in time bend towards the sun
i know you say there's no one for you, but here is one

Keep it going in me, wicked traveller
Fading farther from me
With your face in my window glow
Oh When will you weep for me sweet willow

It's okay to be angry
But not to hurt me
Your happiness, yes yes yes
Darling, darling

All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one

All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say there's no one for you, but here is one
But here is one, here is one, here is one

( Live at Selina's, Sydney, on March 1st 1996 )

My eyes are
A baptism
Oh i am fused
And sing her
Into my thoughts
Oh phantom elusive thing

Oh all flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one, here is one, here is one

Aah, ooh...
One that can never be more,
Either, or drunk, with the world at her feet
A sober with no place to go.

Oh all flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one, here is one, here is one

Ah we did go and then we
We can travel on
Fading farther from me
With your face in my window glow
When will you weep for me
Sweet willow

It's ok to be angry
But not to hurt me
Your happiness, yes, yes, yes
Darling, darling,
Oooh...

Oh all flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one
All flowers in time bend towards the sun
I know you say that there's no-one for you
But here is one, here is one, here is one

Alligator wine

( Screamin' Jay Hawkins / Live WFMU "Music Faucet" , Oct 11th  1992 )

Ah ah ah aaaaaaaah!

Take the blood out of an alligator
Take the left eye of a fish, yeah
Take the skin off of a frog, yeah
And mix it up in a dish
Add a cup of grease swamp water
And then countin' one to nine
Spit over your left shoulder
And you got alligator wine
Alligator wine
Your porcupine
Is gonna make you mine
Is gonna make you mine
It'll make your head bald, babe
I say it make your toes freeze
It'll turn your blood into steam - SHHH!
It'll make you cough and sneeze
You gotta scream like an eagle
You gonna roar like a mountain lion
When you finished drinking
Good old alligator wine
Alligator wine
Your porcupine
Is gonna make you mine
Is gonna make you mine
Ah yeah ! Wouh !
Meet me at the stroke of midnight
By the swamp down in the wood
I'm gonna make you love me babe
Like you never thought you could
You gonna drink my magic potion
And your blood shut eye is gonna shine
You'd be scared forever
Oh my alligator wine
Alligator wine
Gonna make you mine
Your porcupine
Is gonna make you mine
Is gonna make you mine
Waouh! uh uh uh !

All Tomorrows Parties

( Velvet Underground Cover / live 92 )

And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
A hand-me-down dress from who knows where
To all tomorrow's parties
And where will she go and what shall she do
When midnight comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
Why silks and linens of yesterday's gowns
To all tomorrow's parties
And what will she do with Thursday's rags When Monday comes around
She'll turn once more to Sunday's clown
And cry behind the door
And what costume shall the poor girl wear
To all tomorrow's parties
For Thursday's child is Sunday's clown
For whom none will go mourning
A blackened shroud, a hand-me-down gown
Of rags and silks, a costume
Fit for one who sits and cries
For all tomorrow's parties

Auld Lang Syne

( Traditional/R. Burns / live at Mercury Lounge, New York, on December 31 1995 )

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary fit
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us briad hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And there's a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak' a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Bluebird Blues

( Traditional / Gods and monsters )

The stone cold loner
And his eye’s amazing
I’m a stone cold loner
As cool as a man could be
I was gigin’ myself
When the love comes down on me

I let my bluebird
Fly on a cage
I sing a song for they’ve never gonna change the world, no
Let her fly away
Oh, let her fly away
I guess some lonesome chap
Who's waiting for you night and day

Bluebird is a liar
She‘ll never love you not for long
Bluebird’s liar !
She never gonna love you long
She don’t love you
But you know your best friend done before

I have an angel
With eyes like the ocean blue
I have an angel
With eyes like the ocean blue

Someday that bluebird
Is gonna fly away back to you

Angel, she’s got a ??
Angel, angel sing a song
The rain is falling
And I believe my time has come

I let my bluebird
Fly on a cage
She‘ll pull , for the night to change or save the world
No, she‘s on bruising storm, angel
She’s on a bruising storm
The rain is falling and I believe my time has come

My bluebird told me
I was a lover babe
Falling a mountain in another  black bird cage
I said why
What was wrong with me
Why why why , what’s wrong with me

What’s you gonna do
Cos’ there’s a black bird picking out you see
Oh oh oh oh

I know you're not that kind of girl
All that I ask is for a kiss or two
And nothing in this world would be too good for you
Coz nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody knows, nobody knows

But girl I want you to know

Curtains

(Music: E. John/Lyrics: B. Taupin / Live at Mercury Lounge in New York on New Year's Eve December 31 1995 )

I used to know this old scarecrow
He was my song
My joy and sorrow
Cast alone between the furrows
Of a field no longer sown by anyone

I held a dandelion
That said the time had come
To leave upon the wind
Not to return
When summer burned the earth again

Oh oh oh, oh oh oh....

Cultivate the freshest flower
This garden ever grew
Beneath these branches
I once wrote such childish words for you

But that's okay
There's treasure children always seek to find
And just like us
You must have had
A once upon a time

Oh oh oh, oh oh oh....

Despite the tears

( Written by Chris Dowd and Jeff Buckley, on The Seedy Arkhestra's CD, Puzzle )

He found a letter from his lover
She said she's never coming home
His things were lying on her doorstep
And his tears, they fell like rain
And in his mind, he knew
He'd love her always

Despite the tears

And in this town where few knew love
He'd spend his nights all alone, crying
And all the love he'd once shared with her
Was gone, long, long, long gone
And he knew a part of him was dying

And in his mind
He knew he'd love her always

Despite the tears

Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry
Lover we tried, we tried, we tried

And in his mind he knew he'd love her always
Despite the tears

Dream Brother

(Live From The Bataclan EP)

There is a child sleeping near his twin
The pictures go wild in a rush of wind
That dark angel he is shuffling in
Watching over them with his black feather wings unfurled

The love you lost with her skin so fair
Is free with the wind in her butterscotch hair
Her green eyes blew goodbyes
With her head in her hands
and your kiss on the lips of another
Dream Brother with your tears scattered round the world.

Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'Cause they're waiting for you like I waited for mine
And nobody ever came...

Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'Cause they're waiting for you like I waited for mine
And nobody ever came...

Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'Cause they're waiting for you like I waited for mine
Nobody ever came
Nobody ever...

I feel afraid and I call your name
I love your voice and your dance insane
I hear your words and I know your pain
With your head in your hands and her kiss on the lips of another
Your eyes to the ground and the world spinning round forever
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over

Ah do you meet the one I love
And smell the one who loves you
Dream brother, dream brother, dream, dream
Dream asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over

Dido's Lament

( H. Purcell / live at Meltdown Festival, London, July 1 1995)

Thy hand, belinda; darkness shades me:
On thy bosom let me rest:
More I would, but death invades me:
Death is now a welcome guest.

When I am laid in earth, may my wrongs create
No trouble in thy breast;
Remember me, but ah! forget my fate.

Edna frau

(J.Buckley/M.Grondahl / Live 96' Tour )

To cross the ocean and to look down
This pipe love is rushing to a city bed
Then wires (?) stream into an open (....)
Take hold of Jude, she's coming down

I made like i didn't tell you
Don't tell it

When will you wash the bodies
Two seven numbers (?) with the happy (....)
Take a leave and join me on the water's (?) edge
I let you (......) i could assist your death

I made like i didn't tell you
When they call me

To get out

Now my sister, you didn't know how

Faith Salons

(Brenda Kahn/Jeff Buckley - From the 1994 Brenda Kahn promotional EP King of Cairo & 1996 Brenda Kahn LP Destination Anywhere)

In the faith salons they do your nails for fifteen dimes a bottle, where
someone in the darkness waits for your arrival.
In the Faith Salons the deals are struck, making heroes out of dust and clay.
The man gives you sixty seconds on the dollar, and walks away.
In the middle of your book of ages you write your dreams down to the letter.
Tired of second chances and singles dances.
Her robes were purple velvet feeling like the king of Cairo.
Prisoners to fools and slaves to paper gods.
In the faith salons....

The books of massacres and natural disasters,
beguiled by belligerence learned from the dancing masters.
The child on the train was a mimic mime of babble.
The mother knitted sweaters that the child would unravel.
In the faith salons....

They have medicines for madness, madness caused by drugs,
something for your headache and a spray to kill the bugs.
You walk the catwalk of polyphony, And your charades of destiny.
To whose myth of creation will you finally fall upon your knees and cry for forgiveness denied.
In the faith salons....

She'd appear like a belligerrent ghost in my dreams,
In my living room, all torn apart and blue,
Where the ribbons flew and the sky tore like a sheet of rain, of dust.
Peace is a distant mirage where the only truth is the path and chance the only landmark in the desert.
Sleeping in doorways. Underneath the falling frescoes, She'd say, It's your pain. In the faith salons....

Farewell Angelina

( Bob Dylan )

Farewell Angelina, The bells of the crown
Are being stolen by bandits, I must follow the sound
The triangle tingles, And the trumpets play slow
Farewell Angelina, The sky is on fire
And I must go.

There's no need for anger
There's no need for blame
There's nothing to prove
Ev'rything's still the same
Just a table standing empty
By the edge of the sea
Farewell Angelina
The sky is trembling
And I must leave.

 The jacks and the queens
Have forsaked the courtyard
Fifty-two gypsies
Now file past the gaurds
In the space where the deuce
And the ace once ran wild
Farewell Angelina
The sky is folding
I'll see you in a while.

 See the cross-eyed pirates sitting
Perched in the sun
Shooting tin cans
With a sawed-off shotgun
And the neighbors they clap
And they cheer with each blast
Farewell Angelina
The sky's changing color
And I must leave fast.

King Kong, little elves
On the rooftops they dance
Valentino-type tangos
While the make-up man's hands
Shut the eyes of the dead
Not to embarrass anyone
Farewell Angelina
The sky is embarassed
And I must be gone.

 The machine guns are roaring
The puppets heave rocks
The fiends nail time bombs
To the hands of the clocks
Call me any name you like
I will never deny it
Farewell Angelina, I must go where it's quiet.

Flutter Girl

(Chris Cornell)

And drinking dust
With eyes of rust
Tonight my tears might stain your wings
So flutter home
'Cause you're better off alone than with me

So hide your face
And tie your lace
And butterflies across your cheek
Forget how soon
You'll become a fool for words when i speak

Flutter girl
You don't want to know what i've lived
You don't want to take what i give
And I give nothing for free

You don't want to know what i've lived
You don't want to take what i give
And i give nothing for free

My hands are rough
My fingers cold
Your heart's so young and so naive
To ever feel
For a moment that i might let you believe...

I'll melt your smile
I'll tear your wings
I'll color everything you see
So flutter home
'Cause you're better off alone than with me

Flutter girl
You don't want to know what i've lived
You don't want to take what i give
'Cause i give nothing for free

And you don't want to know what i've lived
You don't want to take what i give
'Cause i give nothing for free

Flutter girl
You don't want to know what i've lived
You don't want to take what i give
And i give nothing for free

You don't want to know what i've lived
Flutter girl
Flutter girl

Forget Her

While this town is busy sleeping
All the noise has died away
I walk the streets to stop my weeping
'Cause she'll never change her ways

Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart feels so still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
Oh i think i've forgotten her now

Her love is a rose pale and dying
Dropping her petals and man I know
All full of wine, the world before her
Was sober with no place to go

Don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
My heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's somewhere out there now

Oh my tears falling down as i tried to forget
Her love was a joke from the day that we met
All of the words all of her men
All of my pain when i think back to when
Remember her hair as it shone in the sun
It was there on the bed when i knew what she'd done
Tell yourself over and over you won't ever need her again

But don't fool yourself
She was heartache from the moment that you met her
Oh my heart is frozen still
As i try to find the will to forget her somehow
She's out there somewhere now

Oh
She was heartache from the day that i first met her
My heart is frozen still
As I tried to find the will to forget you somehow
'Cause i know you're somewhere out there right now

Sooner or later

Good Morning Little School Girl

(Lightnin' Hopkins / Live at Mountain Stage Radio, West Virginia, with others artists, April 2 1994)

Good mornin' 'lil school girl,
Can I go home, can I go home with you?
Tell your mother and your father,
I'm a little school boy too

Woke up this mornin',
Woke up this mornin',
I didn't know what to,
I didn't know what to do
I didn't have no blues,
Baby, bit I couldn't be satisfied

I'm gettin' me an airplane,
I'm gettin' me an airplane,
Get in my airplane
Gon' fly all oh-oh, gon' fly all over this land
I'm gonna find my little school girl,
Find her in the world somewhere

Good mornin' 'lil school girl,
Good mornin' 'lil school girl
Can I go home with, can I go home with,
Can I go home with you?
Tell your mother and your father,
Johnny little school boy too

Come be my baby, come be my baby,
I buy you a diamond, I buy you a diamond ring
You don't be my little baby,
I ain't gonna buy you a doggone ring

Grace

(Live at Palais Theatre, Melbourne / Grace EP)

There's the moon asking to stay
Long enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it's my time coming, I'm not afraid, afraid to die

My fading voice sings of love
But she cries to the clicking of time,
Wait in the fire...

And she weeps on my arm
Walking to the bright lights in sorrow
Oh drink a bit of wine we both might go tomorrow
Oh my love...

And the rain is falling and I believe my time has come
And it reminds me of the pain I might leave behind
Wait in the fire...

And I feel them drown my name
So easy to know and forget with this kiss
But I'm not afraid to go, baby it's all because of you
But I'm not afraid to go, but it goes so slow, slow
Wait in the fire, wait in the fire
Wait in the fire...

Don't you take it away from me

Hallelujah

(Live From The Bataclan EP)

I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrough ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Well, maybe I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live with Leonard before I knew ya
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
But love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath you drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah

And maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
Well it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Halle...
It's not what you're told
It's not her face
It's not his touch
In the room you both share
Where he's gone when he loved
When your time and your memory fills your dreams
When you're honest and together
Together no more
No more
Hallelujah, until you're nothing
Hallelujah, baby, until she's everywhere
Hallelujah, until together you are somewhere I'd lost
Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

Bonne nuit, bonne nuit, I love you, I love you, We love you, Thank you

Hymne à l'amour

(M. Monnot/E. Piaf with English lyrics by G. Parsons)

If the sun should tumble from the sky
If the sea should suddenly run dry
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I don't care

Shall I catch a shooting star
Shall I bring it where you are
If you want me to, I will.
You can set me any task
I'll do anything you ask
If you'll only love me still

When at last, our life on earth is through
I will spend eternity with you
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I won't care
(Jeff sings parts from two well-known French versions of this song, sometimes in French and sometimes in an English translation.)

Mon amour puisque tu m'aimes
J'irais jusque au bout du monde,
Je me ferais teindre en blonde
Si tu me le demandais
On peut bien rire de moi
Je ferais n'importe quoi
Si tu le me demandais
Nous aurons pour nous l'eternite
dans le bleu de toute l'immensite
Dans le ciel plus de problemes
Dieu reunit ceux qui s'aiment

I against I

( Bad brains / live at KCRW, Man In The Moon, January 1994)

In The quest for the test to fulfill an achievement, everybody's only in it for themselves.
But the fact of the matter is they don''t care to extend a helping hand to anyone else.
So tell me why you had to lie and trie to make me all confused aout the U.S.A.,
When the fact of the matter is you just don't care to comprehend or understand a single word I say.

I don't want to have I go against I....
Oh let me tell you.
And it's the same old story no factual glory.
I against I against I against I.
And I say I don't like it and I know I dont want it..
I against Iagainst I against I.
Almighty watching Almighty watching.
I against I against I against I against I.
And I say I dont like it.
And I know I don't want it.
I against I against I against I.

I said who is gonna tell the youh the truth about eh drugs, mugs bugs, and the police thugs.
About the rotten stinkin rackets and the fantasies around the nation, around the nations.
Oh baby what gonna do I tell you the truth is looking straight at you...
I got a brass continental a 300-Z, two color T.V.S. now video too.
I got a rest home in Jamaica for my fantasy for my family.
Around the nation. Around the nation. What you gonna do?

I Know We Could Be So Happy, Baby

( Full Band Version )

It's been a long time since I ever was your star
Convinced that I am gone because of what you are
But you know it was me
You know it was me

I had a way to tell you that you're in me now
I imagine we're in the pattern of our mind
I pretend that you trust me
I pretend that you trust me

Go on without you
Out of the past we once knew
Some other love becomes you
Whatever else it comes to
I know we could be so happy baby
If we wanted to be

I don't want to lose you
But I can't ask that you stay
We all know that it means a torture anyway
But I think in time you can trust me

All of the dislocation that possessed me and you
Has always had a hold
The war I fight because I love you
Because I loved you

So go on without you
Out of the past we once knew
Some other love becomes you
Whatever else it comes to
I know we could be so happy baby
If we wanted to be
If we wanted
If we wanted
If we wanted

You can be happy
You could grow and learn to forgive
The mistakes of tender souls and everything
They're only living life with one home, one face

Will I have another fairy tale
That I'm crushed in for me and you
Not with you but of you
Not with you but of you

Go on without you
Out of the past we once knew
Some other love becomes you
Whatever else it comes to
I know we could be so happy baby
If we wanted to be
If we wanted

I know we could be so happy baby

I Loves You Porgy

(Ira Gershwin / George Gershwin / D. Heyward - Sing by Nina Simone)

I loves you Porgy
Don't let him take me
Don't let him handle me
And drive me mad
If you can keep me
I like to stay here
With you forever
And I'll be so glad

Someday, he's coming back to call me
He's gonna handle me and hold me so
It's gonna feel like dying, Porgy
Dying dying deep inside me
But when he calls I know I have to go

I loves you Porgy
Don't let him take me
Don't let him handle me
With his hard hand
If you can keep me
I like to stay here
With you forever
Cause I got my man
With you forever
Cause I got my man

In The Cantina

It's so dark in my home
With this world I live alone
Whiskey sour in my sunrise
(...) like a silvereyes
In the cantina
Sun drenched (...)
I'm here sleeping
In my sparkle silver
And now my home is cantina

In her wound/womb sea foam washes
All I love is now ashes
Window show by the shore
Oh my love
I'll find it crying this eve at night
Oh my love

His mother dead
Her brother dead
Daughters and lovers dead to this world
So their home is a cantina

In her wound/womb sea foam washes
When all your love will be ashes
Your crooked door stormy window
Whiskey sour at my nightfall
Oh my love
I'll find it crying this eve at night
Oh my love

Oh to be young and sane
Safe back home
Don't set up around for me
My friends a cantina

*** Thanx a lot to Elise & Dicle for this one ***

I Never Asked To Be Your Mountain

( Tim Buckley / Live at 'Greetings From Tim Buckley', tribute concert at St.Ann's Church, New York, April 26 1991 )

I never asked to be your mountain
I never asked to fly
Remember when you came to me
And told me of his lies
You didn't understand my love
You don't know why I try
And the rain was falling on that day
And damn the reason why

The flying pisces sails for time
Tells me of my child
Wrapped in bitter tales and heartache
He begs for just a smile
O he never asked to be her mountain
He never asked to fly
Through his eye he comes his love
And tells her not to cry

She says, "your scoundrel father flies
With a dancer called a queen
With her stolen cards he plays
And laughs, but never wins"
O the child dreams to be his hands
In the counting of the rain
But only barren breasts he feels
For her milk will never drain

As i die i can't remember
Where i saw the rain
Could it be that her laughter
Drove me down again?
Charming dancer will you stop
Stop and talk to me?
Is there someone else you feel
In your dreams ? you will, you see
In midnight gazes
I've found you far from me
If you lead me on
Please leave me down

O flying flying fish
Please flutter by my door:
Yes you can drink my lies
If first you read my eyes:
Each one is titled
"I'm drowning back to you":
I can't swim your waters
And you can't walk my lands:
I'm sailing all my sins
And i'm climbing all my fears
And soon now i'll fly

O i never asked to be your mountain
I never asked to fly
Remember when you came to me
And told me of his lies
You didn't understand my love
You don't know why i try
And the rain was falling on that day
And that's the reason why

Sweet lover, will you come back
And love me for a while?
Please take my hand
Leave all your fears behind

I've been gone too long
Now i'm home to stay
Please don't leave me
Again this way

Please come home

I Shall Be Released

( Bob Dylan / Live at WFMU, September 6 1992 )

They say everything can be replaced,
Yet every distance is not near.
So i remember every face
Of every man who put me here.

I see my light come shining
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

They say every man needs protection,
They say every man must fall.
Yet i swear i see my reflection
Some place so high above this wall.

I see my light come shining
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

Standing next to me in this lonely crowd,
Is a man who swears he's not to blame.
All day long I hear him shout so loud,
Crying out that he was framed.

I see my light come shining
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.

I want someone badly

Now I want someone badly
Got a girl here tonight
Want someone new
Someone new

A little cry wants someone badly
I wanna know if this is a bad lease on me
(I want to know)
I want to know
Am I sure that I heard you right
I want to know
If you're leaving just do it tonight

Now I want someone badly
To burn in here with me
But listen baby
'Cause I cry all over madly
Don't do anything do it for/with me
Ooh I wanna know
Am I sure that I have your love
I want know
If you're leaving just make sure it's right
Now I want someone badly
Could it be true
That someone is you

Je n'en connais pas la fin / Hymne à l'amour

(Medley Piaf / Live From The Bataclan EP)

I used to know a little square
So long ago, when I was small
All summer long it had a fair
Wonderful fair with swings and all
I used to love my little fair
And at the close of everyday

I could be found, dancing around
A merry-go-round that used to play:

"Ah, mon amour
 A toi toujours
 Dans tes grands yeux
 Rien que nous deux"

All summer long my little fair
Made everyday like a holiday
Night after night it used to play
People came there from so far away
And everyone sang that little tune
All around the town you heard it played

Even Pepi from Napoli
He sang to Marie this serenade

If the sun should tumble from the sky
If the sea should suddenly run dry
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I won't care

Shall I catch a shooting star
Shall I bring it where you are
If you want me to, I will. (I hope I get this right)
You can set me any task
I'll do anything you ask
If you'll only love me still

When at last, our life on earth is through
I will spend eternity with you
If you love me, really love me
Let it happen darling, I won't care

Jolly street

(Music by Curtis Fowlkes, Lyrics by Ray Dobbins and Roy Nathanson - From the 1994 Jazz Passengers LP In Love)

Slow birds
No breeze
Iron hearts
Rust in streams

 Long march
Small crimes
Soft words
Whisper
It's time to come home - your eyes
To bring back - your charms
To sit real still
In my arms

 Clocks tick
Trees pound
Lions roar
On empty streets

 Long lists
In black and white
(S h h) Red words
That read like the Fourth of July
You're home
Uhuh, You're home, In my arms

Kashmir

(Led Zeppelin)

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
Stars to fill my dream.
I am a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been.
To sit with Elders of the gentle race
This world has seldom seen.
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
And all will be revealed...

Kick out the jams

( Cover from The Motor City Five / MC5 )

I'm gonna kick 'em out

Well I feel pretty good
And I guess that I could get crazy now, baby
'Cause we all got in tune
When the dressing room got hazy now, baby

I know how you want it, child,
Hot, sweet, and tight
The girls can't stand it
When you're doing it right
When they're up on the stand
And then they kick out the jams, yes
Kick out the jams, I like to kick 'em out

Yes I'm startin' to sweat
You know my shirt's all wet
What a feelin'
And the sound that abounds and
Resounds and rebounds off the ceiling
You gotta have it, baby
You can't do without
When you get the feelin'
You've got the sounds above
Put that mic in my hand
And let me kick out the jams
Yes, kick out the jams, got to kick 'em out

So you got to get it up
And then can't get enough
That's what ....
'Cause it gets in your brain
It drives you insane, makes you crazy
The ...... the faster you funk
If you wanna feed my rocket
Till the morning comes
Let me be who I am
And let me kick out the jams
Yes kick out the jams
I done kick 'em out

Killing Time

( The Creatures / Live at Astoria, London, January 18 1995 )

I wait and wait
Sleepwalk the hourglass
This way and that
The pendulum swings
Yes there's plenty of time
Always time left to kill
Does time stand still
Or hurtle on by?

Let time unwind
Let all the cogs fall out
Let mans machines
Collapse and rust
Face down in the dust
I'll kiss no other lips
A life time of nothing
Condemned without you

Been so long here
I could die here
Lying by your side
But time won't claim me
Time and me only
I'm just killing time

If the sun went out
I wouldn't mind too much
Who needs the days
To trouble to fill?
If the moon didn't rise
I wouldn't be upset
Who needs moonshine
To cause tears to spill?

I've been so long here
I could lie here
Under dying sky
This thirst and hunger
Holds no wonder
I'm just killing time

I await your return
There's no other one

Let's bomb the moonlight

So well
The world is diagnosed with terminal cancer
Flesh is not human this culture is not freedom
And the world has terminal cancer
I want to live with you
Let's bomb the moonlight and dance
This far awake is a joke our love is real
And the world is diagnosed with terminal cancer
I love your lips ??
Armageddon's just another job, it's all on the inside
Don't let them tell you love is a lie
Love is so real
The best bet's to stay alive
Let's go bomb the moonlight
Let's take it back
What was ours by right
Frame of a picture, the subject's not right
Oh people of the world
You have a new boy in town
To share the light with a guillotine
That's realer than all of you
That's love human.
We'll bomb the moonlight and dance
Dance
Sweet black mother of death
Why did you have to take her away from me?
It's stupid all the words fit together
Where now is nothing
Why did you have to bring us together,
Under such dirty circumstance?
I have a molotov
Let's bomb the moonlight and dance
Dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance dance

Lost Highway

( Hank Williams )

I'm a rollin' stone all alone and lost
For a life of sin I have paid the cost
When I walk by all the people say
Just another guy on the lost highway

Just a deck of cards and a jug of wine
And a woman's lies makes a life like mine
On the day we met, I went astray
I started rolling down this lost highway

I was just a lad, nearly twenty two
Neither good nor bad, just a kid like you
And now I'm lost, too late to pray
Lord I paid a cost, on the lost highway

Now boy's don't start to ramblin' round
On this road of sin are you sorrow bound
Take my advice or you'll curse the day
You started rollin' down that lost highway
Lost highway

Madam George

(Van Morrison)

Down on cyprus avenue
With a child-like vision leaping into view.
The clicking clacking of the high-heeled shoes,
Ford and fitzroy; madam george.
Marching with the soldierboy behind
He's much older now with hat on, drinking wine
And the smell of sweet perfume comes drifting thru
In the cool night breeze like shalimar
And then your self control lets go
And suddenly you're up against the bathroom door.
The hallway lights are finely getting dim
You're in the front row touching him
And outside they're making all the stops
The kinds out in the streets collecting bottle tops,
Going for cigarettes and matches to the shops,
Happy talking, madam george
And that's when you fall, oh,
Oh, that's when you fall

And you fall into a trance
Sitting on a sofa playing games of chance
With your folded arms in history books you glance
Into the eyes of madam george
And you think you've found your bag,
You're getting weaker and your knees begin to sag
And in the corner playing dominoes in drag,
The one and only madam george
And outside the frosty window raps
She says "be cool, i think that it's the cops"
Stands up, drops everything she gots,
It's not easy now you know
Now you know you gotta go
Catch a train from dublin up to sandy row,
In the wind, rain & fog & slush & snow
Keep on going on
Say good-bye we know you're pretty far out
And all the little boys comin' round
They got gold cigarette lighters in their pockets
Walking away from it all, so cool.
That's when you fall.

Mama, you been on my mind

( Bob Dylan / Live at WFMU, October 11 1992 )

Perhaps it's the color of the sun cut flat
An' cov'rin' the crossroads I'm standing at,
Or maybe it's the weather or something like that,
But mama, you been on my mind.
I don't mean trouble, please don't put me down or get upset,
I am not pleadin' or sayin', "I can't forget."
I do not walk the floor bowed down an'bent, but yet,
Mama, you been on my mind.
Even though my mind is hazy an'my thoughts they might be narrow,
Where you been don't bother me nor bring me down in sorrow.
It don't even matter to me where you're wakin' up tomorrow,
But mama, you're just on my mind.
I am not askin' you to say words like "yes" or "no,"
Please understand me, I got no place for you t'go.
I'm just breathin' to myself, pretendin' not that I don't know,
Mama, you been on my mind.
When you wake up in the mornin', baby, look inside your mirror.
You know I won't be next to you, you know I won't be near.
I'd just be curious to know if you can see yourself as clear
As someone who has had you on his mind.

Mojo Pin

(Live at Palais Theatre, Melbourne / Grace EP)

[Chocolate Part]
You got me shaking like a lovers bed on a hardwood floor
In the New York summertime, melting on a tongue of gold

I'm lying in my bed
The blanket is warm
This body will never be safe from harm
I still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal
Touch my skin to keep me whole

Well if only you'd come back to me
If you laid at my side
Wouldn't need no Mojo Pin to keep me satisfied

Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so

Yeah precious, precious silver and gold and pearls
 in oyster's flesh
Drop down we two to serve and pray to love
Yes born again from the rhythm, screaming down from heaven
Ageless, ageless and I'm there in your...

Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know
I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow
The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow
Black beauty I love you so...

The welts of your scorn, my love, give me more
Send whips of opinion down my back, give me more
Well it's you I've waited my life to see
It's you I've waited my life to see
It's you...
If you hurt me I'll kill you...

New Year's Eve Prayer

You, my love, are allowed to forget about the Christmas you just spent stressed out in your parents’ house.
You, my love, are allowed to shed the weight of all the years before like bad disco clothes, save them for a night of dancing stoned with your lover.
You, my love, are allowed to let yourself drown every night in bottomless wild and naked symbolic dreams.
You, my love, in sleep can unlock your youth and your most terrifying magic, and dreaming is for the courageous.
You, my love, are allowed to grab my guitar and sing me idiot love songs if
You’ve lost your ability to speak, keep it down to two minutes.
You, my love, are allowed to rot and to die and to live again more alive and incandescent than before.
You, my love, are allowed to beat the shit out of your television, choke its thoughts
And corrupt its mind kill, kill, kill, kill the motherfucker before the song of zombiefied pain and panic and malaise and its narrow, right-winged vision
And its cheap commercial gang rape becomes the white noise of the world (turnabout is fair play).
You, my love, are allowed to forgive and love your television.
You, my love, are allowed to speak in kisses to those around you and those up in heaven.
You, my love, are allowed to show your babies how to dance full bodied, starry eyed, audacious, supernatural, and glorified.
You, my love, are allowed to suck in every single endeavor.
You, my love, are allowed to be soaked like a lovers’ blanket in the New York summertime with the wonder of your own special gift.
You, my love, are allowed to receive praise.
You, my love, are allowed to have time.
You, my love, are allowed to understand.
You, my love, are allowed to love.
Woman disobey,
Little man believe.
You, my love, are rebellion.

No One Must Find You here

(As feat. On "The Rain Was Falling On That Day"compilation)

"Come on man, there you go"

Take my shoes and bury them
With sand and paper and broken bowels
In memory of the lover I'll never be
Whose fortune dancers dropped in his arms

Ooh Come
Every man and woman
take a beam around yours

Missing in the mess-up of all your dreams and prayers
Miss the eyes of somebody too sacred
Hoping for an innocent heart that could not please the man
Who'd waited on you for all your days pay-checks

Take my eyes and bury them
I'll never need them to see your God
I apologise to my woman for all those tricks and games
For the damage I've done
For the mess I've made

I spread love
Take him, Take it away
Don't make a sea-trip
Never to see true light again
The Church is going to drag you down
To the bottom of its birth will it speed
I'm the one who brought the axe down
I refuse to be set free

Bring me down
Ah bring it down
There ain't no way to stop this now
So close to home
Alone beside you here

So every man must become the enemy of his own soul
For the ones he loves
And I want you
I want yours so badly
I wanna be strong like the man that I am, boy oh

Break it, Take it away
Loathe his reason
Never to see the light of day

Missing in the mess-up of all your dreams and plans
Miss the eyes of somebody too sacred
Hoping for an innocent heart, run-off descent man
The way you live for all your days pay-checks

Bring me down
Bring me
There ain't no way to stop this now
So close to home
No one must find you here

(repeated x 1)

There's no way to stop this now
There's no way to stop this now

Once I was

( Tim Buckley / Live at 'Greetings From Tim Buckley', tribute concert at St.Ann's Church, New York, April 26 1991 )

Once I was a soldier
And I fought on foreign sands for you
Once I was a hunter
And I brought home fresh meat for you
Once I was a lover
And I searched behind your eyes for you
And soon there'll be another
To tell you I was just a lie

And sometimes I wonder
Just for a while
Will you remember me

And though you have forgotten
All of our rubbish dreams
I find myself searching
Through the ashes of our ruins
For the days when we smiled
And the hours that ran wild
With the magic of our eyes
And the silence of our words

And sometimes I wonder
Just for a while
Will you remember me

Ozark melody

(Alien Abductees OST / Music by Frederick Reed and Jeff Buckley, Lyrics by Joe Tripician)

Well the aliens are coming
They're coming while i'm strummin'
They fill me up with such a sense of pride
When the aliens do take me
I hope that they will let me
Bring my little sister for my bride.

The space men with skin of gray
Took my baby child away
Now they say they want a second date
I'm really kind of flattered
Though I know it doesn't matter
Just think of it as interstellar rape.

The aliens will help me
I know that they can lift me
Lift me out of earth's velocity
The aliens have shown me
In their space craft as they hold me
Their space-age Ozark moonshine recipe.

In the kitchen I've gone wild
With spices hot and mild
Yes, I'm the planet's new age Julia child.

I'm cookin' up a present
A ten-pound frisky pheasant
They'll stuff it like they stuffed me - with a smile

The aliens are recruiting
Over hill and dale they're lootin'
For kins and cows and even chickens, too.
They took my cousin Billy
Now he's more than silly
I wish they'd take my auntie Mary lou.

Now the aliens don't like me
'Cause I guess I tried to bite 'em
It's just my way of being kind of close
They threw me in a pasture
Now i'm aging faster
Faster than a free-range country roast.

Well the aliens are coming
They're coming while i'm strummin'
They fill me up with such a sense of pride
When the aliens do take me
I hope that they will let me
Bring my little sister for my bride.

Parchman Farm

( M.Allison )

I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
Ain't never done no man no harm

Well, I'm putting that cotton in a never-full sack
Well, I'm putting that cotton in a never-full sack
Well, I'm putting that cotton in a never-full sack
A twelve-gauge shotgun at my back

I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
I'm sitting over here on Parchman farm
Ain't never done no man no harm

Parlez moi d'amour

( Edith Piaf cover / Live at Olympia, Paris, on July 7 1995 )

Parlez-moi d'amour,
Redites-moi des choses tendres.
Votre beau discours,

People's Parties

( Joni Mitchell Cover / Live at Sin-é, New York, December 31 1995 )

All the people at this party
They've got a lot of style
They've got stamps of many countries
They've got passport smiles
Some are friendly
Some are cutting
Some are watching it from the wings
Some are standing in the centre
Giving to get something

Photo beauty gets attention
Then her eye paint's running down
She's got a rose in her teeth
And a lampshade crown
One minute she's so happy
Then she's crying on someone's knee
Saying laughing and crying
You know it's the same release

I told you when i met you
I was crazy
Cry for us all beauty
Cry for eddie in the corner
Thinking he's nobody
And jack behind his joker
And stone-cold grace behind her fan
And me in my frightened silence
Thinking i don't understand

I feel like i'm sleeping
Can you wake me
You seem to have a broader sensibility
I'm just living on nerves and feelings
With a weak and a lazy mind
And coming to peoples parties
Fumbling deaf dumb and blind

I wish i had more sense of humor
Keeping the sadness at bay
Throwing the lightness on these things
Laughing it all away
Laughing it alI away
Laughing it all away

Phantasmagoria In Two

( Tim Buckley / Live at 'Greetings From Tim Buckley', tribute concert at St.Ann's Church, New York, April 26 1991 )

If a fiddler played you a song, my love
And if I gave you a wheel
Would you spin for my heart and loneliness
Would you spin for my love

If I gave up all of my pride for you
And only loved you for now
Would you hide my fears and never say
"Tomorrow I must go"

Everywhere there's rain my love
Everywhere there's fear

If you tell me a lie I'll cry for you
Tell me of sin and I'll laugh
If you tell me of all the pain you've had
I'll never smile again

Everywhere there's rain my love
Everywhere there's fear

I can plainly see that our parts have changed
Our sands are shifting around
Need I beg to you for one more day
To find our lonely love

Everywhere there's rain my love
Everywhere there's fear

Please Send Me Someone To Love

( Percy Mayfield / Live WFMU "Music Faucet" , Oct 11th  1992 )

Heaven please send to all mankind
Understanding and peace and mind
But if it's not asking too much
Please send me someone to love
Send me someone to love

Show the world how to get along
Peace we'll enter when hate is gone
But if it is not asking too much
Please send me someone to love
Please send me someone to love

And I wake up and ponder the world's trouble
And my answer is always the same
Now let's put an end to this damn all of sin
Hate will put the world in a flame, what a shame

Just because I am in misery
I don't beg for no sympathy
But if it is not asking too much
Please send me someone to love
Please send me someone to love

Oh just because I am
Just because I am in misery
Oh and I don't beg for no sympathy
Oh but if it is not asking too much
Please send me someone to love
Please send me someone to love

if it is not asking too much
Please, please send me someone to love

River of Dope

( Unreleased Rare Track )

You could have been New Orleans.
You could have been New Orleans.
But you’ll just be Hollywood for the rest of your life
You could have been New Orleans
But you’ll just be Hollywood for the rest of your life

I saw us drowning with our neck in a rope
She was covered handy by the river of dope
I guess it caught her fancy just to be by his side
She had no answer when she tried to get high
Turn to the prison of the camera’s strobe
Fame is religion by the river of dope
My brain is tired of how the woman can cope
It just don’t matter to the river of dope

The door’s no longer open for my name on their breath
So long I’ve waited for the coming of death
Will I be united with my innocence gone
Will I burn to cinders as the river rolls on
Hmmm…river, we sleep in your mud.
You give us poison, will we drink your blood
I saw your woman with a seven-foot rope
Hang your dirty laundry by the river of dope.
I watched your mother abandon her hope
And she watched you drowning by the river of dope
It felt so damn special to be damaged and free
To have her hairs not feel you. Look in my eyes and you’ll see
That I flow with the river, and I’m a slave to his song
and I will drown forever where so many have gone
Goodbye you people who have abandoned your hope
Parade in early morning to the river of dope
Hmm, yeah the river of dope.

Rock me baby

( BB King - Joe Josea / Live )

Rock me baby
Rock me all night long
Rock me baby
Rock me all night long
Rock me baby
Like my back ain't got no bone

Roll me baby
Like you roll a wagon wheel
I want you to roll me baby, like you roll a wagon wheel
Want you to roll me baby, you don't know how it makes me feel

Rock me baby, honey, rock me slow
Yeah, rock me pretty baby, baby rock me slow
Want you to rock me baby, till I want no more

Sefronia - The King's Chain

( Tim Buckley / Live at 'Greetings From Tim Buckley', tribute concert at St.Ann's Church, New York, April 26 1991 )

I couldn't buy you with a hundred cattle
But you hike in shells and feathers
Up the African beach,
I am king here
Tied to this hut by the King's chain
My power's like a tree and green taboo to me

The chameleon lies in your dusty fingers,
And blue flies circle your head like stars;
Jump into me now, I must not see the water,
Let me suck my weakness from your dark nipples

Strawberry Street

( Grace Legacy Edition CD )

Streetlights flicker on
As they take on the sun
Like counterfeit stars
Watch them come
Watch them come

Pacified haze full speed away
Comfort in the arms of a decadent gray
No tears, no fears
You’ll always remain here

The power out there seems to keep you when
You lost your blood to adrenaline
The flesh is weak and the dream is within

In a casting room
Seven little honey girls sitting in a row
Practice for the imperial pillow
Like sweet little strawberries
Eaten from a bowl
Hot lipstick red
And a candy store soul
And in a bed upstairs
Do you hear destiny
Girl, I’m a mystery

Nightmarish shade
Strawberries tall [?]
Drinking [?] your eyes below
Kill the memory
Watch it die
Pornographic death
Fucking ripped bloody shredded steaming mess
Kill the memories
Watch them die, lullaby
Your mother once sung
Yours was the kind
Who’s born to die young

And on the boulevard
Seven little honey girls sitting in a row
Manacled to the imperial pillow
And if I came up there to Strawberry Street
And said that I had a key
Would you do as I told you
Would you give it up to me
Automatically

Strawberry
Whatcha gonna do for me
Strawberry, strawberry
Whatcha gonna do for me
Strawberry, strawberry
Whatcha gonna do for me
Strawberry, strawberry
Whatcha gonna do for me

The Other Woman

( By Jesse Mae Robinson & performed by Nina Simone )

The other woman finds time to manicure her nails
The other woman is perfect where her rival fails
And she's never seen with pin curls in her hair

The other woman enchantes her clothes with French perfume
The other woman keeps fresh cut flowers in each room
There are never toys that's scattered everywhere

And when her baby comes to call
He'll find her waiting like a lonesome queen
Cos when she's by his side
It's such a change from old routine

But the other woman will always cry herself to sleep
The other woman will never have his love to keep
And as the years go by the other woman
Will spend her life alone

Twelfth Of Never

( Elvis Presley Cover / From NYC Tribute 11.17.99 )

You ask how long I'll love you
I'll tell you true
Until the twelfth of never
I'll still be loving you

Hold me close
Never let me go
Hold, hold, hold me close
Melt my heart like April snow

I'll love you
'Till the blue bells
Forget to bloom
And I'm gonna love you
'Till the roses run out of perfume
And I'll love you
'Till the poets run out of things to rhyme

Until the twelfth of never
And that's a long long time
Until the twelfth of never
And that's a long long time

The way young lovers do

( Van Morrison )

We strolled through fields all wet with rain
And back along the lane again
They were the sun shine
In the sweet summertime
The way that young lovers do

I kissed you on the left once more
And we said goodbye by the door in the nighttime
Yeah, that's the right time
To feel the way that young lovers do

Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that we were
And the way that we were meant to be

Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
And you were for me

And then we danced the night away
And turned to each other, say, 'I love you, I love you'
The way that young lovers do

Do, do, do, do...
Repeat ( many time / depend on which live version it is )

[ Some versions of the song ] :
Won't you love me the way that young lovers do - ( repeat )
I can feel, take your tongue on my body, until we're gone crazy, crazy crazyyyyy
do, do, do, do, do, do.

Then we sat on our star and dreamed of the way that we were
And the way that we wanted to be
Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
And you were for me
Oh baby baby
I went on to dance the night away
And turned to each other, say, 'I love you, baby, I love you'

[ Some versions of the song ] :
Jeff sings the beginning of a a cocteau twins song, Ivo, like Elizabeth Fraser
Peep hole, Peach blow, Pandora, Pompadour
Pale leaf, Pink sweet, Persephone, Near our rito(ivo??)

I held her with her looking down
And i kissed her with the snow falling down
There in the streetlight
Oh there was a sweet light
And the way...

The way that young lovers do, lovers do, lovers do
Do, do, do, do...

The Way Young Lovers Do

(Live From The Bataclan EP)

We...
We strolled through fields all wet with rain
And back along the lane again
There in the sunshine
In the sweet summertime
Oh the way that young lovers do

I kissed you on the lips once more
We said goodbye at your front door
There in the nighttime
Love, that's the right time
Oh to feel the way that young lovers do

Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that we were and the
way that we wanted to be
Then we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
and that you were for me
And then we long to dance the night away
And turned to each other saying 'I love you, baby I love you'
Oh the way that young lovers do

Oh the way...
Oh the way that young lovers do
The way young lovers do
The way young lovers do
The way young lovers do
The way young lovers do
The way young lovers...

Now won't you love me the way young lovers do
Oh won't you love me the way that young lovers do
Oh the way...

Won't you love me the way that young lovers do
It's so close
I can't feel you
Take your time on my body
Until we both go crazy
Crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy...

And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that we were and the way
 that we wanted to be
And we sat on our own star and dreamed of the way that I was for you
and that you were for me
Oh, baby, babe
Then we long to dance the night away
And turned to each other saying 'I love you, baby, I love you'
Oh, yes...

[Cocteau Twins part]
Peep hole, Peach blow, Pandora, Pompadour
Pale leaf, Pink sweet, Persephone

I held her with her looking down
And I kissed her, with the snow falling down
There in the street light
Oh, it was a sweet night
And the way that young lovers do
Oh, the way that young lovers do
Oh the way that young... Oh
Oh the ways you do, yes it's you... Yes

[That's all I ask Part]
Oh, don't try to blow out the sun from me, baby
Oh, and I'm hopin' for what I know can't be
All that I ask is for your kiss each day
And I'll give you love that will never go away
I'll give you love that will never go away

Oh the way that young lovers do

Thief Without The Take

( I.Lorre/J.Buckley / Jeff duets with Inger Lorre )

Oh baby didn't you hear?
I'm goin' solo dear,
So low dear
I am the thief without the take
I'm swallowing the bitterest pill
Totally ever so against my will
I am the thief without the take,
I am the thief without the take,
Everytime I try to do my art
Always fallin' apart,
Fallin' apart
I am the thief without the take,
I am the thief without the take,
I'm the desert without sun
Five minus one diamond without shine
I'm the poem that doesn't rhyme
I'm the king on the hill
Sick and ill
Nothing I wouldn't trade to be the serving knave
I'm the sun without heat
the drum without the beat
I'm the winter without snow
Flame without a glow
I am the thief without the take,
I am the thief without the take
Everytime I try to do my art
Always fallin' apart,
Fallin' apart
I am the thief without the take,
I am the thief without the take
I've stolen from myself too too long
It's just the music makes me want to go on
I am the thief without the take

Thousand fold

I have no desire to make
Contact with all the thought of "no, no"
I shiver now to think of
How this answer asked her, no
Long time gone
I run to my hide out
There ain't a star born that brightens
More than you
You always should have known, Joan
I'll illuminate your question
Long time ago I'd died and gone
What has brought the question
Time has brought the question
Come and call the question
Oh, oh, oh...
Here are the stars, same thing again
Over, over, over, over, over, over
Over, over, over, over, over, over

Three is a Magic Number

( Schoolhouse Rock Cartoon / live at the Mercury Lounge, New York, on December 31 1995 )

Three is a magic number, yes it is, it's a magic number.
Somewhere in the ancient, mystic trinity, you get three as a magic number.
The past and the present and the future,
Faith hope and charity,
The heart and the brain and the body,
Give you three as a magic number.

It takes three legs to make a tripod, or to make a table stand.
It takes three wheels to make a vehicle called a tricycle.
Ev'ry triangle has three corners; ev'ry triangle has three sides.
No more , no less; you don't have to guess.
When it's three, you can see it's a magic number.

A man and a woman had a little baby.
Yes they did.
They had three in the family.
And that's a magic number.

Three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen, eighteen,
Twenty-one twenty-four, twenty-seven, thirty.

Three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen, eighteen,
Twenty-one twenty-four, twenty-seven, thirty.

Three times ten is thirty. three times nine is twenty-seven.
Three times eight is twenty-four. three times seven is twenty-one.
Three times six is eighteen. three times five is fifteen.
Three times four is twelve, and three times three is nine,
And three times two is six, and three times one is three, of course.

Three times one: what is it? three!
That's a magic number.

A man and a woman had a little baby.
Yes they did.
They had three in the family.
And that's a magic number.

Ulalume

( Edgar Allan Poe )

The skies were ashen and sober,
The leaves they were crisped and sere,
The leaves they were withering and sere;
It was night in the lonesome October
Of my most immemorial year;
It was hard by the dim lake of Auber,
In the misty mid region of Weir,
It was down by the dank tarn of Auber,
In the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.

Here once, through an alley, Titanic,
Of cypress, I roamed with my Soul,
Of cypress, with Psyche, my Soul.
These were days when my heart was volcanic
As the scoriac rivers that roll,
As the lavas that restlessly roll
Their sulphurous currents down Yaaneck
In the ultimate climes of the pole,
That groan as they roll down Mount Yaaneck
In the realms of the boreal pole.

Our talk had been serious and sober,
But our thoughts they were palsied and sere,
Our memories were treacherous and sere,
For we knew not the month was October,
And we marked not the night of the year
(Ah, night of all nights in the year!);
We noted not the dim lake of Auber
(Though once we had journeyed down here),
Remembered not the dank tarn of Auber,
Nor the ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir.

And now, as the night was senescent
And star-dials pointed to morn,
As the star-dials hinted of morn,
At the end of our path a liquescent
And nebulous lustre was born,
Out of which a miraculous crescent
Arose with a duplicate horn

Astarte's bediamonded crescent
Distinct with its duplicate horn.
And I said: "She is warmer than Dian;
She rolls through an ether of sighs,
She reveals in a region of sighs:

She has seen that the tears are not dry on
These cheeks, where the worm never dies,
And has come past the stars of the Lion,
To point us the path to the skies,
To the Lethean peace of the skies;
Come up, in despite of the Lion,
To shine on us with her bright eyes,
Come up through the lair of the Lion,
With love in her luminous eyes."

But Psyche, uplifting her finger,
Said: "Sadly this star I mistrust,
Her pallor I strangely mistrust;
Oh, hasten! oh, let us not linger!
Oh, fly! let us fly! for we must."
In terror she spoke, letting sink her
Wings until they trailed in the dust;
In agony sobbed, letting sink her
Plumes till they trailed in the dust,
Till they sorrowfully trailed in the dust.

I replied: "This is nothing but dreaming:
Let us on by this tremulous light!
Let us bathe in this crystalline light!
Its sibyllic splendor is beaming
With hope and in beauty to-night!

Ah, we safely may trust to its gleaming,
And be sure it will lead us aright;
We safely may trust to a gleaming
That cannot but guide us aright,
Since it flickers up to heaven through the night."

Thus I pacified Psyche and kissed her,
And tempted her out of her gloom,
And conquered her scruples and gloom;
And we passed to the end of the vista,
But were stopped by the door of a tomb,
By the door of a legended tomb,
And I said:"What is written, sweet sister,
On the door of this legended tomb?"
She replied: "Ulalume! Ulalume!
'Tis the vault of thy lost Ulalume!"

Then my heart it grew ashen and sober
As the leaves that were crisped and sere,
As the leaves that were withering and sere,
And I cried: "It was surely October
On this very night of last year
That I journeyed, I journeyed down here,
That I brought a dread burden down here,
Of this night of all nights in the year,
Ah, what demon has tempted me here?
Well I know, now, this dim lake of Auber,
This misty mid region of Weir,
Well I know, now, this dank tarn of Auber,
This ghoul-haunted woodland of Weir."

Said we, then--the two, then--"Ah, can it
Have been that the woodlandish ghouls
The pitiful, the merciful ghouls
To bar up our way and to ban it
From the secret that lies in these wolds
From the thing that lies hidden in these wolds
Had drawn up the spectre of a planet
From the limbo of lunary souls
This sinfully scintillant planet
From the Hell of the planetary souls?"

Untitled Acoustic Rarities from NYC

Take the pain in ‘til it all rings hollow
We’ll learn to loathe the truth as it shines
I already see the ghosts on the sidewalk
Kissing in the hereafter

Your hands are in your pockets as you face her
And your bodies both frozen by the door
Only one knows they’re watching it die
The other from hereafter

Young life crushes young love
You’ve learned to think love is for somebody else
Make your heart deliver for yourself
And the man you loved just doesn’t know who just what he’s after

Chances are you wouldn’t even recognize the man I am now
Chances are you wouldn’t even recognize the man I am now
Chances are you wouldn’t even recognize the man I am now

And make up any excuse to enemies you can’t control
The knife wanders through me so slow
It cuts between us as we grow

That’s all
That’s all it is…

We all fall in love sometimes

( Elton John / Live WFMU "Music Faucet" , Oct 11th  1992 )

Wise men say
It looks like rain today
It crackled on the speakers
And trickled down the sleepy subway trains

For heavy eyes could hardly hold us
Aching legs that often told us
It's all worth it
We all fall in love sometimes

The full moon's bright
And starlight filled the evening
We wrote it and I played it
Something happened
It's so strange this feeling

Naive notions that were childish
Simple tunes that tried to hide it
But when it comes
We all fall in love sometimes

Did we, didn't we, should we couldn't we
I'm not sure but sometimes we're so blind
Struggling through the day
When even your best friend says

Don't you find
We all fall in love sometimes

Oh yeah
And only passing time
Could kill the boredom we acquired
Running with the losers for a while
And our empty sky was filled with laughter
Just before the flood
Painting worried faces with a smile

Wise men say
It looks like rain today
It crackled on the speakers
And trickled down the sleepy subway trains

For heavy eyes could hardly hold us
Aching legs that often told us
It's all worth it
We all fall in love sometimes

Oh oh oh oh ...
Oh oh oh oh ...
We all fall in love sometimes

When the Levee Breaks

( Led Zeppelin Cover / Demo )

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
When the levee breaks I'll have no place to stay

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan
Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're trying to find your way home
You don't know which way to go
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do
If you don't know about Chicago

Crying won't help you, praying won't do you no good
Now, crying won't help you, praying won't do you no good
When the levee breaks, mama you got to move

All last night sat on the levee and moaned
All last night sat on the levee and moaned
Thinking about my baby and my happy home
Oh yeah yeah

Going, going, going to Chicago
Going to Chicago
Sorry but I can't take you
Going down, going down now, going down...

White Man Trouble

( Traditional )

Come on you white people clap !

Oh, the white man trouble
Oh god I love you, child
I'm gonna give you some of my special sauce girl
Aaahhh...

Well, my maid up and left me
My butler up and left me too
And my poolcleaner ain't been here
For a week or two
I got the white man trouble
Whitee, whitee, white white man trouble bring me down
I had me all white man trouble
Since my stocks went down

White, whitey, white man trouble
“Goodbye , everything’s ok”

Wild Is the Wind

( Nina Simone / Live at the Spot Coffee, Buffalo, December 9 1996 )

Love me love me love me
Say you do
Let me fly away
With you
For my love is like
The wind
And wild is the wind

Give me more
Than one caress
Satisfy this
Hungriness
Let the wind
Blow through your heart

For wild is the wind
You...
Touch me...
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You...
Kiss me...
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me

Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To a tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're creatures
Of the wind
And wild is the wind
So wild is the wind

Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

Will The Circle Be Unbroken

( Traditional / Live at the Club Logo, Hamburg, February 22, 1995 )

I was standing by my window
On a cold and cloudy day
When i saw the hearse come rollin'
For to take my mother away.

Will the circle be unbroken?
By and by Lord, by and by,
There's a better home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

I told the undertaker:
"undertaker, please drive slow,
for this body you are haulin'
Lord, i hate to see her go".

Will the circle be unbroken?
By and by Lord, by and by,
There's a better home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

Well i followed close behind her,
Tried to hold up and be brave,
But i could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in the grave

Will the circle be unbroken?
By and by Lord, by and by,
There's a better home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

I went back home, my home was lonesome,
Missed my mother she was gone.
All my brothers and sisters crying
In our home so sad and alone.

Will the circle be unbroken?
By and by Lord, by and by,
There's a better home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

We sang the songs of childhood,
Hymns of faith that made us strong,
Ones that our mother had taught us,
Hear the angels sing along

Will the circle be unbroken?
By and by Lord, by and by,
There's a better home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord, in the sky.

You and I

(Sketches 4-Tracks Outakes / Guitar Version)

Ah this and that said
I come down the stairs
And I was by your eyes, and you were there.
Found you in the morning capsized
Alone, oh wonderful midnight
A blonde angel for my heart to belong to

Oh You and I.
You and I, you and I, you and I, you and I
All for you and I

Especially in the magnesium
I asked her for a cure from stress with a stranger
She asked me, “Did I hurt you just then?”
I said, “No but you're hurting me now.”
And the light turned on
And the rains turned her on

Oh you and I
All for you and I, you and I, you and I
All for you and I, you and I, you and I
All for you

The light turned off my baby's tears
The door snapped slammed
Spend the day by the water remembering
How you left her
With your hands in your pockets as you faced me
Dark communication so light
This garden of lights
As you and I
Are mistaken from the starlight
I need you, reach you
Will you reach inside of me
There's a power moving me to stay
I won't spend another day
Without you and I
You and I, you and I
Oh you and I
All for you
